October 16, 201213 yr Hi everyone, Great news from ImagineSim on their website: "16 October 12 KATL for FSX The FSX version of KATL is just about set for release. We're hoping to get it ready for this coming weekend. We will also be releasing an update for the FS2004 version that fixes a few errors and includes some recompiled files for improved performance." I've waited all summer for this one!! Can't wait! :Big Grin:
October 16, 201213 yr Thanks for sharing Ben, this is good news. I was skeptical of the new version of KATL initially, I felt as I am sure many others did that it looked like more of an update than a new version, and so charging existing customers was a shame, but having seen the hype of the FS2004 version it seems that it is more than an update and worth its new price. October 16, 201213 yr This airport should be handled by FSDT, FlightBeam or FlyTampa, but I still plan to buy it. ImagineSim has slowly but surely improved their quality. I just wish they had an upgrade price. October 16, 201213 yr Moderator I'm interested to see what type of runway lighting they use. On their first FSX version they offered an upgrade that added the overly bright and big runway and approach lighting and I didnt like the look and reverted back to the prior version. I might be interested after viewing some night shots of the new product if the lights are more the style FSDT uses. @Luis - I ageee, this would be a great airport for FSDT to do. In fact Umberto has mentioned a few times that they are kicking around the idea of doing it, even with the Imaginsim version on the market. Although that was before IS announced V2. If V2 is a major improvement maybe FSDT will decide against it. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
October 17, 201213 yr Author No discount for previous buyers? Tihs actually suprises me that people get "mad" when a small developer team asks for a bit more money. How do you not know that the owner of Imaginesim is on the verge of a financial meltdown...? Also, as small of a market we have, we should be thankful that we even HAVE developers! I am more than happy to pay max price for stuff....

October 19, 201213 yr Hard to believe there's no discount for previous users... Really. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
October 19, 201213 yr I downloaded the demo, looks pretty good, going to buy it I think. Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom

I am more than happy to pay max price for stuff.... Imaginesim's financial health has no bearing on whether they should give discounts to previous purchasers. I doubt they started from scratch and re-did all their assets to come up with v2. I find this almost as bad as those developers that charge full price for the P3D version when a FSX version exists. So the installer installs the same files in a different location.....that's worth paying double??? I think not. Imaginesim also charges separately for the FS9 version. This too leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Returning customers are businesses' bread and butter. Some companies just don't get that. This has got to be some MASSIVE improvement and it better be at FSDT quality for me to even remotely consider it. I was underwhelmed with the first version. Imaginesim surely doesn't have my "must buy everything they come out with" list. ANywho.....is the new version a massive improvement?
October 19, 201213 yr Imaginesim also charges separately for the FS9 version. This too leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They are two different games....I don't see how that is something that should even be questioned. Now, if they had like a FSX base version, and then charged for the FSX SP2 version, I would have to agree....but that is two separate games, with two separate needs to run smooth. William Sequeira
October 19, 201213 yr Hard to believe there's no discount for previous users... Really. I was just about to ask about it too, really? No discount? Also, I'd rather have FSDT or FlyTampa put their hands on Tokyo Narita. Jacek G. A lot of the assets are reused. Why doesn't Aerosoft or FSDT charge for FSX and FS9 versions separately? I agree with you when it comes to aircraft, but not on scenery. Even with the extra effort to build the two versions, it should be discounted if you have the other. Not doing so seems like a money grab to me.
