April 1, 201214 yr Hahhaha! Looks like Avsim started their April Fools joke. Anyone notice all images rotate like crazy when you hover over them?
April 1, 201214 yr Good! I do not want a TriStar. I'd rather an A330. Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
April 1, 201214 yr Moderator I had a mini-heart attack.Me too!!! I saw it in the right hand column on the main page as a most viewed post and got really excited. Too bad it was an early April Fools joke as I would really like to have a PMDG version on that a/c :-( Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

April 1, 201214 yr AHAHA I Should Probably Stay Off The Forum Today So I Don't Have A Heart Attack :( Jordan Ridener
April 1, 201214 yr does the spinning sigs have any correlations to april fools? I had an even better one on facebook btw hehe :( :D Joe Barton
April 1, 201214 yr i hate you for this :( a PMDG L1011 would be my no1 aircraft and you just destroyed this dream... Tebin Ulrich
April 1, 201214 yr I would have fallen for this if I hadn't watched the PMDG videos on YouTube yesterday. RR said the MD-11 was their most disappointing-selling project. Which makes no sense to me, because it is an awesome a/c and an awesome sim. Drive by KEWR before midnight and it's practically the only a/c visible (FedEx and UPS liveries).Anyone know why all the avatars and sig banners are rotating?Dan "lensman" Davison --Dan "lensman" Davisonrs
April 1, 201214 yr 1) I'm perplexed as to why the MD11 didn't sell more. It's really a great aircraft and for folks who have been training on Boeing systems its refreshing to learn new things. (IMO)2) From my own observations (at close range) there might be a few MD11s. For FDX specifically I know of more MD10s.3) Avatars rotating is a April Fools thing. Love when sites do good April Fool's jokes4) An L1011 would be nice and so would a AN225! :( "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
April 1, 201214 yr The lack of sales for the PMDG MD-11 is probably for one of four reasons, or possibly all four of them.First, it was heavily pirated by some well known sites, which I won't do the service of mentioning here, especially in its FS9 incarnation.Second, it is neither a Boeing nor an Airbus, and these are what most people want when you talk about big jets in flight sims.Third, the real MD-11 was not popular with the passenger airlines. Part of that lack of popularity was down to timing, where tri-jets were on their way out with the advent of ETOPs, and part of it was down to it being tricky to fly, and some of it is down to the fact that the MD-11's tail mounted engine means that sound from it carries a long way because of its height above the ground. All of those factors meant that the airlines got rid of them ASAP and palmed them off on freight carriers, who bought them because they were cheap, which somewhat offsets the lack of economy in operating them. The lack of popularity is therefore reflected in the simming world by the kind of people who buy PMDG products, i.e. those who very often like to simulate passenger flights to big passenger airports rather than freight hubs.Fourth it is a long-range aircraft. This, by definition reduces the amount of potential buyers, since not everyone wants to make very long flights, and accounts for the popularity of various 737 variants from all developers. It is true that the PMDG 747 is also a long range aircraft, but that has the advantage of being an iconic aircraft which many want to try out, also a Boeing, and also it is possible to pretend it is a 400D variant, not to mention the fact that it was PMDG's flagship product and a tour-de-force of innovative in-depth simulation.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

I was reading your post about the Mitsubishi and found that a good read as well.In reagrd to the RL aspect, when I'm at work and mention it, I can't get a straight answer. (Maybe if I was in MEM I would!) I can't trust Wiki-whatever as they are user generated. For FSX, the depth of the simulation alone should be worth the price. It's a shame that piracy is so rampant. Especially in such a small community as FSX. "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
April 1, 201214 yr Commercial Member Actually - where's Robert's regularly scheduled April Fools "announcement"? I've enjoyed those through the years - or mostly I've enjoyed people's reactions to them hehe. Noah Bryant
