Can't make a decision!

Featured Replies

I'm looking to purchase either Radar Contact or FS2Crew for the PMDG 737. I can't decide which one I will enjoy more...From what I understand both are incredible add-ons and definitely will have a learning curve. But just how good is RC?? From my research I've noticed it has a few bugs and I'm kind of familiar with its setup (loading SID/STAR into FSX format etc..). So, if you had to purchase one, what would it be?

FS2Crew. For ATC either I use myself (put myself in.. "interesting" situations), or VATSIM.

FS2Crew

I think so too

I can't seem to get RC 4 to work half the time so I don't even bother with it usually. When it works it's great!!! It always forgets about me when I get near the airport.

I don't know if you have any of Bryan's products, but I love them. Incredible immersion, and fun. Although, you have to get used to spouse/significant other making fun of you ordering coffee from the stewardess.

VATSIM is the best ATC out there, and it is free :)

Ships are cooler that you think.

That's been the gist of what I've read! It's also a little more expensive

LOL! That is so true

I feel like I'd have no idea what to do and/or communicate, but that's just ignorance. I'd need to learn the ropes etc. You can only fly in certain regions correct?

No on Vatsim you can fly anywhere you want.

Cheers

Although I don't have either of those, I would get FS2Crew. If you want ATC, fly online on VATSIM. It's free, and there are other real people.

You might want to check out ProATC/X. It's new and although presently going through growing pains, it has a lot of potential I think. And its author is very dedicated to correcting bugs by issuing frequent updates and adding many 'user demands' in the near future. You can visit the web site to read about the utility's existing features and check out the forum to get a taste of what users are saying.

I have both and use both. Radar Contact is pretty good for when you want complete route ATC coverage and is a good step up from the default ATC. However I don't think you could compare them together as they're two separate products.

FS2crew is a whole load of fun and adds a lot to the NGX. If you like to simulate real world NG procedures then get FS2Crew. I use it every time I fly.

if you cant get both than go for the fscrew2 you cant go wrong as the previous posters have suggested, and you got a choice between voice and button for the ngx as well

I've been using RC for 6 years now and that has definitely not been my experience. I think it's a great add-on and I wouldn't be without it. You are clearly doing something wrong or have not done something you should have. Why not visit the Radar Contact forum here on Avsim and post your problem? Support is brilliant and developer Jon Dekker is always very keen to solve problems.

I've also got FS2Crew which I enjoy using. I think they're both needed for the best simming experience.

Go with FS2Crew. ATC as a real world job is still performed by humans for a reason: computers suck at it. While the various ATC programs do a lot better than the default FSX ATC, they're not as good as they should be if you're looking for a realistic experience.
