Can anyone that uses the Saitek throttle that comes with the Pro yoke systems give some setup tips. Mine was just delivered so I haven't had a chance to go through everything. In the past I used CH products so I am new to Saitek and see that the default settings , from left to right, are Throtle, flaps and spoilers. How do you use the flaps with no detents, just sort of guess where flaps 1 - 3 - 5 etc may be? Also when you arm the auto reverse do you pull the lever down part way or still use the key settings. Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks

HelloFor your own sanity, use Fsuipc

Sanity? aren't all of us simmers just a little off kilter. :-) I will check but I thought I saw that PMDG doesn't recommend using the FSUIPC for button control.

Works fine for me here, except the J41 where I have to use Joy2key to get buttons to work. I use the button presses (in FSUIPC) and absolute minimum joystick movement to push and hold throttle decr which works great for reverse thrust.

Saitek throttles are (left to right) Throttle, Prop pitch, mixture. To use reverse thrust you need to bring the throttle down past the detent but you must set it as a button inthe fsx control section.Personally, I use the A1 button on the left of the controller for trim and the B1 button onthe right for flaps with the red button for radio.IAN

I used this guys guide to setup mine....works great!http://nzff.org/foru...?showtopic=7549PS....As a previous poster mentions...you MUST use FSUIPC....you may even need the registered version...not sure????

I use, and would not be without, the registered version of FSUIPC4. I have dual Saitek throttle quads and in the case of the A2A B-17G, which I fly A LOT,I have the 4 throttles mapped plus master mixture and RPM levers.Of the 12 buttons, I reserve 2 as my "mode" switches....step up, step down....as the B-17G FSUIPC4 setup utilizes 8 "modes".That is to say I have eighty functions mapped to the 10 remaining switches.I use a similar approach on my other A2A aircraft...the B-377, Spitfire, P-47, P-40 and even the Cub.There is no way, aside from adding more switches, that I could do what I am doing without FSUIPC4. I also make use of the Luaprogramming capabilities that are now built in to FSUIPC4. I'm only limited by my imagination...and the time to implement new"features" to my control setup :) PaulHummm...one can no use the numerals for "eighty" in this forum. When I type them I get mega_shok.gif!

I do things slightly differently than in that thread. For a typical setup, the levers are throttle (power lever) prop and mixture (condition). As in the thread, the levers are assigned to analog axis, when you pull the lever past the detent, they cause a button press. I have the button press set to throttle decrease, pitch decrease, mixture lean (all with repeat while held). I don't set anything on button release. I set a small "dead zone" in the axis at the bottom (idles, min pitch, min mixture). If you do set one of the levers to something like spoiler, flaps, or gear you have to more or less "eyeball" how far to move the lever (other than gear which is just binary so move it all the way up or down).scott s..

Do yourself a favour and setup all your hardware via FSUIPC.Great FSUIPC Guide by John Cook here (is for CH Products, but should work fine for Saitek as well.)Cheers,- jahman.

Just in case you're short of cash you do not necessarily need to buy FSUIPC to get the throttles working as expected.Nor you need the Saitek own software. For instance I use a combination of standard FSX settings and this little gem of a free program, hidmacros.I only fly GA, as Cianpars said the three levers are assigned to Throttle, Prop pitch and mixture.Note that you can assign functions also to the three buttons below the clock.I use the red button on the yoke as a toggle to double the number of functions per each button.

Thanks for all of the replys, I just orderd a second throttle quandrat. From the pictures in the last post I noticed that there were different knobs on the levers. The quadrant comes with one each black, blue and red. Where do you get additional black ones for the four throttle set up.

I believe the black handle that spans multiple axis come with the quad that sells separately

You are correct. And to the original poster as many have already stated, do yourself a favor and buy FSUIPC.

I did not know that. Thanks for the tip!! Going to make use of it tonight.

I second the valu of FSUIPC. It is an amazing little dll that works wonder in many areas. Besides fixing g3d.dll errors it works great as a joystick tool. Wind smoothing, traffic zapper, the list goes on and on...
