October 20, 201213 yr Author That's what people keep saying for years, and they remain in business nonetheless. I will buy their new KATL at some point even if I won't get a discount. They are a small development group and I'd rather see them stay alive then die out. They are seriously one of thew developers out there doing American hubs and we can sure use more of those! Very good point. This is why I am usually willing to pay unless the price is just blatantly outrageous lol
October 20, 201213 yr Their scenery still has performance issues, especially the night textures which drop frames into the single digits on my system. Tested with QW Bae 146 with the FSX demo. Scenery complexity maxed, auto gen very dense. No AI present Fps during the day: avg of 18 Fps during night: avg of 8-9 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Blake
October 20, 201213 yr Author Fps during the day: avg of 18 Fps during night: avg of 8-9 Strange... On my system, FPS drop into mid 20s at night and in the day, I am at 27-30.
October 20, 201213 yr Tihs actually suprises me that people get "mad" when a small developer team asks for a bit more money. How do you not know that the owner of Imaginesim is on the verge of a financial meltdown...? Also, as small of a market we have, we should be thankful that we even HAVE developers! I am more than happy to pay max price for stuff.... Why does the announcement make this sound like a new, never existing before package? I just purchased a version of this on May 12, 2012 through Flight 1. Now less than six months later there is no upgrade path? I find that unconscionable, and that will certainly affect my patronage decisions. So what that it cost you less than a tank a gas? It's the feeling of getting ripped off that's the problem. Boy now that is hitting the nail on the head. The price of gas is the sheer definition of the term "ripoff". That's the point I was trying to make with the old gas tank analogy. If I have to pay a little 'extra' (from the Latin meaning getting ripped off as some people interpret it) I'm OK with that. It won't bankrupt me and it keeps them in business. I also 'donate' 5 bucks a tile for BlueSky photoscenery hoping it will keep them in business as well. $5 to BlueSky. I hope you did not stop that low for their Philadelphia scenery, which extends in some directions as much as 7 miles from the tdz's. I donated ten times that for KPHL. BlueSky certainly sets a great example for other small developers in regard to attracting and keeping customers. This thread should be considered an opposite example. October 20, 201213 yr Hi, No Upgrade Option = No Sale, the new KATL is not that good!. There is an age-old concept in marketing referred to most commonly as "the increment of difference". When I was in business school the examples illustrated were either a price increase on a candy bar, or the reduction of it's size, which is in effect another form of price increase. The lesson is that consumers perceive the difference and if the increment of change is too high, especially in regard to competition, then despite brand or product loyalty, consumers will choose an alternative. Current case in point, the 20 lb bags of Purina One dog food that up until recently were $19.99 in big box retailers, have mysteriously changed recently to 16.5 lb bags for the same price. That's an effective 17.5% price increase (3.5 lbs divided by 20 lbs). That was way too much for us in this day of two to three percent inflation. We switched brands. Another dimension of the marketing concept of increment of difference is the perception of a product's claim of "new and improved". Especially if it is an item of use, such as an appliance or automobile, vs a box of new and improved cereal. If an item of use claims new and improved, the call to action for consumers only occurs if the increment of difference from the changes add enough value to justify the economy or price of replacing the old with the new. In the powersports industry there is an inside joke on new model claims referred to quietly as BNG. It stands for bold new graphics. This may be a good $29.99 product for those who have not bought it previously. In this case, for me, an owner of scant 6 months, the BNG is way too deficient to call me to action. The increment in the example of KATL is not that of the full price of a new product (for a previous owner). Would you ever trade your current model of car for the new model year version by paying full price and getting zero for your trade-in. I think not! I'll drive the old one until it dies, or until a more acceptable alternative is offered (by a competitor). October 21, 201213 yr I own the previous versions, live in the Atlanta area, and will be buying it in the morning. $30 is roughly 15 min of actual flight time, so I'm not concerned about the money.
October 21, 201213 yr Ok, deal or no deal aside....is the scenery good or what? I want it because it's a massive Delta hub. Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
October 21, 201213 yr Ron, I took the leap of faith. It's ok so far. I get a big frame rate hit compared to others developers large airports. Have not been able to play with it to much just yet... I also agree with the folks that have purchased earlier version should get a discount. 5Take Care, Will Clark My computer: Intel 14900K, Motherboard ROR Maximus Z790 Formula, PSU Dark Power 1600, Ram DDR5 (7200) Vengeance 32GB CL38, ASUS 4090, Keyboard Logitech ASUS, Mouse ROCCAT LEADR Wireless, Corsair M.2 SSD 4TB x2, Headset Astro A50 Wireless, Microphone Elgato Wave 3, Stream Deck Elgato XL, GoXLR, Loopdeck Live, Chair Steelcase Gesture with Headrest, Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL ROG White, Custom Built water cooling, Ek Lian li xl distro plate, Fittings EK & Bitspower, Monitor LG C1 48 OLED, Desk Speakers Audio Engine A5+ White.
October 21, 201213 yr I am on board with those that are unhappy about no upgrade price option. IMO they owe us a patch for ATL. Buyer beware that ImaginSim does no support at all and you will be lucky to get a response from them that has any substance pertaining to any issues you may be having with their product(s) not to mention that they have a history of putting bad AFCAD into their scenery. Ive said it before and I am sticking to it... no more money from me to them unless I see something that I just cant live without and this being said from someone who lives in Atlanta and would LOVE to have a great representation of my hometown airport. Someone said that they want to support new developers and Im cool with that but they have been around for a long time and with the product FSDT and FLyTampa puts out I am even more critical of scenery these days. Bottom line... ImagineSim sceneries are WYSIWYG with no support. I will stick with my old version. Jim Wenham

This thread should be considered an opposite example. My bad. My references in the above in an earlier message in this topic should have been in regard to SunSkyJet, and the SunSkyJet scenery for Philadelphia Int'l, KPHL and surrounding scenery, which includes key visual cues (bridges, stadiums, factories, etc.) up to seven miles out on the approaches to eastbound and westbound runways. All on a donate if you like it basis. October 21, 201213 yr Author Ok, deal or no deal aside....is the scenery good or what? I want it because it's a massive Delta hub. Yes the scenery is very nice. I personally think it is rivaling FSDT quality... Similar to that of Las Vegas.
October 21, 201213 yr Yeah, FSDT's KLAS is at least 3 years old now... FSDT is at another today with their latest products. I personally think it is rivaling FSDT quality... Come on. Seriously? Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
