That's awesome. I still don't think I'll upgrade. I might get a second 570 at some point to keep up with games.

Looks like I will be purchasing this card in the coming months! Can't wait to see how it performs in FSX.

I'll probably stick with my 580's until the next mainstream sim platform takes hold

I don't think you'll find much performance gain with FSX with a better video card. IMO the most important factors for FSX performance is CPU Cooler > CPU > RAM > SSD (for faster loading) > Video Card (especially video card RAM)A new video card could be useful for other games though, like Far Cry 3 or Max Payne 3

You will definitely benefit from a better nvidia card. I've tried to many cards in the past and there was a noticeable difference especially with how much you can push your sliders, HD clouds .... etc

It will perform much better in 90% of the games without doubt. But as we all know, FSX does us the GPU, but not as much as the other games. There was a significant difference of around 10-15 fps between the 400 and 500 series. I hope it's gonna be the same again.I've just heard good and bad news about the GTX 680. I read that it's just a chip of the GTX 560, but then extreme overclocked. This might be bad news, because if they increased the voltage a lot to reach those overclocks, the card might wear really quickly. But if they managed to reach those overclocks on low voltages, then it's all fine. The good news is, that FSX doesn't take advantage of newer generation chips it seems, but it does take much advantage of the speed of the card. I once tried overclocking my GTX 580 to 900 MHz, and got almost 10 fps more! If this thing runs at 1000 MHz, this means we might be able to run at a minimum of 60 fps, if we have IB at 5 GHz+.

Good luck getting anywhere near a framerate like that when close to a super detailed international airport/lots of AI planes/dense autogen/AA+AF combo.

The 680 does NOT have the 560 chip. The 680 does run the chip which was originally intended for the 660 though. The 5-series and 6-series differ greatly in terms of technology, production and engineering. It is highly questionable whether we will ever see the chip, which was intended for the 680, in a card available to the masses.FSX is not a GPU intensive program, so going from a 580 to a 680 will not give much in terms of performance. Those 60 fps you speak of might be possible in the middle of Africa, but you won't be anywhere near that figure in denser areas.Going from SB to IB will improve performance, especially with a decent overclock.

It came out around 1 and a half years ago. And the difference between the 580 and 680 is around 30-50%. Well, if that's the case in FSX too, then I'll upgrade, no doubt.

The fastest way to lose a shed load of money if you have the GTX580 and expect to see some kind of magic bullet for improved performance. The difference between the two cards in benchmark tests or in PC games may well be impressive but in FSX it's a different ball game.

Really? That seems a little dubious. 15 for a video card change? Are you sure that isn't a placebo effect?

Hi Argen, please forgive me as I don't want to be disrespectful, but that statement is a load of pure nonsense! I have personally owned both the GTX470 and the GTX580 and done a side by side comparison and I can assure you there was virtually no difference in framerate whatsoever! So, while we know every rig is different and maybe, just maybe someone has gained a couple of frames, there is no way on this earth that you can get a framerate increase of that magnitude in FSX, going from the 400 series to the 500 series GPU.
