Good payware GA aircraft?

Featured Replies

I thought it was time to get a GA aircraft that was beyond the default FSX level, so does anyone have any suggestions?

I'll biteFlight 1 182TMilViz C310RRealAir Duke/Turbine DukeFlight 1 Citation MustangKey word for the above add-ons. "REALISTIC". Now anticipate the torrent of Carenado people!

There are many to choose from. I have spent alot of time in the Carenado 337 and just love this plane. A Twin with great visibility out the cockpit and it cruises very nicely. Very well done plane with great sounds, and from what I understand, it incorporates a very nice flight model. It really is and immersive aircraft. Many more to choose from though. I am sure you will get some good input soon from others.Bob

RealAir Duke/Turbine Duke
There's a discount if you get both, and they are superb.Cheers,- jahman.

Sibwings Birddog and Aerosoft's Katana are both great. This list could get very long though as there are lots of options.

+1 for the Aerosoft Katana. It's a small aircraft, but it flies well and the detail in the systems and model is exquisite. Also the Flight 1 BN2 Islander. Twin, easy to fly and great visuals inside and out. And of course any of the Carenado offerings, though in my opinion their newer ones are much better than the older ones.

Add a new kid on the block: Bay Tower Studios RV7 - simply superb, if a two-seater is in your budget.

The HD Carenado do indeed look very good, my question is, where can I find the specs on the real world equivilants of the planes?
They usually include some information regarding the RW type in the sim product. I personally recommendRealAir Duke(Turbine)KatanaCarenado 337/T210MA2A Cub, I guess, not really GA...but very good!

Ooooh, my favorite kind of post! Most superb on the top of the list:1) RealAir Duke (Turbine & Piston)http://www.realairsimulations.com/list_box.php?page=dukeb_buynow2) Katana 4xhttp://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?showd,6065194940,119773) Orbx Lancair IV-Phttp://fullterrain.com/product_lancair.html4) Baytower Vans RV7http://www.baytower.ca/index.htm5) Carenado C337H http://www.carenado.com/CarSite/Portal/index.php?accion=product&correl=626) Flight1 T182T G1000http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=f1t182t7) Lotus L39 (I use it as a private jet)http://www.lotussim.com/8 ) Milviz C310Rhttp://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=c310r9) Flight1 C510 Mustanghttp://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=f1mustang10) Sibwings Bird Doghttp://www.sibwings.com/birddog.phpThere's many more that I fly... but those are my personal favorites - all superb quality and value. Don't forget the Reality XP GNS430/530W - it will fit in a few of those...
A2A Cub, I guess, not really GA...but very good!
Huh? The Cub is a perfect example of a GA plane.... I own it, but it's slow (obviously) so I don't fly it often.

On the top of my list only comes two aircraft, they are tied for realism. These would be the A2A Piper J-3 Cub with Accu-Sim and Aerosoft's DA20-100 Katana 4X.Top notch aircraft. Carenado aircraft are close to follow, with the Centurion and Skymaster to name two.

As a real life pilot with multi, instrument and flight instructor ratings that flew almost all there is in general aviation, I'm, in a flight sim. first of all looking for a realistic flight dynamics and cockpit that's close to the real one. And out of professional curiosity, of course, I need to try more or less all there is available for a flight sim. With over 400 hours on a real aircraft, I'd cast my vote for a Carenado Mooney for FSX. That aircraft really makes me feel quite close to the real thing.

The only GA I fly is Bay Tower's RV-7 (I fly the RV-7a actually). It's the best and the official version will be released REAL soon! I also have the Katana 4x still installed, which is the second best, but I hardly fly it anymore. The rest of my addon planes (mainly Carenado planes and the Orbx Lancair) I don't care about at all: I don't even have them installed and don't plan to do so.

Me says Ryan has posted a very comprehensive list. It's pretty hard to devote time to all those great addons. Or am I the only one with that problem? :(

I don't think you are alone with that problem. But I personally don't have that problem because I usually fly one GA (and one airliner) for months and months. I never hop from one plane to another. Somehow this gives me the idea I actually own the plane... You don't own tons of planes in real life, not usually anyway. :( I have flown the Katana 4x since the day it was released until I discovered the RV-7 and now that's the only plane I fly. I also feel no need (anymore) to buy lots of planes, like I did in the past. The only airliner I fly is the 737NGX and I can't imagine flying another for a long, long, long time.
