I don't have a scroll Lock key.... So that may be a huge problem.

Only if you want to turn the effect off.  It's on by default always.  Even if you turn it off and exit the sim it's on the next time you open FSX.

My SweetFX settings.   You can preview and download my setting from here.

  • Had a quick look at it and it sure is impressive. Just download SweetFX 1.3.7z, unzip it, move the files and directory inside to your main FSX folder and there you go. The scroll lock key switches it

Previously I reported sweetfx crashed within an hour due to d3d11.dll. This is has been solved by removing window update KBKB2670838.

I manage to go beyong 1 hr now without d3d11 crash so I guess this is it. Cheers.

Hmmm I think removing that KB is my next step.  I thought I had my crashes fixed.  Got all loaded up at Cairo ready to go (middle of nowhere, no addon scenery, pretty basic) and as I'm taxiing I pause to check my autogen settings and load a new settings file and bam CTD with no warning and no errors.  Ughhhh, I actually removed SweetFX but I think I'm going to put it back in and try removing the KB first.  Looks like from that link it's even causing problems in some games with nothing else added.

Went ahead and removed that KB.  Won't know the effects until Monday night's flying session though as I'm leaving town for 3 days in the am.  I see the KB is automatically reinstalled if you put IE10 on.  Good thing I don't use Internet Exploder anymore.  Unless word comes out that MS has fixed this KB update, I'm probably not installing anything past the current IE9 that I have.  Wonder if Win8 has the same issues (besides the apparent issues of even installing FSX on it).

More than 6 hrs since KB2670838 removed. No crash with d3d11.dll with sweetfx enabled.

For your info, KB2670838 is an optional update. So no worry that things will be bad in win os.

This fixed my CTD with SweetFX, thanks very much!

Jeff

Guys, what number should I use to assign SweetFX toggle to Shf+F12?

Thanks,

Dirk.

Thanks for this find, lucastng: it's now an entry in the DX10 "How-To" guide, along with appropriate credit.

Does sweetfx work with FSX in DX10 mode? For some reason everything appears washed out. I completely got rid of sweetfx and now everything looks fine.

DX10 is the ONLY mode I can get it to work in. Check your installation routine or your the settings you used. Perhaps something is out of whack.

I've noticed that when I am using some of the settings that you guys post on here, that on my screen it shows up as totally washed out colors and overly bright. I think it's because I am using DX10 mode.

Anyone here using DX10 that has a sweetfx configuration I can try out?

Here I have some pictures in a setting very similar to reality, I hope you like.

For SMAA Antialiasing,do you enable this or leave it off? Since I already have AA enabled and configured in nvidia inspector? I'm assuming no point in activating it in both places?
