August 1, 201213 yr This thing better be everything people say it is, or if it's not, for everyone who recommended it, I'll... I'll hunt you down and shave your cat! Lol, I am betting you will love it! Prior to their adding support for it, Flight was the only flight sim I would fly without it and it felt like I had gone back about 15 years in flight simming. I am so glad they got that added before stopping future development. Don B
August 1, 201213 yr Just placed my order, will have it in 2 days. This thing better be everything people say it is, or if it's not, for everyone who recommended it, I'll... I'll hunt you down and shave your cat! I mean it! Hook - who keeps forgetting to do his neck exercises Mine should be delivered tomorrow. And indeed, if it's not ALL that, I will start with the Dutch cats (and dogs hamsters and parrakeets!) because there sure are some vocal advocates from around these parts :p0503:
August 1, 201213 yr I use Track IR with EzDok camera and the combination is brilliant. The only trouble I appear to be having is when lining up on approach, I cannot tell if my perspective is correct. I often find myself crabbing to the centre line ( unless using auto pilot of course) because my line of sight is slightly off. Hitting F12 will recenter the viewpoint but I still have problems. Also, I plan on designing a device to attach the Track clip Pro to as I don't require headphones on every flight. Anthony O'Brien
August 1, 201213 yr Just placed my order, will have it in 2 days. This thing better be everything people say it is It's better than we said! It's not something that can be described... just something you have to experience. or if it's not, for everyone who recommended it, I'll... I'll hunt you down and shave your cat! I mean it! Please do. That would be hilarious!
August 2, 201213 yr So... do I spring for it anyway For Flight? No. It's a dead product. It would only make sense if you were planning to make a move to a another sim.
August 2, 201213 yr For Flight? No. It's a dead product. It would only make sense if you were planning to make a move to a another sim. Flight is certainly not a dead product, future development for it is what is dead. In fact we may even see another dlc plane get released. There is a lot of flying that can be done in both Hawaii and Alaska, and for those that choose to do so, Track IR is a great device to use, plus they will have it for any other flight sims they might currently have or get in the future. Using your analogy, one could say FSX has been a dead product for years. And that would be far from the truth for FSX. Don B
August 2, 201213 yr The TrackclipPro is indeed weak, mine broke after two weeks, but not liking headphones, I made me this, I like it and it is sturdy... Hugo
August 2, 201213 yr Damn it! I'm going to have to buy it aren't I? I mean I got along without it all right all these years..I'd never even heard of it until TrackIR 3..I've been holding off as I don't wear headphones or a hat when I'm flying; looks like I'm going to have to start...meh JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

Really, wearing something silly-looking on your head is a tiny price to pay for what you get in return.
August 2, 201213 yr As we all know, flight is far from dead. I got mine just before flight went down. At first I was upset for a few days but I soon got over that and I would not think of flying without it now. I don't like wearing a hat to fly but I am getting used to it, it is well worth the effert. Yes, my wife thinks it looks silly but I can live with that. I will be trying the trakiR5 on FSX one of these days as I had bought the GOLD EDITION just before flight came out. I do know that it works well with aeroflyFS that I am playing around with now but MS flight is still my main flight sim. Mountain Man never has anything good to say anyway!
August 2, 201213 yr Author For Flight? No. It's a dead product. It would only make sense if you were planning to make a move to a another sim. You really ought to read through a thread before you post. In this case, post #30. Flight isn't any more dead than FSX. The dead product is another unnamed flight sim that I have no intention of ever buying. Since you've never tried Flight, wouldn't you be happier back on that unnamed flight sim's forum, rather than trolling this one? Actually, there are several flight sims I have no intention of ever buying. For example, FlightSimPro under various names. Most everyone knows it's the free Flight Gear repackaged and sold for way too much money. In other news, Amazong hasn't shipped it yet, so Monday at the earliest. I'm tempted to cancel the order and order through NaturalPoint with one day shipping. The difference in price would probably be no more than Amazon's final price which includes sales tax. August 2, 201213 yr In other news, Amazong hasn't shipped it yet, so Monday at the earliest. I'm tempted to cancel the order and order through NaturalPoint with one day shipping. The advantage you would have by ordering direct, would be the 30 day money back guarentee if that helped to ease your mind any, although I highly doubt you would need to use it. Don B
August 2, 201213 yr Author Amazon has a similar guarantee, I think. Doesn't matter though. NaturalPoint takes up to 10 business days to process a TrackIR order, so that's out. Amazon says the product is in stock, so I guess Monday is it. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
August 3, 201213 yr Those kittens are safe for sure! And I think that this might spark another one of your inspirational posts, Hook :P It really works a charm. Only setting up to do was installing the driver and launching Flight. Then to tweak the curves a little, the interface is a little awkward but is easy to understand and make it do what you want. I copied the "smooth" profile and edited the dead zone out and with a flare towards the end of the range so I get good precision in the middle and a nice view all around. Right now I'm having lots of fun landing in even stranger spots and just seeing sights and buzz some people's homes at 5AM. Ofcourse I'm looking around and bobbing in my seat like mad everywhere I fly to really test it but I know I will like it still after the novelty has worn off. Ofcourse it's useful to look around and better be able to judge a landing but the effect is also a lot more subtle than you'd think. It's modeled like your actually moving your head around in the cockpit. So instead of 'zooming' you really bend your head forward to look at that panel, or look around that strut to see the next turn in the tight gorge you are going to take. This really is the only game where I can just enjoy a nice flight on beautiful spring day flying through the mountains of Kodiak island, over the glaciers and snowy forests down the river to the stunning fjords... I guess Flight's still got it
August 3, 201213 yr Author UPS tracker said it left Oklahoma City (KOKC) for Sherman Texas (KSWI) at 4 AM, with an expected delivery of 8/3/12. If it makes it onto a truck for delivery, I'll have it in 12-15 hours. :D I downloaded the software and read through the online user's manual. I guess I'm about ready. There's not a lot in the manual, but it did list some features I wasn't sure about. I've got a couple of spare buttons on both my yoke and joystick I can assign to the TrackIR. This is kind of exciting, because in FSX I always wanted head tracking to fly a helicopter. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
