June 24, 201213 yr Moderator His signature says he has FlyTampa VHHH (Kai Tak). Diego, GSX will work at any airport that has an AFCAD file and parking spaces, be it payware or freeware. It doesn't need any special support from FSDT/GSX to work. For that matter, you could create your own fictional airport using ADEX, put in some parking spots and all the other amenities and GSX will recognize it and will work. You can also use the built in editor that GSX supplies and reposition the ground vehicles, tugs, and catering to meet the positions you want them to be in an save it. June 24, 201213 yr Moderator I know that. I'm talking to Mike. Pardon me for trying to answer your question, lol. Will FSDT add their own support for VHHH? It's possible, but as Trent said, any problems with the FlyTampa version could be attributed to either a bad AFCAD or a duplicate AFCAD. In which case, either you could either manually edit the FlyTampa AFCAD to support the required gate numbers so that GSX will recognize them, or if you open the AFCAD with ADEX and they are already properly numbered then there is probably a duplicate AFCAD installed that GSX is trying to read from in which case you will get some anomalies. As far as FSDT adding their own support for VHHH, they more than likely will not provide an updated or modified AFCAD for the scenery. The way the support for a particular airport works for them when they customize it, other than their own airports, is by repositioning the ground vehicles, catering trucks, baggage loaders, etc. so that they dont appear inside buidlings or stuck in a jetweway. FSDT more than likely wont provide AFCAD updates for other payware vendors airports to fix gate numbering issues, they only do that for their own airports. BTW, if FSDT doesn't "customize" an airport, you can do it yourself using the GSX tools they provide that way you dont need to wait for something that maybe wont come. June 24, 201213 yr Many scenery and airplane configs (all by users, as virtuali has better things to do like CYVR, more GSX updates, KJFK redo, and a secret second airport that may be released by the end of the year) are available in the FSDT forums. Fly Navy
June 25, 201213 yr Guys, thanks for the help. Like I said in my OP I have not had time to investigate the issue. The point I was trying to make was that the software has niggles out of the box (so to speak). I have been in Seattle all weekend so I have not had time to investigate or ask for support over at FSDT. When I have time I will investigate some of the options suggested here. By the way for clarification I am speaking about Fly Tampa VHHX Kaitak not VHHH. I don't have an addon airport in that region other than VHHX. Mike Keigley
June 25, 201213 yr most definitely worth it. I just got it this weekend and its amazing. Yes the jetways dont come out to automatically but it is 10000000X more realistic and the vehicles and handling services look 10000000X better. Max PMDG 747X & 737NGX Pilot

Most scenery add-ons do well with FSX, except Blue Print, which has a huge off-set. I will definitely need to customize since I own about ten of their airports. Yep, I had do those myself as well. Fortunately the mass edit function works well to disable the front left stair case for all the gates that have static jetways. I would have hated to do each parking spot one by one, it would have taken forever. I must say that I am enjoying the graphical editor to move the ground vehicles around when they sometimes show up half way into a building or mixed into a jetway. FSDT has really done a great job with this addon. Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 3, 201213 yr Author Test Scores from AP came in this week. (College class in high school). I got a 5, which was the highest possible. Now i'm treating myself to GSX :D Martin Harasimowicz

July 3, 201213 yr Depends what you like in your simming. If you like to jump in and fly and focus on operating the plane and don't care about nice sceneries other than to the extent they impact the look of take off and landing, then no it isn't worth it. If you like to simulate being an airline captain complete with the pain of loading and unloanding people and luggage and fuel, then it's a nice addition. I like it. It isn't perfect, and it sometimes gives me weird problems at other add-on airports, but as others have suggested it works great 90% of the time as a one stop shop. July 3, 201213 yr Thanks to all the +ve feed back here, pulled the trigger and bought it yesterday. One question left. As they are also offering 30% of their airports which runs out tomorrow, and the only 2 from the list that I do not have is Geneva and Fort Lauderdale. So, which of these two is the better visually, gates, etc where the newly-purchased GSX will be best effective? Thanks for any suggestions, in advance. Rick Almeida
