Is Flight running out of fuel ?

Featured Replies

Most people have been using Flight since Feb 28/29 . . . 3 to 4 weeks. I've been using it since Jan 5th (and the DLC since Jan 11th) . . . 10 to 11 weeks. The newness has worn off, while my frustration has grown.
Understandable.Thanks,
If I have one fault with flight! its that they played it too safe on the technology front. The originators of DirectX, with all the expertise at their disposal could have really wowed us as to what Microsoft was capable of, but they choose a quicker, easier cheaper route and stuck to DX9 (XboX, perhaps?) and modified FSX assets.
I agree, I was somewhat suprised to see Flight did not take advantage of DX10, especially considering MS being the developer, which many new sims these days do. As far as backwards compatible, they can offer both DX9 and DX10 for graphics. IL2 Cliffs of Dover, a recent addition to my flight sim stables, was released a year ago - and it defaults to using DX10 graphics - with the option to configure it to run in DX9 for those users that have to - while I am still very new with it, I understand the graphics are far superior in it with DX10 versus DX9.

Can we state that Joshua Howard latest interview produced 2 strong effects ?1) He killed the hopes of everybody2) He has been honest and pulled of the mask from Flight, it must be said.

1) He killed the hopes of everybody
I guess I am still a glass half full guy - whilst there was some stuff in there somewhat dissappointing, some of it I read as hopeful, so it did not remove the hope I still have for it , in my mind...Now that may diminish as time passes and I see what kind of stuff is added during that time, but I am not ready to give up on it just yet.

I feel bored of transporting imaginary pigs over and over again, over and over the same routes over and over the same mountain.
You didn't understand MS genial plans. They announced Alaska, but are secretely working on a revolutionary DLC, with the graphic engine of Crysis, where you can exit from the plane and combat to free Hawaii from the millions of evil (angry?) pigs that, for unkonwn reasons, invaded the islands recently Big%20Grin.gifA.

Glass half empty? I really did not hear anything that was not dictated mostly by financial reality, as opposed to fan hopes. (and it isn't the fans money on the line!)Well..... perhaps some dicking around by higher ups, but then higher ups usually have their (place unflattering comment here) up their (finish unflattering comment) :LMAO:

What he said didn't totally kill any hopes I have for Flight, but it did make me considerable less hopeful that Flight would succeed.

I don't believe that the mask was pulled off entirely . . . but he let it slip down a bit.

I admire your optimism but I tend to be realistic instead of being pessimistic.I think you all are breathing the same air I smelt roughly a week ago and a experienced flight lover knows this air very well. You can try to ignore it or consider it a temporary gust of wind produced by a working garbage truck but to me it seems the smell of death.

I'm very much a realist. Being optimistic doesn't mean that I view the world through rose-colored glasses . . . it just means that I tend to see hope, even when it might be difficult for others to see.I'm also a sailor: "The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.” - William Arthur WardMany are complaining about the wind. Joshua Howard is just expecting the wind to change. The optimist in me knows that Flight can still be saved, but only if Microsoft adjusts Flight's sails. But I'm concerned that Joshua Howard is going to let it sink, due to inaction.

With you as one of the vultures circling overhead perchance? You may or may not be correct, IMHO you are not, but your consistent negativity is certainly a feature of your posts in this forum.

Give people power to really test their personality.

Took my 737 PMDG out for a semi long haul from KTYS to KSAN yesterday. It was sad and sweet at the same time. I love the sim reality, but really miss the graphics and smoothness of Flight.

I'm a bit in the minority here, looks like...I'm not bored with Flight yet. BUT - I get very little time to experience it...typically able to fire it up, do the daily aerocache, and then MAYBE a mission. My limited flying does allow me a repeated challenge - actually getting a respectable landing in the Stearman! Two things that would ward off boredom, should it occur, would be a helicopter and a slower, stable IFR capable plane like a 172...the helicopter for fairly obvious reasons, and the 172 because I just can't get the hang of the RV (as much as I would like to) and am WAY behind the power curve on ILS approaches.Still plan on buying Alaska - for the main reason I bought Hawaii - spent a lot of time there, want to see how they've modeled it.So for me - Flight is perfect for low and slow, I'm happy with it. Still go back to FS9 for my "chopper fix", but if they put out helicopter DLC, my limited time will be spent in Flight.

I for one like the empty world just fine. No ATC to bother me, no big jets to get in the way. Just fun, fun, and more fun. I have been flight simming for many years and I have never felt this fun factor before.Part of it is I know the Hawaiian islands pretty well. Used to have a time share in Princeville Kauai and hang out at Princeville airport just to watch the local traffic. Driven around the Island and back, can't go all the way around by car, hiked the Na Pali coast trails. So much to see on all the other islands too. Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial is not to be missed. I have not been to Alaska but am really looking forward to exploring it in all it's vast splendor. Some of you people should really get a life. I have a brand new copy of FSX Gold and like that also but for different reasons.

No, most of us are running out of "hope", and, after the initial enthusiasm, I really can't understand why?CHECKLIST:- Let's forget about FLIGHT! A new company produces a GA flightsim offering just a few aircraft, but promissing additional add-ons for the near future. Would this sound interesting to you? Would you buy it?- The scenery in that sim is limited but rather detailled and immersive, the same going for Weather, and the overall physics model, looking at least as good as the best add-ons for your preferred sim until now (either xplane or fsx...). Would you go or it? Would you give it a try?- At the same time xplane and fsx continue their journey, but you know exactly what it offers, and either you like it or you are no longer up to it, but... Would you still enjoy playing that new sim?My answer is YES for all of the checks... What about you?

Is it acceptable now in the forum defining others as "vultures"? Just asking, it is always interesting to expand the dictionary :-)A.

Due to what Mark II wrote, I don't see any issue with:

Context is always important, for me to determine how appropriate any comment might be.
