New RA Lancair screenie :)

One of the nicer glass displays is on Ant's Eaglet... very simple and easy to view. Of course it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that others have such as the F1 C182...

Thanks for the recommendation Ryan. Looks like an interesting plane AND has the option for traditional gauges.

I'm actually doing OK with some other partial glass planes like the Carenado JetProp, though my scan still gravitates to the analog airspeed indicator and altimeter and is frustrated because the VSI is so hard to read/interpret. I also find it frustrating because even in some of the best glass sims, the features that would really make glass shine aren't implemented. I understand why, but feel like I give up analog clarity but don't get all the glass advantages.

Full glass, like Flight1's Mustang continues to frustrate me. I SEE what a great plane it is, but I just can't, well SEE. I fly it, want to like it but can't quite get into it. On the other end of the spectrum, analog planes with good RXP implementations like Carenado's 337 and RealAir's Dukes pull me in again and again and again.

When I peer into the cockpit of a new or re-done GA or experimental plane and see a panel with nothing but a coupla flatscreens, well... it just feels so souless.

I see a sportscar flashy look....

Nice! I hereby withdraw my "souless" comment.

No.......

I was just stuck with the six pac,

Ooooh, very nice! Steam gauges paired with a double GNS 530 (first thing I'll do

is putting in the excellent RXP GNS gauges) is a beautiful setup. Really looking forward to its release!

Wow! Look at those gauges! It's gonna be hard to keep my credit card in my wallet!

Cheers,

Noel.

Do we need the unlimited package to put two? Ie can we still put two separate gauges without crossfill?

I love the OAT gauge.

You can have two separates in the B60T without crossfill...

I wish F1 had done the same in the Cardinal 177 package...

It looks by far the best Lancair made.

Practically speaking, you cannot install two of the same GNS gauges (2X530 or 2X430)

without the Unlimited package. If you do, you have two copies of the same gauge, ie you

cannot select different screens on the two copies..

Here we have a lot in common with Duke's gauges. Probably Rob and Sean have decided to use instruments they've already built in the past. This sounds to me like a resources optimzations... Nothing bad about this, since Lancair Legacy is experimental and every cockpit is different, according to customers needs/budget.

Instruments in common with the Duke:

- attitude indicator

- altimeter

- turn coordinator (without the Beechcraft mark)

- horizontal situation indicator

- variometer

- course deviation indicator

- radio magnetic indicator

- avionics (com/nav/adf/dme/transponder/autopilot)

New stuff:

- AOA indicator

- possibility to install 2 GNS 530 (so like Bert said, we need to have the RXP Unlimited Pack)

- VM1000C engine display

I see another instrument between the compass and the RMI (2nd image here), but I can't recognise it... maybe it's a backup altimeter (just guessing).

To sum up, i really like this cockpit layout (even if they've "recycled" lots of gauges from the Duke)!

The only negative thing I've found is about flying IFR with this plane. It's not so good to have an instrument on the right side and the six pack on the left. I'm talking about the RMI (especially concerning the adf needle)... still used here in Europe for NDB/locator approaches :D

Anyway GPS approaches are spreading and NDB are going to be decommissioned, so this is not a BIG problem.

Maybe a "solution" could be the possibility to switch the CDI and RMI positions in the cockpit. I think it's better to have the RMI on the left.

Just my two cents. :Peace:

Nothing bad about using some of the Duke's instrumentation, right? These are very well made and fluently working 3D gauges which are an important factor to the outstanding immersion the RA Dukes give me.

Thanks Bert. I stand corrected. I have the 530 and 430 "side by side" in the B60T if I can remember correctly. It would be of course nice to have all options, single and dual gps with and without crossfill
