February 14, 201313 yr I saw just now that American and US Airways will merger. The boards of both companies approved it today. It will be the world's largest airline. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/13/american-airlines-us-airways-merger_n_2680094.html i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
February 14, 201313 yr I'll bet there will be some opposition to that merger. Like United, Delta, Southwest..... Robert Yunque
February 14, 201313 yr Author It feels a bit like AT&T trying to acquire T-Mobile. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
February 14, 201313 yr Still has to be approved by the commerce dept but will likely be given the green light. Mark CYYZ
February 14, 201313 yr It will mean a loss for us folks here in Arizona, since the combined airline's HQ will be in Texas. The jobs will be missed, but hopefully the combined airline will try to place as many employees as it can. Regards, Jihn
February 14, 201313 yr So I wonder what will happen to American's new paint scheme. Nick Hatchel "Sometimes, flying feels too godlike to be attained by man. February 14, 201313 yr Cactus, you won't hear much about job losses until the merger is approved and the ink is dry on the certificate. The combined airline will have 95,000 employees on the day of the merger. It will be considerably less 2 years later. This will be my fourth merger in 34 years. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
February 14, 201313 yr So I wonder what will happen to American's new paint scheme. I believe that US stated much earlier on in merger talks that the American brand would come out of the merger as the brand of the new airline.

February 14, 201313 yr Not a surprise...This is a big part of the history of American Airlines. Watch this one because this one is more about accountability and the lawyers trying to deflect the fault: http://youtu.be/y-LpzxmFvh0 Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

February 14, 201313 yr Commercial Member There goes US Airways wrecking yet another airline. It's the only way they survive. Let's see, first there was PSA, then America West, now American. Massive layoffs will be forthcoming, certain routes will have fare hikes up to 30-40%. The only winners will be those on Wall street and we see what they have done to the economy over the last several years. But I can have anyone still fly in my little simming world. I still have PSA and America West flying proudly. (ok, time to take my meds). February 14, 201313 yr Clutch, That's the beauty of the simming world. You can fly whatever you want. For some of us, this is our livelihoods and how we support our families. Not quite as much of a game for us as it is for some. BTW, American was wrecked before we came on the scene. Just ask the people who work there.
February 14, 201313 yr In case anyone thinks this deal wasn't done a while ago.....I doubt that they shot this last night! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=68xF-j9h6us
