March 28, 201313 yr Commercial Member I think the recurring theme of 'the Lancair, the C337, the B-55' speaks to the point that while they are all GA, they all scratch different itches for most of us. You really can't go wrong with anything mentioned here, but be sure that they suit the type of GA flying you care to do.

I'd also mention that both the Milviz B-55 and the Flight1 T182T have a 30 day return policy. You really can't go wrong there, since if they aren't for you, no harm done. Jim Stewart Milviz Person.

Yes, IRL these are different animals that would be bought with different real-world preferences and needs in mind. Sometimes we (the community) get so wrapped up in - "it's a great model!" - that we neglect whether the plane it models is one we'd really be interested in. I recommend all three because they meet the base requirement of a well-done model, but more specifically, I would recommend the B55 if you want a B55 with all of it's lovely little quirks, the 337 if you want a funky and unique light twin with great visibility, and the Lancair if you want a 2-seat experimental pocket-rocket. March 28, 201313 yr Actually I think the deepest systems modeling is the Aerosoft Katana 4X, even deeper than the Civilian Mustang. But the thing is so slow lots of people don't mention it. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 28, 201313 yr Lanceair. Get it and you will forget about all the others. OOPS. I meant the real Air Legacy. I hear the Lance air is good, but I assure you that you will love the Legacy.
March 28, 201313 yr Lanceair. Get it and you will forget about all the others. Or maybe you won't forget the others. Not that it's not a great model, but see above comments. I love the Lancair, but there are other planes I still fly more, including RealAir's own Turbine Duke. Scott
March 28, 201313 yr Since no one has mentioned it yet, I will join in with a recommendation for the DA Piper Cheyenne. It is a bit older technology in both the modeling and the cockpit that it is simulating but it still holds up today. It is one of my all time favorite FS plane and the package comes with no less than four different model variants. The systems modeling is great, the sound set is very accurate, the engine modeling is superb and the frame rates are excellent. All in all the immersion level is very, very good. The downside is the GPS is ancient but you can turn off the 3D knobs with the cfg file and replace it with something like a GNS430 although it is quite a tight fit. It comes with a weather radar that will do a nice job of mapping terrain for you as well as show your flight plan with a moving map. All in all an excellent bird! You really can't go wrong with any of the aircraft mentioned here so far though with the Legacy, B55 and C337 being the most popular for good reason.
March 28, 201313 yr Ok I know I am thread jacking a bit here and this may seem silly to some BUT I am thinking of getting the RA legacy but have one question.. Is the night lighting adjustable or is it a all in one switch type thing. March 28, 201313 yr It is on a single switch this time, but it seems to be at a very nice level for night flying, not unrealistically bright like some others. "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley
March 28, 201313 yr The Turbo Duke is also as good as it gets. I fly them both and haven't flown anything else since I got them.
March 28, 201313 yr OOPS. I meant the real Air Legacy. I hear the Lance air is good, but I assure you that you will love the Legacy. Huh? lol. The FS addon company called "RealAir Simulations" created a "Lancair" "Legacy" for FSX. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
March 28, 201313 yr Sorry guys, I was busy flying the Tri 101.11 I almost forgot about this a/c. So, I will getting the Lanc Air, next.! Thanks everyone for your replies and feedback. Very helpful.
March 29, 201313 yr Going by the OP message, the Carenado JetProp meets all the items on the list. Make sure you get the Members mods from the Carenado JetProp section. The only draw back is that it's a low winger, so you have to turn allot to see below... which aint a bad thing flying low in the valleys @ 175 kts.
March 29, 201313 yr DA Cheyenne - a worthy contender too. RA Legacy and Duke equally recommended, but the Cheyenne has a soul.
March 29, 201313 yr To me this GA stuff comes down to what youd like to own or fly in real life. Ryan I'm a lot like you, I like fast props so some of my favorites are: Carenado 210 RA Turbine Duke ASFT Cheyenne Those are the best for me Also worth mentioning: Carenado Baron is good (so is the Milviz B55) I also like the Carenado JetProp but I have to be in a certain mood, sometimes it ticks me off but it has something I can't put my finger on that i like...slow at low altitudes though. The legacy is a good plane but I'd like something more then two seats. At my age sometimes the GA I fly is what I would like to own in the future so I'm picky. What I'm looking forward to: Flight 1 B200 Milviz 350i RealAir and A2A 172 ( not fast I know but it's a 172...) The Razbam metros (the smaller ones count as GA) I would be looking forward to the Carenado TBM but probably won't get it on account of the G1000, I'd also like a good cirrus by a different company....
