October 13, 201213 yr For those who haven't/can't see the official forum Well to be precise a reproduction of a full page ad which will appear in PC-Pilot. But there is a promise of more screengrabs and some videos and a projected release in six weeks. The shot looks convincing but is so "generic" that it doesn't show us Brit's anything. Hopefully they'll feature some of the more challenging areas like the metropolitan areas with their suburbs and dense urbanisation soon. It will also be interesting to see some airfields and airports as they'll come with the landcover? For those who can sign in here's thed link http://www.orbxsyste...and-screenshot/ BTW a new airfield for NZ (NZQN) and an excellent animation of baggage handlers too for people flow. October 13, 201213 yr Mmm, lots of 'jeans creaming' going on. It does show promise though. The acid test will be when a town hoves into view! The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
October 13, 201213 yr Doesnt look any different to the AU sceneries though looking at the forums at Orbx are the usual comments. They could release textures based on a pile of dog poo and still the usual crowd will get out their tongues.
October 13, 201213 yr Maybe it's my screen but it looks VERY green. Gen-X Ireland 9 and 10 also look VERY green and it's a bit unrealistic looking, even for rain soaked Ireland. Having said that Gen-X U.K series 1 with Treescapes 1 looks very, very good indeed. I'm currently holding off on buying any more Horizons UK scenery to give OrbX a go when it's released. October 13, 201213 yr Will look forward to more future shots and the real thing. Hope they can concentrate more on the "big picture" sceneries and less on individual airports. I think we get a lot more bang for our flight sim bucks with the larger scenery areas. Go Orbx!
October 13, 201213 yr In the spring/summer England does look very green and Orbx' green isn't far out. VFR green was/is so wrong. I look forward to autumn/winter textures, then we'll see what's what. Let's not get the hammers out just yet, eh? The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
October 13, 201213 yr It looks like featureless New Zealand, but that is what England is....Featureless New Zealand but with a few castles. :LMAO: Just joking guys. I am looking forward to this region very much Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
October 13, 201213 yr Man these guys are on a crusade! Seems like NZNI came out only yesterday and here we have a whole new region. Well since my VA flies in this part of the world I'm very much looking forward to it. Should be far more interesting than the GEX/UTX combo I have right now.
October 13, 201213 yr Looks great, and my home country. ... I am sure there is a lot more detail and features to see yet... The main pic isn't showing a lot of detail but the 3 smaller pics at the top of the ad look fantastic. October 13, 201213 yr I wasn't concerned about Orbx's ability to nail the rolling countryside. Its the built up areas (and there are a lot of them in the UK) that concern me. Hopefully the lake district will be one of the 'photo real' areas. October 13, 201213 yr The SS of the field looks perfect to me, but need to see mustard fields, towns and a big city to see if they have cracked it. The field SS was a given for me they would get right and am sure there seasons will be done right as its being done in the UK not half way round the world. If it all looks as good as that one SS, then happy days David Murden. October 14, 201213 yr Author I think Ron and Glenn make good points here. I think they've got the palette just right but to me it's too dark and lacking in contrast for such a rare blue skied day? JV states its an actual screengrab too. On a duller day it would be spot on. The suburbs and urban sprawl is what concerns me. If the landclass is too broadly "generic" it won't look very recognisable. I also hope they've got the railways and motorways detailed too. Essential for IFR flights.... (I Follow Railways ^_^ ) Hope there's plenty of rail traffic too and at realistic speeds. BTW I had to chuckle at the post on the official forum that quotes VATSIM as a sourve of the information that JV posted in the first post  . From JV's post We will begin a series of screenshot previews and also some videos and you will see some excellent interpretations of the product from our resident screenshot artists Ian Emms and Mark Adbey over the next few weeks. Obviously we'll only get screenshots of the bits their nominated previewers choose or are prompted to highlight? but maybe a PM of areas you'd like to see might pay off? I'm sure those of us who will buy it anyway can get some shots up here pretty quickly after release anyway? Geoff PS I suspect what many of you think are mustard fields are actually these? Rapeseed in bloom is brilliant yellow but once the flowers are gone it's just another shade of green. http://www.dailymail...-oil-soars.html Geoff Brown
October 14, 201213 yr Hi Geoff, I believe this one will be an amazing job of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, as they do all these regions individually, I am certainly looking forward to this project as the ORBX technology keeps on improving with each region. I think with the UK and Ireland this will be the best stuff they produce as they move forward.... Cheers Matthew PS I suspect what many of you think are mustard fields are actually these? Rapeseed in bloom is brilliant yellow but once the flowers are gone it's just another shade of green. You can see that all over southern Canada as well so that is nothing new. Hopefully their is some of that too when in season. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
October 14, 201213 yr This is an interesting post by JV. We will certainly be doing NGX compatible airports in the UK, beginning with Southampton International, the hub for FlyBe's 737 fleet. Russ White is working on that project. I would wait until FTX England is released before investing in 3rd party airports - all the UK airports will have been given the Orbx makeover anyway so get the region first and then wait for reports from customers who are using 3rd party non-Orbx airports with it. Remember, it's not our role to make our FTX England terrain region compatible with anyone's airports. Yes, we are matching the mesh and elevations as best we can but beyond that we won't be doing any colour matching or other mods to the terrain textures. We make the sandpit, and our airports sit on top of it. If other airport developers want to leverage the Orbx customer base then they should release patches for their airports to blend them into FTX, not the other way round  Make perfect sense to me. October 14, 201213 yr Hello Looking at that screenshot I still prefer GenX + Treescapes, plus of course the UK2000 sceneries.
