My Traffic 2013 Released!

Featured Replies

MTX's schedules are fictional so there is nothing current about them, so it shouldn't matter if they aren't updated! It is what it is. UT2 strength is that it uses real schedules, so currency of it is relevant. It is also one of it's pitfalls if you fly late at night, since there are relatively few active flights after say midnight, the airport gates could be vacant of aircraft. Where as realistically, the aircraft would be sitting at the gates ready for the morning flights.

Well some airport do have aircraft waiting for morning flight in UT2 . I have notice this because one time landed at Trinidad (TTPP) at 4:55Am an it had aircraft at the gate. When 6am hit i was preparing for my next flight an i saw the same aircraft taxing for takeoff at 7:05am first morning flight . An yes UT2 is a keeper i have few months using it actually this would be the second month an it is awesome!!!

I use MyTraffic Live , that means that for 20 euro per 6 months I have the real schedules from all major airliners across the word.

That database is updated everything hour.

More realistic than UT2

I love MyTraffic5.4, beacause you get traffic at nearly every airport/airfiel around the world, and you have many Soviet aircraft flying around in Eastern Europe and Asia, plus you have military AI and even choppers filling the skies (though they behave a bit strange at take-off and landing), so also military bases are filled with AI. I guess, that's similar with MT2013.

Yeah, where MyTraffic really does better than UT2 is amount and variety of traffic as UT2 misses many non scheduled and smaller airlines. I also use Military Traffic pack from Just Flight together with Mytraffic to get even more military traffic around.

Though sometimes I do miss the times when I used freeware traffic and added airlines that were not included in WOAI myself... It felt always great to spot all these rare airlines after adding them myself.

The database is actually more or less real-time its updated every couple of minutes.

MyTraffic 2013, is actually AFAIR a cut down version of MyTrafficX 5.4, so there is no advantage to buying this new version if you already have 5.4. Think of MyTraffic 2013 as a more user friendly version of 5.4 for the retail market i.e. a Dvd version for retail stores that just happens to be available as a download as well.

And the last words I would use to describe UT2 is FPS friendly, you can get approximately 3 to 6 times as much traffic for the same frame rate hit with MyTraffic.

Cheers, Andy.

Would be darn nice if they said that somewhere! Thanks for the info.

Why can't they make UT2 in such a way that planes hunkered down for the night stick around? If it's so much better on the fps I'd rather have it then MyTraffic. As I've said MyTraffic has a terrible interface and it also makes FSX initial loading time heaps longer. I'm not too bothered with GA when I'm doing VA flying so I can do without that.

99% of the time you do not need to ever look at the MyTraffic interface, so its look is of no importance to me, it works when needed and that's fine for me. You do realise MyTrafficX is a one man operation (with a little help from the community with paints), that's not the case with UT2, UT2 even has a large portion of content in it provided by Burkhard the developer of MyTrafficX.

If you have a read of the official MyTrafficX forum you will be able to see that MyTraffic 2010 and 2013 are actually cut down versions of MyTrafficX 5.x, those Aerosoft published products (MT2010, 2013) have always been the same, a spin off of a bigger product. Aerosoft are the ones who supply support for those 2010/2013 products, whereas MTX 5.x products sold through SimMarket are supported directly by the developer Burkhard Renk. On the Official MyTrafficX forum for the SimMarket products you will get a reply to any questions there usually within the same day (if not within hours), or the next day at the very latest. From what I have seen on the Aerosoft support forum you are lucky to get a reply in the same week, sometimes.

Cheers, Andy.

Oh, one other point I forgot about, MyTrafficX (not always 2010 or 2013) get two free updates per major release cycle too i.e. 5.4 is the new major release which you have to pay for. There are deep discounts for existing customers, there is fee of about 12Euros if you are upgrading from a previous version of MyTraffic 5.x., and they offer cross-grades from the Aerosoft products too.

Then there are the free updates for example 5.4a then 5.4b which both usually include new models never seen before and updates and improvements to existing models. They also update the included schedules and repaints to reflect any changes in the real world. Then the cycle starts again the following year with 5.5.

From memory I think on average the whole cycle between major versions i.e. 5.4 to 5.5 is around 18 months or thereabouts.

Cheers, Andy.

Andy is spot on. With MTX5.4 you get a huge bang for your buck, and I have not had any issues with frame rate.

UT2 Misses so many great Airline/Cargo companies, I was thinking of getting Traffic 2013 but I dont know

you can always add them into ut2 using power pack no problems.

im an ai fan and have used all the ai packages and found ut2 beats them all hands down.

UT2's have many of those generic blue paint aircrafts. I wish there was a way they would keep loading different paints for different airliners where I could simply click and get those updated. I haven't figured out how to use the freeware AI to UT2's database.

And also who says there is no performance hit with AI? There is performance hit for AI ,..no matter which traffic program you use. But not sure which has better performance among the two.

Manny

Its very simple to replace the blue dalheus repaints with some addon ai aircraft, its just very time consuming.

Ive spent hours and hours updating and adding new scheds/repaints using ut2 and now rarely see the blue dalhues.

Ive got 100 or so extra charter and cargo airlines they missed out. If anyone wants a copy of my updated databases let me know.

cheers

Perhaps because MTX has a bunch of random airlines... I wish I would have know they didn't have realistic schedules before I bought. In fact I'm probably going to be UT2 anyway....

The schedules are realistic depending on what level you set the traffic density slider too, the higher you set it the less realistic it becomes as in many cases the real airports don't have as much traffic as MTX is capable of inserting to the sim. The reason this was done was because some people were complaining that airports were not full enough, so Burkhard added some random traffic (at high slider settings) to fill up the airports that had free spaces. Have a read of the official MTX forum or ask the question and Burkhard will confirm this for you again.

Cheers, Andy.

Hello

MyTrafficX especially if you fly in Europe and wish to see the charter airlines that are common sight over here.

With MyTraffic live, schedules do not get more up to date than that, even cancellations and delays are correctly depicted in the sim.

Ive got 100 or so extra charter and cargo airlines they missed out. If anyone wants a copy of my updated databases let me know.

Would you please send them to me?

Let me PM you my e-mail id.

BTW.. Wouldn't adding add on aircrafts to UT hit performance serverely? I did this in FS9 long time ago and I had to back them out.

And what are "power packs"? where do I get them and what are the steps to update them in UT2?

For UT2? I'd love that if you could email them to me!
