June 26, 201213 yr Hi all ! Some news here today, about the next 10.10 and the future 64-bit 10.20: http://developer.x-plane.com/2012/06/were-still-here-really/ Georges - OpenStreetMap - Ubuntu GNU/Linux -
June 26, 201213 yr 10.10 includes faster clouds on ATI hardware on Windows. Good news! Clouds, even at low settings, are a performance killer for my ATI HD6650M. Another thing I don't like in X-Plane clouds, is the fact that the cloud cover is too much, especially when cloud base is low. "Scattered" gives me, maybe, a 6/8 coverage, when it should be 3/8 or 4/8 max coverage. Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
June 26, 201213 yr Xplane not perfect, no product is and just want to see incremental improvements. Some like me just like the GA planes and fly low and slow. People can bash xplane, but it never pukes on me like FSX does nor did I need to spend as much freetime get things running right. Next update 10.10 comes out all download it. :Chicken: All support the little guys at xplane My main complaint. How X-Plane is justified by constant insinuations that FSX is nothing but pure trouble, to keep it running. I suppose when you have a product in which thousands of 3rd party add-ons are available, and perhaps still using sub-standard CPU's, then anything is possible. I upgraded for FSX & XP8. It's been years now, and trouble with FSX has been next to none. I suppose, that if I just came on board to these forums, I could be persuaded that FSX is very trouble prone right out of the box. That is non-sense, and not true. As I always say...........let X-Plane stand on it's own. Don't use FSX as an excuse. L.Adamson --- FSX, FS9, XP8 &9, 10 demo
June 26, 201213 yr Glad to know they are still working, the only thing I see of interest to me is the faster load times.
June 27, 201213 yr let X-Plane stand on it's own. Don't use FSX as an excuse. I think XPX stands quite well on it's own and shows a ton of promise. The reason a lot of us moved on from FSX is we found something better suited to our needs.
June 27, 201213 yr I think XPX stands quite well on it's own and shows a ton of promise. The reason a lot of us moved on from FSX is we found something better suited to our needs. Perhaps my needs are a bit more diverse. I see no reason to limit myself.............to a product, that's indeed LIMITED at this point. Since I have yet to feel, that XP is anymore "flightlike" than FSX, I'll do well, just to use all of these sims, for what purpose is best at the moment. Otherwise, extreme boredom would easily prevail..
June 27, 201213 yr My guess is that 10.2 will be the jewel. You just might be right about that. From Ben's recent post it looks like 10.10 will be the transition phase to 64-Bit in 10.20. But it's really good to know that the scenery is being addressed in 10.10.
June 27, 201213 yr 10.2 feels lightyears away. Still no 64-bit. It's a drama and a shame. * 2010 MacPro, 27' display * Snow Leopard * XP10 *

June 27, 201213 yr Im looking forward to faster load times and that new oil rig! Did I read something about a new plane being included a while back? Rob
June 27, 201213 yr Please, let the ATI fix be good, I would like to see some traffic and more clouds! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Richard 7950x3d | 32Gb 6000mHz RAM | 8Tb NVme | RTX 4090 | MSFS | P3D | XP12
June 28, 201213 yr FSX reminds me of car looks and runs good when the Equipment cost as much used car to run it decent. Xplane at least can scale it down to run decent and it does not require as fancy a computer to run it. 10.10 like what the updates are about improvements. FSX make have 10 times more users but I feel X-Plane is underappericated in some areas. FSX is good for VFR and scenery in certain regions and some aircraft but the plane itself feels too unstable. Xplane it feel like I can predict how the plane gonna react to which force if it rubber and trim on how it will react. I say, each to thier own.
