April 10, 201214 yr Neil, I am sure many are concerned about the performance hit, so if you have time, would you mind loading up the lite version and see what you find? Regards Bob Yes....as much as I want this, I dont want it to be a FPS killer. April 10, 201214 yr The RXP is not an easy swap incidentally, - just tried it. What does this mean? I double that question. Talking about swapping the Carenado G400 with the RXP430. Does (at least the RXP display) show up in the VC? Can it drive the AP and give e.g. inputs for the flight director? I have no doubts that the Avidyne unit is nice. I intend to keep it, but I'm looking for the main nav data coming from the RXP430 unit. So many nice approaches there. On that lite model. What exactly are the changes coming with it? I could live with some missing cabin views (I hardly use them), but are these the only altered items? Got a list somewhere in the docs? Sorry, so many questions. Just means I'm very interested and appreciate all input before buying. Thanks for your work so far, guys.
April 10, 201214 yr It's really stunning! It's like Carenado have moved into a different league with this one; there is audio when you click switches and dial knobs in the VC; gone is the usual 'dead' Carenado cockpit. I loaded up the 'Lite' version first, as I'm not bothered about having a cabin to sit in; too busy flying this demanding aircraft! ....... Frames are great with the Lite version: I don't think anyone will have a problem. On my system (i7 2600k HD 5770 1GB), I am getting slightly better frame rates with the lite version of this, than I get with Carenado's C340. Maybe that gives a bit of a comparison. I have quite heavy weather set up, and taking off from UK2000 Newcastle Xtreme, I have a solid 42 FPS, with my usual externally locked FPS deactivated. I haven't tested the non-lite version yet so can't comment. FDE seems pretty good: you're never going to mistake it for a RealAir model, to fly, but I'd classify it as "above average for a Carenado FDE". Stick, were you able to get somewhat of a comparison of the HD version vs. the light version? If so, is there a discernible difference in performance? Bob Officially retired
April 10, 201214 yr Just completed some comparisons between the LITE and 'normal' versions at my UK200 EGCC payware scenery. Very strange... tried this about three times to confirm what I was seeing but I seem to be getting 2-4 FPS less in the LITE version than in the normal one. That's without the VC cabin modelled ?? Can't see anything in the documentation to point out a list of differences. Just wondering if Al can confirm anything similar performance wise ? I'll mess around some more, but got some family stuff to take care of for the next hour or so....... Neil Burgess

If your in the VC, I would think that you probably will not see that much difference between the two since the only difference really should be the memory footprint of the additional textures for the cabin. I could be wrong of course because I am not a programmer, but to me that conclusion seems logical. With all things the same and you are getting less frames, something is not right. April 10, 201214 yr If it doesn't have RXP interagtion like the other do I am not buying it, I do not know why they wouldn't make it like they did the C210, there is no way Im using that Default GPS, no matter what it says Avydyne or Gamrin or whatever, its still the same garbage default FSX GPS at the core. Ditto.... There's a perfect little spot for the RXP 430W just below the EX500 - I don't see why they wouldn't include the option. It's been possible to place in the VC of at least the last five releases. I won't even consider purchasing until it has RXP support... sorry Carenado. RXP support is critical for vatsim/Pilot Edge ops - about 95% of my flying... In case anyone is confused by where it should go.... it would fit perfectly right here: | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 10, 201214 yr FDE seems pretty good: you're never going to mistake it for a RealAir model, to fly, but I'd classify it as "above average for a Carenado FDE". I think Bernt Stolle had that one, so you may be able to throw some numbers on the FDE and receive a proper reaction. With Bernt's involvement, Carenado planes really matured for me. One of the best decisions Carenado ever made, to allow him to be a co-worker.

What took yo so long? I read the RXP was not going to work with this bird and knew you would be here soon. Bob Officially retired
April 10, 201214 yr I had to work some airplanes today.... five day work weeks are so terrible lol.... I don't see why they neglected to include it... they did a nice job on the Jetprop with it.... Hopefully a service pack later on down the road will address it. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 10, 201214 yr Exactly like Ryan's screenshot says shows, that's my plan too. The RXP GPS below the Avidyne, replacing the Carenado GPS unit.
April 10, 201214 yr I also want to be clear... that people point out the negatives first... that's what I'm doing because I'm a tiny bit miffed that the RXP option isn't available. Having said that the plane looks gorgeous - the cockpit, exterior, everything looks awesome. I could easily fly it on vatsim as /A (transponder /mode C with dme) - which would still be a lot of fun. But I don't usually invest in addons anymore unless they've got Navigraph support or RXP support... just a personal thing. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 10, 201214 yr For now, you can leave the GPS400 in the panel, and pop up the GNS430 when you click on the face of the 400. The 430 will drive the autopilot and, with V1.6. the RXP GNS will populate the GPS400 and Collins EADI with waypoint info, as well as providing the flightplan info to the Avidyne. Not seamless, but quite powerful.. Bert
April 10, 201214 yr Ok, that's good news on the proof of concept. Thanks, Bert. What's blocking the VC display? The 3D model being 'above' the RXP unit then?
