Lockheed Martin has just dropped the price of Prepare3D from 500 dollars to 200 dollarsand are also offering a " Home " licence for under 50 dollars.
Wow, now that is a very significant price drop.I would hate to be one that purchased it say a month ago or so...

Very, very interesting.

Try as I might, I cannot find what concrete advantages P3D gives to one who already has a well running FSX installation. I have read forums and I see lots of excitement, but as soon as somebody says its this (faster, for instance) another says "Nope. Negative"I don't know what to think about it, and even videos are unrevealing.

I suppose the fact that it is actually in development and you can ask the Devs questions etc is an important part of it for many. There have been tons of fixes and new features since Ver 1.0 almost a year ago.Ver 2.0 will be full DX-11 compatible and I'm sure will have lots of new stuff too.Fred.

Yes, thats all true. You can see also in Multiplayer. in the first weeks i met with about 8-10 people each evening. Now there are only 1-3 left.Someone should show this thread to the people responsible for MS Flight, so that they do something quickly. otherwise it will die.
the MS folks already know the average number of multiplayers on a daily basis. They also know the rate of download of the base package and DLC content. They dont need this thread to know......

Probably many gamers who got Flight are now uninstalling it for being generally too boring for them, as you cant shoot anything in it.Thats why drop in multiplayer users.

This was the argument since day one with which most of you vocalized and NONE of us understood! WHO EXACTLY IS FLIGHT FOR that MS is going to make any money with this? NO ONE! Not in the presented state will it keep any revenue stream that makes business sense. OOOH Alaska will become available WONDERFUL, without any other real world ATC/AI/traffic/Life or being able to use all existing hardware! We as consumers may say one day they'll have everything in place but in my opinion they won't have the resources to ever get there when the feedback of their current path comes in to the bean counters. It's a HUGE SHAME to me and I am VERY VERY disappointed. Excited to be a beta tester when I was and ran out of steam after trying all the missions and reporting the bugs. Here it is a released product with such potential and no wheels on the track as I felt it would be.

I think a lot of us suddenly have that sinking feeling.Flight, what there is of it, is really good. A lot of us have said so. But what is it? Is it a game or is it a sim or is it both? Clearly it is both. Yet the simming community, all potential customers, feels left out. Not being listened to - not the target audience. We do not know what the future plans are for this game/sim. On that basis, for ail we know, we could be wasting our money if we invest any further in it. Why is MS not marketing this product? Why are simmers not part of the target audience? Does MS think that we will just buy it anyway because we are simmers. I may be talking total rot. But something just does not add up.

Simmers are not part of the project because far too many of us behaved like childish brats! (and the ones who did not are likely to gravitate to the stability of this forum or be under NDA!) The honest fact is that if I was MS and saw the destructive backlash and outright forum thread sabotage that was and still is being unleashed across the web, I would be feeling quite uncharitable at the moment. Beyond that, MS has traditionally been secretive. And beyond even that, an interview meant to engage the community a bit more is being interpreted any old way. The Facebook page has been effectively hijacked by a vocal and bitter minority.............MS is not talking to us? I would barely be talking to us!!!The base calculation for MS is going to be ROI. If it is possible to maximize that by offering content more specific to the needs of this niche, it will be done, but right now, the behavior of a few has probably actually hurt sales if anything. As was said in the interview, we have done an absolutely excellent job of making ourselves less relevant as a target market. And then we wonder why more meat is not immediately in line to be thrown our way..........Can we be pleased by anything short of the return of FSX in greater glory? And how long did it take FSX to become accepted again........................?Oh, wait. People are still using FS9!Tough crowd.

Joshua Howard interview reduced the future DLC copies sold by 30-35%. Great marketing move Joshua ! Anyway better to know the truth now than keeping on hoping for nothing. Now, how about guys to do something in order to let Arwen take Joshua Howard place ? I am sure that within 2 months we would have the best flight simulation ever seen in the world history. What can we do ? Pretty much nothing but time will do it somehow.

I've seen a number of projects with fantastic potential brought down by management determined to go the wrong way or by short-sighted bean-counters having too much power in the organization. Sadly, Flight appears to suffer from both.

Why is it that so much corporate culture is focused on profit and market control rather than product quality and consumer desires? It used to be that to sell mousetraps, you had to make a better one if you wanted to take over the market. Today's mentality is a rush to short term profits, caveat emptor. FSX and X-Plane can be dumbed down to fill the FLIGHT niche, but will FLIGHT ever be expanded to fill the needs of serious simmers, and what will it cost in the end? If the target market is to bring the x-boxers on board, great, but what holds them? How deep are their pockets? "We" are the ones who spend the money on enhancements. We don't spend money on expansion because it's already built into FSX and X-Plane. FLIGHT is just the opposite, being built with enhancements in the form of eye-candy, and with virtually unlimited potential for expansion profits. It's backwards. Will it work?

One common thing I remember hearing people say about flight sims: "Boring."Flight is great, for what it is, but it's also limited. The idea of making a 200nm flight in real time in a Maule, most people would never dream of it. Sure, you can skip to the next waypoint, but that doesn't do much to change the impression.Someone asked how people could be getting bored with Flight when it's the same things as FSX: making flights from one place to another. That's true, but in FSX, you weren't limited to making your flights using slow aircraft in a tiny part of the world. If you got tired of Hawaii, you could visit the strip in Las Vegas, or see the Sphinx in Cairo. They had even teased us with space, although we couldn't control the aircraft much above 100,000 feet. What will Alaska be like? Can you imagine someone trying to fly 800 miles, by hand, in real time, in a Maule, or Beaver, or whatever else we get?I've tried to stay positive, and there are many aspects of Flight that I enjoy. But I'm also starting to see some fractures.
