March 26, 201313 yr I am now in the market for a high quality small but powerful GA Aircraft!. I am looking for an aircraft that: -- Has top notch graphics (a must) -- A built in moving map -- Built in Terrain marker (shows terrain- Radar) -- Powered by either 1 or 2 prop, turbofan, TurboCharged or Rocket Engines. (ok, kidding- just prop) Or an a/c as close to these specs; What are your recommendations, gents?
March 26, 201313 yr The RealAir Lancair Legacy fits pretty well... Hi HughesMDfkyer4, Does it simulates "Terrain Radar?"
March 27, 201313 yr F1 Cessna 182T has a G1000. Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
March 27, 201313 yr The RealAir Lancair Legacy fits pretty well... A very nice choice... Can you suggest a high-wing GA aircraft of similar quality? I like a full view of the ground.
March 27, 201313 yr I am also considering a high-wing GA aircraft with excellent flight dynamics and visuals. I am debating between the Carenado C182, Carenado C210, and waiting for the RealAir C172.
March 27, 201313 yr What do you guys think about the Carenado SR22 ? The avsim.com review of the Carenado SR22T should be available any day now. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
March 27, 201313 yr Well since you stated great graphics is required but nothing about system simulation and realistic fde, then Carenado is a perfect fit.
March 27, 201313 yr Another vote here for the Real Air Lancair Legacy with the Reality XP GNS WAAS units thrown in. Only way to describe this combination is sublime. You will not be disappointed. The Carenado SR22,,,, well the avionics aren't terribly well featured and it comes with a significant framerate hit. Definitely potential for disappointment. Nick
March 27, 201313 yr Another vote for the Legacy....or the Turbine Duke. Both from RealAir. The Legacy is a low flyer but faaaast. The Duke can go pretty high (FL250 without a problem) and faster. Both are rock solid and have wonderful gauges. They both come with the GNS530 (but they're better with the RealityXP 530). I should add that these are two different kinds of airplanes...both powerful but the Lancair is an 'experimental' while the Turbine Duke is a traditional workhorse. March 27, 201313 yr What do you guys think about the Carenado SR22 ? Really dumbed down G1000... not on my top-ten list. I am also considering a high-wing GA aircraft with excellent flight dynamics and visuals. I am debating between the Carenado C182, Carenado C210, and waiting for the RealAir C172. Carenado C210 is solid, especially with one or two RXP GNS units. C182Q is nice, but a bit older.. A very nice choice... Can you suggest a high-wing GA aircraft of similar quality? I like a full view of the ground. You get a better view from the Legacy and its bubble cockpit than from a traditional high wing Cessna and it's windows. Bert
March 27, 201313 yr Legacy with or without RXP packages. Best GA out there. Baytower RV7 with RXP as well Also if yours seeking updatable navdata do check out the Flight1 T182C. And if you're craving raw speed consider the A2A Civilian Mustang. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 27, 201313 yr I own none of the above mentioned planes (except for the general Carenado recommendation by B747-400F) so my post is not meant to say that my own suggestion is any better than the ones above. I used to have a wish-list for features very closely resembling your list. What I had in mind was something that could be used on short runways in the middle of nowhere, but would fly a longish distance rapidly, while looking and flying superb. I did not place much emphasis on system depth. I bought Carenado's JetProp and it does it all, and is a whole lot of fun.You did not mention your preferences for system depth. I don't know if this is because this is not very important to you, or because you take it for granted to want the maximum in this department. (Both of these stances are, of course, perfectly fine.) I seem to remember comments from those who prefer the best systems modeling and who found the JetProp lacking in this department, I believe mostly because of the GPS units and/or the large glass gauges. The only downside for me is a noticeable hit on FPS, the avionics master switch is a frame rate toggle switch that adds/subtracts 10 to 15 FPS (3.0GHz Q6600, so not exactly brand new hardware). But I have no idea how this compares to the recommendations above. Should you buy this one, get the "Optional Patch".
