August 25, 201213 yr No passing will affect me more than that of the man who will be remembered for all time for taking that first human step into the universe. Not just an American, he was an ambassador for the whole of the human race. Dale Collins
August 25, 201213 yr As we remember the explorers and heros of the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, a thousand years from now, Neil Armstrong will be remembered for his one step. A step not taken as an American, but a step taken as a citizen of community earth.
August 25, 201213 yr On that evening in July 1969 Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon, and for a brief moment the world shared w/ us this great American accomplishment one which I remember well. For me, nothing can match this moment in history. It was an event filled with excitment and joy, and alot of happy tears and tears today at the loss of this real American and his life long accomplishments. As you look at the moon tonight remember all those who contributed to this time of exploration and this one man who had the skills to make it all happen. Thank You Neil for all you gave us
August 26, 201213 yr Rest in peace & God Speed! And Tom you're absolutely right, he shall be remembered for ever. 737 CL/NG skysurfer
August 27, 201213 yr While deeply saddened by the loss, I can not help but feel anger and dispair as well. Where once we dreamt of the stars, and took steps to make our dreams come true, now... old age has taken the man who took that first and biggest step. As a child watching his momentous adventures on television, I shared Neil's belief that this was only the first of many to come. I believed then that as I grew into a man, I would be able to follow in his footsteps, and my children would go beyond him. But now, as the last of our explorers leave us, where is the hope for the future to come from? Like Neil Armstrong, Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus are remembered for their voyages of discovery, but it was only when others followed the paths they had blazed, that their world was changed forever. Who now will follow in Neil's footsteps, and go on to change our world? Paul Smith.
August 27, 201213 yr R.I.P Neil. He was a pioneer for mankind. The first person to step on the moon, something that had been dreamed about just like flight. What an amazing accomplishment. Thanks, Kevin L
August 27, 201213 yr Thank you Neil; and if you do visit the moon again, start up one of the rovers up there and go for a ride. After the space shuttle those rovers have to be the coolest vehicles out there. Max PMDG 747X & 737NGX Pilot
August 27, 201213 yr In an era when 'celebrities' seem to have replaced heros and seem to come and go at the whim of the TV audience, here was a true hero for the world. Like many, I remember where I was when he spoke those fateful words and though I was young then, Neil inspired me to achieve my goals as I am sure he did many he world over. May he rest in peace.
