September 13, 201213 yr I've gotten back into FS9/IFR again, and the only decent payware airliner I have for FS9 is the Captain Sim 757, and I'm sorta looking for something else. On one hand, I feel like I could do a more diverse array of flights with the 737 in terms of route lengths, but I've also heard nothing but great things about Quality Wings' latest offering, and the VC looks spectacular. Right now I'm leaning toward the iFly especially because FSBuild can export plans compatible with its FMC, and it appears to have more ease with Navigraph data. For those that own these products, what are your thoughts on them?
September 13, 201213 yr I don't have any of the products you mention... because I'm in the same dilemma as you. If money is not object, purchasing both could be a good option. The problem is... currently I can't afford both of them :( Best regards,Luis Hernández Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9! Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.
September 13, 201213 yr If you're looking for B737...there is only ONE choice - PMDG NGX!!!! IMO anyway. FSBuild can export plans to it too. That's exactly what I use. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
September 13, 201213 yr Ooops...guess I should pay more attention next time, huh? Sorry. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
September 13, 201213 yr Actually I do have both and they are equally good in their different aspects. The Avro uses the same Navigraph database as their 757 and is very easy to install as are all Navigraph offerings. It comes down to what you want to fly routewise. The Ifly 737 comes with the -600, -700,-800 and -900 and the Flight1 download library provides us with amazing choice of add on liveries and is still very much a current aeroplane operating routes worldwide whereas the Avro is more restricted in livery and route choice and beginning to be phased out by the major airlines like Swiss and Brussels Airlines which are the main Avro operators these days. If you can afford both go for it. John John Hewson
September 14, 201213 yr Another thing to consider is that FS2Crew is available for the Ifly but probably won't be for the QW. FS2Crew in my opinion adds another layer of realism to my flights with the ifly which I love
September 14, 201213 yr In my opinion iFly 737NG is the overall best addon aircraft ever made for FS9, when you take everything into consideration. AS A320 is my favourite, LH Maddog is the most complex, but it is iFly which cumulates so many advantages including unprecedented support and continuous development. And I am saying it from the perspective of a simmer who has almost all high quality FS9 aircraft (plus some hangared for FSX). I am not understating the quality of QW Avro - it surely is a good and enjoyable product. But the above is what I think of iFly's bird. If however you are a real aircraft geek like most of us here, do what Louis says and get yourself both. You will be doubly happy.
September 14, 201213 yr Fsbuild exports to the QW Avro's FMC as well (it shares the same folders with the QW757). Regards. Ernie.
September 14, 201213 yr In a way, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Both are very different products - both in the sim and in real life. You will have no regrets whichever you buy - they are both excellent. The Avro simulates an earlier generation of aircraft that was designed for a totally different market to the 737. The iFly 737 represents current technology and a very different design philosophy. Both are superbly modelled - both are enormous fun while retaining plenty of challenges to learn to fly them properly. Buy one now and then in a few months when you can afford it, buy the other. You will enjoy both and will experience a very different cockpit environment. You may find a slightly greater FPS hit with the AVRO if that is an issue for you and the 737 is probablya more complex aircraft in terms of systems - again, as in the real world. Flip a coin - you can't go wrong with either of them. They are both top notch Ian
September 14, 201213 yr Or you could look at it this way ... 4 engines vs 2 engines. Double the pleasure?
September 15, 201213 yr In my opinion iFly 737NG is the overall best addon aircraft ever made for FS9, when you take everything into consideration. AS A320 is my favourite, LH Maddog is the most complex, but it is iFly which cumulates so many advantages including unprecedented support and continuous development. Ifly Maddog and Airsimmer. My big three
