Is Flight running out of fuel ?

Featured Replies

After the new-toy effect I feel quite bored doing missions and aerocaches searches.I would now feel the missing of an ATC, a real weather engine, jets, FMC, etc etc.. let's say pretty much the simulation aspects that Flight is missing.I feel bored of transporting imaginary pigs over and over again, over and over the same routes over and over the same mountain. Rewards in addition give you nothing but a number of XP points, that's a repetitive routine I am bored of.I would like to warn MS that without simming aspects the upcoming weeks will be cruel in terms of DLC purchases, except few casual gamers buying Alaska and the Beaver that BTW is a Maule with the water landing capability of the Icon, nothing new therefore.

It did for me.. a week ago I was all but convinced 100% I would buy Alaska.. Now I'm in a permanent holding pattern.. Once you get over the challenges, doing the same jobs over and over and over and over again, all that was left was multiplayer for some diversity. That even got boring because it's just the same routine. If Alaska is just new scenery, challenges and planes I'll probably hold off. Still a supporter of what MS are trying to do with it but after extended duration of game play the linear simplicity of the core really starts to show.

You still can have fun with fsx

Free mind, young attitude.

The recent arrival of GMap for Flight from FSWidgets; teamed up with the excellent Plan-G from TASoftware; has enabled me to use Flight much more realistically as a GA flying tool. Trying to fly by VFR/IFR rules and getting lost rather too often. OK I know I can do this with the other sims but Flight works better on my humble laptop and the quality of graphics etc work just great. As always this comes down to personal choice. I like it, it works for me. For others it doe not , or will not for long. So it is good to know that there are still sims out there to satisfy the needs that may not be met for you by Flight.

I feel the same. Unless the simulator aspects are expanded/improved, I probably won't be purchasing the Alaska Pack or any other DLC. Up until a week ago, Flight has been getting most of my flightsim time (since early Jan) . . . now I'm back using FSX as my preferred flightsim. There's a lot that I like about Flight, but currently too many simulator aspects are not present, which makes Flight frustrating for me.

To be honest, with the extremely limited autogen assets within the vanilla game, Fsx wasn't exactly riveting either, until Tileproxy appeared. All of a sudden I did want to fly everywhere in the world when there were red world features to enjoy. To me, Flight will work as long as they keep releasing distinct regions to fly. It is normal that interest will wane between releases, but that's why I have Rise of Flight (and hopefully World of Planes soon) to alternate between.

Yes, it's running out of fuel quickly. And looking at the release schedule (1 plane a month, 3 to 4 regions a year) it will be running out of fuel constantly. I've been having a blast learning to use VOR and learning to read and use real world approach charts (simply because Flight doesn't have a GPS  ) but even then I am getting bored flying over those same little islands all the time with the same limited airplane (can't check the VOR by morse code (EDIT And of course, after typing this I discovered I can check the morse code... ), can't effectively use mixture, don't even have a parking brake and I am getting more and more annoyed by the crappy joystick support, even with the tweaks...). I really hope Alaska will be released soon and that they will also FIX things and add stuff, otherwise I probably stop flying altogether (yes, I know I still have FSX but after flying around in Flight, I can't really stand FSX anymore...)It's odd, last week was awesome, learing about VOR and reading charts, but now I know all that I suddenly seem to discover how EXTREMELY limited MS Flight is in ALL regards... apart from the looks department: flying during dawn or dusk or in fog is great... but not great enough to keep me entertained, I fear.

To be fair, I don't think the extreme enthusiasts were ever going to be satisfied for long, as the high level of interest practically guaranteed they would spend more time, and burn through content faster than average. I would call it a kind of burnout; as many have been eating, drinking and breathing flight from the moment it came out, and some of us from even before that! Not that concerning yet, as we all know that the initial stage of flight is aimed at more casual players. If I understand enough to predict some of this, then MS focus groups and etc almost certainly do as well, and will be acting accordingly. After all, we have waited much longer for other more full featured Sims to be usable, and we are still waiting.Less than a month after the release of FSX most people were yelling "FS9 forever!!"

I havent flown Flight in the last week. Just as OP says, im bored of flying patients, nurses, pigs, cats etc. The lack of interest comes purely because i dont have a purpose. The only purpose is to get more XP. It would be so nice to receive money to maintain your aircraft and eventually buy a new or bigger aircraft etc. But after reading the interview i think to myself: dream on. I will look at Flight again after a year or so. For now it has been a expensive game...

Saitek Proflight Yoke + Rudders + 2 extra throttle quadrants // Track IR 4.0 // VRinsight T&T Panel // Logitech 3D Extreme // Saitek X55//  1000 cables...

The game play aspect aside one does see that the total number of readers in the different forums has shifted back to FSX platform forums, averages seem to be down 50% in the Flight forum this week compared to last.Other figures i have indicate some rather tepid results, based in part on these and commentary across the gaming sites leads me to feel that the product is getting stale already and will require a increase in the " Cadence " of its content releases to maintain the buzz or there will only be zzzzzz 's .

I would say that MS if smart (and especially since the release is not too far off, supposedly) should be giving a lot more solid data on Alaska. My use of Flight! has tailed off a bit and that is not unexpected; On the other hand, my use of FSX has flat-lined, and I am not sure if it can be revived. Even Orbx cannot tempt me.And XplaneX................Is most grimly and determinedly aimed at somebody else, though I do toy with it.

If there's one new plane per month, there should be one due any minute now.I'm in no hurry for Alaska. Of course, I want to get it eventually, but I haven't done everything there is to do in Hawaii yet... and this is with 120 flight hours logged each in the beta and release versions. If I get tired of one activity, I do another. Tired of cargo/passenger runs? Go rescue that damn kayaker again. Do a $100 hamburger run and see what it takes to scare a passenger or make them sick... and how close I can come without doing it. In the mean time, my main activity is collecting landmarks on biplane tours. My high score so far is 31, 30 without refueling. When I get tired of that I'll try to better my score on landing challenges. If you're not sure what to do next, look at the awards and achievements. There's alway something else to do.Hook

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

If I was a betting person, I would say the vast majority of downloaders are not even partially through the challenges, and my online experience shows that many, while interested in the Island DLC, are wary of the price point. I suspect that boredom will come quickest for those without the interest in buying the island pack, and since MS probably has megatons of usage data, they will know all about any trends like that long before we do. (Traditionally, the quickest way to alleviate DLC price shock has been sales on old content as additional DLC is introduced)They probably have meetings every day on it!I also wonder if the advanced instrumentation people are calling for really has a place in the current DLC. I might expect a surprise or two from Alaska. A region where it would be more useful.....

Yep, chalk up another who is growing bored (and fat) consuming all those burgers, tired of women passengers who forget to pee before boarding, and looking out the windshield at a lifeless Hawaii. Also, four aircraft might be a dream come true in real life, but simulation for me is the possiblity of flying a vast array of planes, as previous versions of MFS have provided. After a couple weeks of Flight, I have begun to go home: To FSX. I imagine I might, from time to time, play a round or two of Flight, but I will wait for some 'major' expansions to happen before spending any cash on it. Cheers!

I bet the next plane is a Beaver!!! (By the way, if this thread turns into a Flight is dead thread, with all the old suspects coming in to +1 anything that seems negative, I am outta here!)Just my feelings on it.
