Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

US Airways bought out Cactus/AWA back in early 2000
Kenneth, Don't ever make that comment around an ex-America West employee. Actually, how the deal went down remains in dispute depending on which airline you worked for pre-merger. US Airways and America West merged in 2005. The entire airline has never been merged due to a pilot's dispute. My guess the next merger we are involved in (American Airlines) will make that a moot point! blum.gif

3. America West - Livery above (-700 non-winglet)
Woohoo, my first airline will finally be on the NGX!

I had hoped to get this uploaded earlier tonight, but got delayed. The files has finished uploading to AVSIM so it should appear shortly for downloading. The major difference between my version and the one on the PMDG liveries page is that mine has the orange colored nacelles under the wings. This bird was painted at Daniel's requst. Enjoy the livery! :Money Eyes:Now it's on to that U.S. Airways bird!EasyJet-1.jpgEasyJet-2.jpgEasyJet-3.jpg

P.S. - You mention the request for an "NG", so I'll assume that's a typo since this forum is for the "NGX"Cheers!
Er, the aircraft modeled is a 737NG.I'll have to wait longer for a blue US Airways repaint, but I can't complain! Thanksnull
Zach, I knew they were going to keep one or two 300's as spares. One of my co-workers told me he worked a 300 the other day so your eyesight didn't fail you.
Thank you sir.

As much as I ilke USAirways, I find it ironic an airline with that name owns so many Scarebuses :-)
Take the irony out of your thought process. It comes down to who made the sweeter deal while the search of a replacement fleet was being conducted. Airbus, made it much more attractive at the time and that's who won. The only Boeings we have right now are the 737-400 which is being phased out this year, the 757 and 767's, which will be eventually phased out (sad, but that's just airline economics)

One would think that after the Hudson they might have reconsidered their decision, not to mention vert stabs falling off, landing in trees, and a host of other issues related to the 'laws' of Scarebuses.

Jay, While I'm not a huge Airbus fan, I'm not sure it would have made a difference if it was Boeing or Airbus. Ingesting a large bird such as a goose will tear any engine up causing a failure. I've seen seagulls do some pretty nasty damage to a jet engine. The lifesaving difference that day was the airmanship of Captain Sullenberger and FO Skiles.

No arguement about the bird damage and the crew. But after talking to many pilots who fly both the Boeings and Scarebuses (a friend of mine was flying the same plane the day before it crashed ), the consensus from them is that the 'laws' the buses use prevented a restart whereas a Boeing would have allowed at least partial power even with the damage. Maybe other RW Boeing drivers will weigh in on this.

Jay

I try not to get into the Airbus/Boeing debate too much, while they both have their quirks most of the pilots I've heard or read say that once they get used to the bus they love flying it. One particular blogger said it took him almost a full year on the A320 before everything fully clicked for him.Now to AWE1549 and the laws.. I'm not sure what flight control laws have to do with restarting the engine, especially since I imagine they wouldn't be operating in normal law under those circumstances.

The Hudson incident....Really? Again let go of your virtual thoughts and look at the big picture. Your logic does not make much sense, especially when you are going by hear-say. An airline usually chooses an aircraft based on its capability for the type of operations that they plan to execute. With today's competitive market, Airbus offered USAirways a better deal than Boeing did. Your references do not hold much water as valid points, each one of the accidents that you mentioned were caused by another factor, improper pilot usage, computer malfunctions, and foreign objects entering the engines. All aircraft are susceptible to all of the above mentioned. The next time you get into a Boeing, I hope you wear your Superman vest underneath, cause you never know if you are going to need it. :(
