May 22, 201214 yr Here we have a lot in common with Duke's gauges. Probably Rob and Sean have decided to use instruments they've already built in the past. This sounds to me like a resources optimzations... Nothing bad about this, since Lancair Legacy is experimental and every cockpit is different, according to customers needs/budget. Maybe a "solution" could be the possibility to switch the CDI and RMI positions in the cockpit. I think it's better to have the RMI on the left. Just my two cents. :Peace: We don't recycle gauges for the sake of it, and I know you weren't saying that, but even the "recycled" ones have their custom reflections, backlighting and a whole lot of other time consuming custom stuff that is not apparent from one screenshot, so as far as we are concerned they are new gauges! We did consider other layouts and square gauges too, but they just don't have the aesthetic appeal of steam gauges. We looked at various layouts in the real Legacy world (there are many variations as you know) and there are always compromises to be made, but the layout we chose was the one we felt was the most attractive, and practical overall. May 22, 201214 yr I'm sold, and this aircraft will be a great complement to the Duke already in my hangar. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
May 22, 201214 yr Thank you Rob for your answer. I just wanted to know why you chose the same instruments of the Duke. Now I know. :) About the CDI/RMI position, please think about it. A panel layout configurator (like the one of the Citabria/Scout) will be appreciated.
May 22, 201214 yr I think it's better to have the RMI on the left. +1 Nevertheless a really nice panel setup! Credit card ready. Mauricio Brentano
May 22, 201214 yr Very nice indeed, and I will feel at home with RealAir "patented" instruments :) But I would really like a "glass cockpit" version also, glass is here to stay and more and more real planes have it. I understand the amount of work put into this release, maybe next version? Anyway I'll buy this one as soon as it is released LDS
May 22, 201214 yr Beautiful screenshots again. If I could, I would wish for some electronic thingy like the Sandel for example. http://www.sandel.com/SN3500.php The rest of the instrument bunch being analogue is a win indeed, but I think the extra detail those map displays can give is a welcome addition to a GA plane. Even more so since the RXP gauges can stream the flight plan to FSX gauges. Or something like the EFD1000. http://www.aspenavio.../efd1000-pilot/ The middle gauges already a have square format (in comparison to the surrounding round ones), so the actual shape may still look classy enough while offering some current electronic display. Means quite some dev work too of course with the detail those gauges have to offer. Never mind, just thinking about some options on that surely awesome plane.
May 22, 201214 yr That leads me to the question why RXP haven't done a port over of their Sandel gauges to FSX yet... An EHSI with map function would be a great thing for many FSX GA addons.
May 22, 201214 yr Anyone remember the freeware Lancair during the FS9 days? The inside gauges were average but the paintjob on it was awesome.. It used to be my fav. It had a nice metalic yellow paint job (tweety bird on the tail) I hope someone would do that paint job on this lancair. I searched for that in the library and I can't find it.. and Its not in my PC either. I wonder where I lost it. Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
May 22, 201214 yr I'm sorry for the dumb question, but since Manny has brought up the repaint situation I may ask it. I had a lot of trouble finding decent repaints for the T Duke. Is that because of some missing paint kit? If so, can we expect some paint kit for the Lance to give the friendly talents some good start? I'm no repaint guy (and no talent), so if you throw a paint kit at me I will look like this.
May 22, 201214 yr One of the glass panels Lancair offers is the Garmin G900X, it would a very interesting version, even without some of the advanced features (i.e. synthetic vision) but I guess that's a complex piece of hardware to code. LDS
May 23, 201214 yr We did consider other layouts and square gauges too, but they just don't have the aesthetic appeal of steam gauges. The VC shots look outrageously good. Among other things, I've always felt the Dukes had one of the nicest altimeters around, with easy to read and set Kollsman window(s) - no tooltips necessary - so I'm pleased to see a version of the same here. The more I see of this plane, the more I like it. Scott
May 23, 201214 yr ..........I had a lot of trouble finding decent repaints for the T Duke. Is that because of some missing paint kit? If so, can we expect some paint kit for the Lance to give the friendly talents some good start? Hi CooIP, The Turbine paintkit has been available for almost a year now. I think there are quite a few user repaints, but they are spread far and wide around the internet. May 23, 201214 yr Author The only negative thing I've found is about flying IFR with this plane. It's not so good to have an instrument on the right side and the six pack on the left. I'm talking about the RMI (especially concerning the adf needle)... still used here in Europe for NDB/locator approaches :D It really depends on the builder... my friend's lancair has the ADF gauge on the far right side as well... In the US, NDB approaches are becoming a thing of the past. They decommissioned one of ours in my airspace a few years back, now the approach is GPS only. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 23, 201214 yr Will there be performance charts for it, there wasnt for the Turbine Duke and I really miss those, I like to actually plan my flights Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
May 23, 201214 yr Hi CooIP, The Turbine paintkit has been available for almost a year now. Thanks for answering, Rob. Then I have to apologize for not being well informed. And I have to look harder for some more liveries.
