Yea, but FXAA is not compatible with DX10 preview...

My SweetFX settings.   You can preview and download my setting from here.

  • Had a quick look at it and it sure is impressive. Just download SweetFX 1.3.7z, unzip it, move the files and directory inside to your main FSX folder and there you go. The scroll lock key switches it

if you have a very bright white maybe need to change this.

#define Bleach -0.08

Try now thank you.

That's it very nice appreciate it - take care.

Changed this

Great info but need to have it less dark not the sharpening, thanks a lot.

Hey Rich,

Wanna try my settings?  Kinda subtle, much less darkening/contrast.  See what you think, lemme know, OK?

Cheers,

Jay

Game: Any
SweetFX version: 1.4
Author: CeeJay.dk
Description:

These are the default settings for SweetFX 1.4
They smoothen jagged edges with SMAA anti-aliasing, sharpen the image with LumaSharpen and make the colors slightly more vibrant with Vibrance.

Please note when tweaking settings that higher numbers does not always equal better (nor does lower).
Finding the best settings for your game and your taste is about finding just the right amount to apply.

If you made a good setttings preset please share it with your friends, on forums and websites,
and/or submit it to the SweetFX Settings Database : http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/

#define USE_CARTOON       0 //[0 or 1] Cartoon : "Toon"s the image. (Interferes with SMAA, CRT, Bloom, HDR and Lumasharpen)
#define USE_ADVANCED_CRT  0 //[0 or 1] Advanced CRT : Simulates an old CRT TV display. (Interferes with SMAA, Cartoon, Bloom, HDR and Lumasharpen, and it has a very high performance cost)
#define USE_BLOOM         0 //[0 or 1] Bloom : Makes bright lights bleed their light into their surroundings (relatively high performance cost)
#define USE_HDR           0 //[0 or 1] HDR : Not actual HDR - It just tries to mimic an HDR look (relatively high performance cost)

#define USE_TONEMAP       0 //[0 or 1] Tonemap : Adjust gamma, exposure, saturation, bleach and defog. (may cause clipping)

#define USE_DITHER        0 //[0 or 1] Dither : Applies dithering to simulate more colors than your monitor can display. This lessens banding artifacts (mostly caused by Vignette)
#define USE_BORDER        0 //[0 or 1] Border : Makes the screenedge black as a workaround for the bright edge that forcing some AA modes sometimes causes.
#define USE_SPLITSCREEN   0 //[0 or 1] Splitscreen : Enables the before-and-after splitscreen comparison mode.

Grrrr, well SweetFX has been working great for me, but now I may have to dump it. Starting Sunday it's been crashing FSX a lot more........the CTD where FSX just flat out disappears with no error or anything, it's just gone. I was trying to do a flight from KPDX to KSEA with ORBX PNW and REX running, lots of clouds (real weather), and any time I'd go into a menu like the map to look at ILS info when I exited the sim would crash. Same with saving a flight. (it would actually get the flight saved though) I wrote it off to the extra load of the PNW scenery.

Now last night I took off from Cairo in Egypt back on my world tour and headed north. Clouds over the water (so maybe it's a REX related problem?) and I've never had any real issues with SweetFX in this area before but again after saving my flight FSX did the disappearing act. The only thing I can think of is the load of all the clouds is causing the lumasharpen effect to get overloaded or something. Thing is, at least in the PNW area it did it even after hitting scroll lock to turn the effect off.

I really don't want to have to go back to fuzzy gray washed default FSX look but I may have to. I can fix the fuzzy by getting rid of or changing my antialiasing type in Inspector probably but hopefully I won't have to do that.  Anyone have an idea what might be going on?

I doubt it SweetFX the problem because it works directly on the video card and not the operating system, you may have to do with a recent update windows, are you read a little SweetFX forum ahy see that if one of the latest updates affecting this additive.

KB2670838 this is the update that brought the problem

I'll check to see if that update causes the problem or not.  I supposed it could since the update came out in March and I've only been using SweetFX a few weeks.

Hmmm I just realized another potential problem.  I'll have to test it tonight.  I think the OSD for EVGA Precision might be causing it some issues.  I've got a setting for the OSD checked that is supposed to make it compatible with 3rd party dll's but it might still be having issues.  I think I'll try that before ripping out a windows update.  I had forgotten there was the potential for crashes with programs like Precision until I found the main SweetFX thread at Guru3D and it mentions that.

Wow, sorry dude.  Dunno what might be the issue, it works for me.  Maybe my cut-and-paste was screwy   Didn't mean to cause you any headaches.

Anyway, let's do it this way.  Start with an untouched SweetFX_settings.txt and enable only SMAA Anti-Aliasing and Vibrance, everything else is zeroed out.  Down in the settings, leave SMAA at default and change Vibrance to "#define Vibrance 0.20" (default is 0.15).  That's it, try it out.  Lemme know.

I can't seem to find the thread that pointed to a GUI for sweetfx that makes tweaking a lot easier. I believe it was riseofflight.com or something? Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

And of course now tonight I can't get it to crash at all even using the saved flight that I was doing between KPDX and KSEA on Sunday that would crash any time I went from windowed to full screen or looked at the map or saved a flight.  I think I'll just leave the Precision OSD off though and see if I ever get a crash again since I'm pretty sure that was the problem.

I don't have a scroll Lock key.... So that may be a huge problem.
