Wilco Publishing CRJ Next Gen

it's the texturing that is rather poor.
I agree. It sort of reminds me of the Simcheck A300. It looked as if one guy painted the wings and another guy (with less photoshop experience) painted the fuselage.
I find that to truly be able to comment on a 3D model, you need to own it, swivel the camera around it.
A Youtube video in HD would do nicely for me.

True that, Iain! Point is: I find you need more than just a 2D image to properly judge a 3D model. A HD quality video would allready be a thousand times better, but owning it is of course the best.

The 737 Evo modeling is I think much better than the v1 737PIC. However, and that's what you see on those comparison shots, it's the texturing that is rather poor. For all I can see, the Evo model is overall more accurate, truer to life. There were so many things wrong about the v1 exterior model that I don't even quite know where to begin with the criticism. There wouldn't be that much difference between the posted shots if only the wings would have been photorealistic. I dare say that the Evo model would actually look much better than the v1 if that were the case. As a result, I have been contempl;ating to simply make my own tetxuring for VC and wings, but so far I didn't have the time. However, I'll maintain my opinion on 3D models: it's hard to form a good opinion on a 3D model from screenshots only, especially if they are the size of those on the Wilco product page. I find that to truly be able to comment on a 3D model, you need to own it, swivel the camera around it. Looking at 2D shots only just doesn't quite suffice; just doesn't do the 3D model real justice. I find this true for not only the exterior, but especially the VC. Once you "sit in it" and look around, you will be able to get a good impression of it. Otherwise, not so much, or a lot less, in anyway.
Couldn't agree more! Texturing has always been the Achilles heel with Wilco. Look at the A320 for instance. The model itself was ok, but the textures were horrendous, especially around the engines. I fly mostly from the cockpit, so externals isn't as important to me as the VC. While I had initial reservations as others has had with the EVO's VC vs V1's, it kind of grows on you, and you realize it's just different. When you compare to other 737's including real ones, you see it's actually more realistic looking then V1's IMHO.

Thanks

I hope the criticasters'll build a better modeled and textured 737 real quickand it better be able to taxi on idle thrust and have the exact amount of rivets or else! You folks really should get a life :LMAO:I am still debating the purchase myself, but I'll probably hold offand buy a certain old timer. The CRJ looks like a good one, too.Wasn't this thread about thát one ?

Ah, the old "don't criticize it unless you can build a better one yourself". Makes me laugh every time I hear it.

Big laughs here to. It's like "I don't like my new Samsung TV so I'm of down to the shed to build my own"
Its easy to take something and put it into its worst light and then triumphantlysay "Its just there in the pictures", the flipping media do it all the time. So, whynot look at my pictures
You must be living on very different planet to. You say this then do the same :( all I did was show to pictures of the same livery and both livery's came from Wilco, I didn't edit them or do anything else so I could be so triumph in my views. I'm guessing you now feel triumphantly great after showing your pictures, it must be easy in life not worrying about contradiction. You like it I don't and I never will because its trash and I own the Level-d 767, PMDG NGX, PMDG MD11 these 3 alone will always stop me from using junk, same reason why I don't watch TV on 20 year Television while my big and beautiful flat screen is turned off.

Its easy to take something and put it into its worst light and then triumphantlysay "Its just there in the pictures", the flipping media do it all the time. So, whynot look at my pictures (sorry, not sure how to embed them, so they are indirect.First is version 1:http://i1003.photobu...53-12-713-1.jpgAnd now EVO:http://i1003.photobu...9-25-17-965.jpgNow compare a similar shot of the two VC, first the old one:http://i1003.photobu...9-29-33-926.jpgNotice the checklist on the yoke, see how you can't make it out, its called "two fewpixels" for the resolution. And now the new one:http://i1003.photobu...0-49-42-144.jpgNotice here you can make out the checklist quite crisply, also look at the instrumentssee the improved 3D nature of them, and how crisp they are. That's ALSO calledmore pixels.A good livery can make worlds difference I agree, I don't use BA and have no ideawho did it, if we got McPhat to do some liveries for these models they would make itstand out even more.Nevertheless, I stand by what I said, MORE pixels, clearly cockpit, and the SWAlivery looks improved to me, it also has sharper details by having the higher resolution.
I'll just say this. Neither one is particularly accurate or good by today's standards, but keep in mind the PIC version is 8 years old. The real problem I have is the package --without the airline textures-- cost $52.00.Also, that exterior model is off. So whoever said it's just the textures...I'm glad you're getting your money's worth, though.

Get a life? You're the one that's made a profession out of all of this... LOL. There must be something to it...

It was said tongue in cheek. Much like I'm sure his "get a life" statement was... But thanks anyway!I'll point you towards every post in this thread. The topic is on a Wilco product (yet to be released, asking opinions on it). Why do we have to repeat ourselves so much in here, lately? *Again* this is a place where the community (customers) gather and share opinions. Is it safe to assume that most developer's reputations are drawn from past products?
