October 26, 201213 yr Since couple of days i observe a really strange behavior in my simulator. After a departure from an airport, where all the surroundings look as they should, no matter the course things change. After passing the initially loaded area i'm now flying above a non-loaded-look-alike area. Overflying it i see autogen slowly loads here and there but the ground textures are simply unrecognizable. I'm not speaking about any add-on sceneries here. It happens with the default ground and autogen. I tried settings FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION, but the result with 0.11, 0.15, 0.33 or even 0.50 looks the same. The DisablePreload=1 didn't help either. Here's my fsx.cfg: [quote] [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0] Mode=1920x1200x32 Anisotropic=1 [VirtualCopilot] VirtualCopilotActive=0 [bufferPools] RejectThreshold=0 UsePools=1 [sOUND] October 27, 201213 yr Leghorn, Hi, I see some issues with bufferpools and fiber frame time fraction. Have you checked out Kostas guide her on the avsim forums? If not perform a search and this guide should get you squared away. Hope this helps. Jamie Jamie Moses
October 27, 201213 yr Author Yes, thank you. I'm familiar with his guide and i built my fsx.cfg thanks to him. Actually i just deleted the file to let fsx generate a new one and there is no difference.. :( I will try defragmenting now.. Any other suggestions?
October 27, 201213 yr Something must have changed - question is: What? Think back on what is different now.... Bert
October 27, 201213 yr UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0 Have you this locked by external fps limiter, to around 30. If not just use the FSX internal limiter( i personaly think the internal one is fine ) TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=80TextureMaxLoad=30 Might be worth trying lower options like TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=30 TextureMaxLoad=9. Just as a test if nothing else WATER_EFFECTS=5 This high setting might hinder rendering power, try lowering it too Hope you get it sorted. October 27, 201213 yr Usepools=0 is the first thing to try. You can remove the reject threshold line. Do you have Nvidia inspector with vsync set to 1/2 refresh rate? As stated above, you should then lock internally in FSX to 30. The fiber_frame_time_fraction tweak won't work optimally if you have usepools=1. You do have hyperthreading turned off in BIOS? Not sure that you need the autogen tweak for trees and buildings. I believe that tweak was from back when CPU's and video cards were slower. TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT should be 40 if TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096. I suggest you go back and read through all of Word Not Allowed's guide. --Don Don Polidori
October 27, 201213 yr As Don stated above UsePools=0. remove reject threshold. change fiber frame time fraction to 0.1 to start. Make sure to put bufferpools under graphics section. Hope this helps. I recently changed over to DX-10 and this changed my config file to a more simple setup. Jamie Leghorn,1 other thing. Are you using nvidia inspaector? If so could you post a screen shot. Thanks Jamie Jamie Moses
October 27, 201213 yr Author Guys, thanks a lot!!! It tried everyone's advice. UsePools=0 and Reject threshold=0 makes no difference here. I use external limiter (30fps) through the inspector. I have set vsync to 1/2 refresh rate. It's a single display setting.. Lowering the water detail didn't help so the only thing left now is to see is the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT at 40.. Unfortunately I must try to have some sleep now. I will post here later if there is an improvement... Pretty exhausted after a night of proving 500 ways that don't resolve the issue  Thank you, guys a lot for trying to help! Very kind of you!
October 27, 201213 yr I always had a problem with textures going blurry with the external limiters. I limit frames within FSX to 20 and enjoy smooth and blurry free flights for the most part. Turning V-Sync off also seemed to reduce blurries and improve smoothness. An this is with a very dated PC so you should be able to capture a few more FPS than I am. October 27, 201213 yr When I got my i7 computer I was also struggling with blurries. I tried every possible tweak, followed Word Not Allowed's guide and all, and the problem persisted. I ended up solving it by putting FSX in an SSD. Everyone always talks about how an SSD makes no difference in FSX except for loading times... but since then my blurries are gone!
October 27, 201213 yr You have two DISPLAY entries with conflicting resolutions - (these are probably gone if you rebuilt your FSX.cfg) [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0] Mode=1920x1200x32 Anisotropic=1 [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0.0] Mode=1280x800x32 If you have two monitors this might be okay but one of them would have a 1 at the end, not a 0. Under the display entry you should also have AntiAlias=1 (unless you didn't turn it on in your FSX settings, which is wrong. It should be turned on). TextureMaxLoad=30 is extremely high. Remove the entry or use the default of 6. This entry takes a lot of technical expertise to set to another setting other than 6. It involves other FSX settings and whether you have FPS set at unlimited or limited. If you have your FPS set to unlimited, I would go no higher than 12. Even ******* Bojote had issues trying to figure this setting out and only stated it should be set at levels of 3 (6, 9, 12). The more resources you place on your CPU/GPU the more likely you will have blurries. In your Traffic Manager settings you have cars set at 22 (should be no higher than 10) and Ships and Ferries set to 42 (should be 0). October 27, 201213 yr i would also suggest limiting fps in FSX itself if you have blurries issues. Just try 30 as a test. Bert
October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Have you this locked by external fps limiter, to around 30. If not just use the FSX internal limiter( i personaly think the internal one is fine ) Weirdly to me setting FPS inside FSX unlimited and then using external frame limiter removed most of the blurries I was experiencing before (when using FSX internal limiter) instead of increasing them.
October 27, 201213 yr Those two display entries don't affect negatively. FSX creates 0.0 entry for DX10, so you can have different AA and aniso settings for DX9 and DX10. They do not cause blurries in any way. I'd suggest OP to delete CFG and let the FSX create a clean one and then apply tweaks along Word Not Allowed's guide, which mainly is BP=0 and perhaps AM used with internal limiter. Every other "tweak" just causes trouble.
