September 2, 201213 yr I'd appreciate seeing your results, do_denver2. I've been using UT2 for a long time, but pull of getting cargo planes, military traffic, etc. is strong. :-) Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)
September 3, 201213 yr Hey JR.... Well I have to apologize and completely amend my earlier comments which were not accurate nor fair to UT2. At the end of the day UT2 will stay on my system, at least for the time being, as it's hit to FPS was not as terrible as I had originally though. After getting sick of doing endless loops around Dallas, I went up to Seattle in the heavy hitting ORBX PNW area. What I discovered is that if FPS are already fairly low, say 15-20, UT2 doesn't drop that another 8-10. The hit was onlyabout 2 FPS, making an unfavorable scenario only slightly worse. On the positive side, though, I did have some success making the sim run smoother and better in FPS crushing areas like Dallas and Orbx Seattle by reducing the frame rate limiter to 20. Usually I had always left it at 30, but decided to experiment. Since I have no hope at all of every hitting 30 or even 25 in those areas I figured I'd see what would happen by lowering the limiter to 20, a much more realistic goal. It actually helped alot by reducing blurries significantly, keeping the FPS pretty close to 20 most of the time, which is acceptable to me, and when dipping down to the 14-16 range was still quite smooth and enjoyable.
September 3, 201213 yr 5 minutes times the few hundred more models and repaints that MTX has and you get....... your life back with MTX. You pointed out a specific area of the world, and there aren't hundreds of missing repaints for the Caribbean And like I said, the positives of UT like airplanes flying real routes, better quality repaints and more fps friendly models and there is no real comparison. I said it does take more work, but if you add the missing cargo to UT it is superior.
September 3, 201213 yr Ok, the proof is in the pudding, so to speak...so here is a link to a file that comes directly from the MTX5.4a install on my fsx...this lists every airline and every aircraft that comes with this wonderful addon. This is why i dont need to be hassled with adding paints to UT2... My Traffic 5.4 airline/aircraft list this includes the military planes also....
September 3, 201213 yr And like I said, the positives of UT like airplanes flying real routes, better quality repaints and more fps friendly models and there is no real comparison. I said it does take more work, but if you add the missing cargo to UT it is superior. I agree with you the AI following flight plans is great but is a very low priority feature to me, and some of the UT2 models and paints look fabulous, but that comes at a cost I will not live with, read on... UT2 does not have more frame rate friendly models, they perform far far worse than MTX because their poly count is up to 6 times as high in some models compared to the equivalent MTX model, which is a complete waste for anything that is parked further away from the user than the next stand at an airport. You just won't be able to see the extra detail any farther away than that. That means FPS for FPS you can get up to 6 MTX aircraft for 1 UT2 aircraft depending on some of the models UT2 include. On average across the whole range of aircraft the worst performance difference you will see from MTX to UT2 is 50% less polys in MTX's aircraft, less ploys used in the models means more frames per second in the sim, or more models/aircraft for the same FPS hit. Not only that, Burkhard spent a huge amount of time optimising the number of draw calls and materials used by his models to improve the frame rates even further. Cheers, Andy.
September 3, 201213 yr I'm in need of upgrading my AI aircraft and have a few questions regarding MTX 5.4 for those of you that use it or have used it: 1. How are the MTX repaints compared to WOAI? (which I'm currently using.) WOAI's aircraft look very nice. But the pics that I've seen of the MTX aircraft appear to be less detailed than WOAI's. 2. Do they show any effects such as dropped flaps when landing, gear going up and/or down, etc.? 3. Is there a way of editing the flight plans? 4. Can it work in conjunction with WOAI? Thanks for your help! Alexander Alonso
September 3, 201213 yr 1. Can't comment on that, it's too long that I've switched to MTX 2. Gear's going up and down(sure about that), flaps are dropped (I believe, never paid much attention to that). 3. MTX uses FSX format flight plans, so should be possible 4. I guess, but you should convert them from FS9 to FSX before installing them (otherwise MTX traffic won't show) Florian
September 3, 201213 yr MyTraffic doesn't use flight plans like UT2 does, they are direct flights with ATC vectoring them at either end of the journey. If you use MyTraffic interactive then you can also inject some extra flights via sim connect like UT2 does and you can assign those flights proper flight plans if you want to. Cheers, Andy.
September 3, 201213 yr Would somebody be able to post some screenshot examples of the MTX models ? I am on the hunt for a 3P AI program other than WOAI. Cheers
September 3, 201213 yr On the airline list that was posted in another thread, I removed military, GA and non-current aircraft, I counted about 1200 airlines. With UT2, I have 950 with the schedules and about 1500 with freeware add ons (WofAI, IAG...). I'm still missing about 150 paints from UT2 but I have not done an update in over a year. I bet some are available right now but many of them are due to errors in code shares or for models that don't exist. Still, seeing Daedalus paint is extremely rare in my sim. MTX seems to have a large following here. I get that the models are lower poly - got it. I'm still wondering what the process is for switching out the paints. Is it no different than decompiling the .bgl's and changing aircraft titles? That can get really tiresome when you have several paints for one type. Does MTX include all of the current liveries for each model/airline? For example, do you get all of the special paints for SWA and the Star Alliance/OneWorld, OC/NC, merger paints...? It seems like MTX would be a good choice for people that just want some AI everywhere. For me, even if I bought MTX, I would end up switching out a lot of the aircraft because there are simply too many wonderful AI models/paints out there to not have them in my sim. MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad
September 3, 201213 yr Have they improved the interface at all in My Traffic 2013? I've got My Traffic X 5.4 and the interface is terrible. I also purchased my copy through Sim Market so not sure if I can get a cheaper upgrade through there yet. If not I probably won't bother as it seems so far like this update just adds more airlines/planes and some more charter traffic etc which I'm unlikely to notice anyhow. I will agree with this, UT2 interface is much nicer and more user friendly. I tried MTX Pro 5.4, and just uninstalled it recently. I am back to using UT2 only.
September 3, 201213 yr again here is the list of plane and aircraft that come with My Traffic X 5.4a just about every airline in the world is included, even ones that dont exist anymore, such as TWA and Braniff and PanAM. My Traffic X lets you go back in time and use only airlines that existed in 1980 for example. MTX 5.4a airlines/aircraft list The above link works if you have google chrome. I am unable to get it to save in any other format.
September 3, 201213 yr Hello. a few people have asked me for a updated ai and databases. Im in the process of uploading them to http://www.4shared.com/ Will update when finished. many thanks Did you upload those databases yet? It's been a couple days now.
September 11, 201213 yr Hello. a few people have asked me for a updated ai and databases. Im in the process of uploading them to http://www.4shared.com/ Will update when finished. many thanks Hello chaps finally its done and ive uploaded the scheds and updates to rapidshare. be warned though its a 4 gig download. Anyone who wants up update pack you can pm me. cheers
September 11, 201213 yr I bought My Traffic 2013 when It came out. Had TrafficX from Just Flight before, and I must say that now I'm really happy. My FSX performence went from being really bad at big airports like KSEA to very smooth. With sliders around 45% I get real good performance, previously with Traffic X I had to tune them down to 20%. Also noticed that I have traffic at airports that I didn't have before and also that My Traffic 2013 produces more traffic with the same slider settings. Some of the GA planes looks very ugly, but all around I'm very happy and they didn't look any better with TrafficX. Haven't tried UT2 or earlier releases of My Traffic so I can't compare with them.
