The Time for a GA has arrived !

The only downside for me is a noticeable hit on FPS, the avionics master switch is a frame rate toggle switch that adds/subtracts 10 to 15 FPS (3.0GHz Q6600, so not exactly brand new hardware). But I have no idea how this compares to the recommendations above.

LOL.  I've heard some good things about that airplane from others.

Lancair with the GNS 530.

Ok Thanks

Well since you stated great graphics is required but nothing about system simulation and realistic fde, then Carenado is a perfect fit.

I'm also looking at the Milviz Baron 55. Looks like it comes with a built in GNS 530 and  430..No need to purchase it separately. Humm ?

Yeah , I'll probably go with the Milviz Baron55. I am not a big fan of small a/c like I am of airliners (hardcore).  I just need something  better than the defaults a/c   to wonder around the mountains and fly slow...But, of course, not  only that it flies but that it has great graphics...I am a big fan of beauty!

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Carenado C337 Skymaster. Out of the half dozen or so GA planes I have, this one seems to always be my goto plane. It looks fantastic, has decent speed for covering large areas yet you can get it pretty slow to look around and it has an exceptional view out the cockpit with the wings above and behind you. It has a decent FDE bhy Mr. Stolle and the systems are ok

I'll second the Skymaster. It has the looks, the equipment, speed and versatilty and safety of two engines with the simplicity of a single-engined plane. It has proper paints to go anywhere in the world.

The Sky master is great indeed. However, if I had to choose one, I'd probably go for the RealAir Legacy, because it feels more realistic with all those nice things like shaking indicator needles and visual/acousitcal effects when you retract/extend the gear etc.

Other good ones, that come to my mind are the Carenado Caravan and the Aerosoft Twin Otter(wait for the V2 in this case), since the OP said he wanted something powerful that can fly slow.

I have a small handful of regular flyers, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them: The (flawless) Lancair Legacy; the Milviz B-55; and Carenado's C337, F33A Bonanza, and C185. The latter two might not be as shiny as the others, but I love them. It's part of their appeal. Together, they make for a nice collection of planes - something for almost any sort of GA flying.

I created this thread a while ago, with VC shots of all the GA planes I had at the time.  I certianly don't have everything but you can get an idea of what is what.  The thumbnails don't work like the used to, just right click on the thumbnail and open in new tab or window.

If you get one that isn't an A2A Accusimmed bird, make sure you get Accu-Feel V2 if you don't already have it.

my 'top' GA list

RV-7, good mix of STOL, IFR/VFR X-country, Aerobatics, decent cruise speed, great FDE, Visuals..etc.  I took it around the world, because it could land me pretty much anywhere.

Classics Hangar BF-108, STOL, Vintage German avionics, a little slower than the RV...great experience tho for somthing different.

Lancair Legacy, very excellent as stated above.

A2A Civil P-51 w/ accusim...if you feel you have the cojones to handle a warbird...this is the one to get. It will keep you on your toes. :)  Accusimmed planes have the best system depth, FDE, failure modelling, wear and tear model that adapts to your flying style...etc.

If you can navigate wiithout a moving map, you might try A2A's other great accusimmed fighters.

If you can't live without moving maps, the F1 C182T is a great G1000 experience

RealAir Turbine Duke.  Best PT-6 simulation available so far, you must obey temp and torque limits like the real thing.

Milviz 310R, very nice, great FDE...you can really experience the chaos of loosing an engine after takeoff in a light powerful twin, you learn to respect your Vmc speed in a hurry.

Lotus L-39C...awesome jet trainer, great for GA fun...tho it lacks an autopilot so might be difficult for one used to airliners.

Alabeo Waco YMF-5, real nice biplane cruiser.

Carenado 337, I think this one is Carenado's best work, decent FDE.

Aerosoft Discus BM...excellent soaring motorglider.

Cheers

Many of these aircraft come with the default FSX GPS500, reworked to add the radio, and now called GNS.

The Milviz Baron is one of them.. Carenado and RealAir do the same thing.

If you are looking for graphics beauty, the Legacy is still king - and the Milviz Baron lags behind the Carenado C337 IMHO..

You definitly want to look into the RXP GNS530W or 430W.  They act just like the real thing.  THere is also a Summer 2011 database update.

I would go for the MilViz 310R, 2 engine GA - it comes with an analogue and a digital G1000 version. Its a stunner and is fantastic to fly. Another possibility is the Lionheart Kodiac (a bit big for an real GA imo). It also also features a digital panel with a nice, big terrain GPS.

I have and love the Milviz Baron and can certainly recommend it, but like most low-wing light twins be aware that it's not the best sightseeing plane.  And yes, it has default Garmins, but I would still recommend the RXP gauges, and the Baron does allow full integration of both 430 and 530.  BTW, this is not a turbocharged plane so don't expect to be able to take it out of Telluride, CO on a summer afternoon.

I'd join a few of the more recent comments and recommend the Carenado 337 if good visibility is desirable - not turboed either though.  The Carenado 210 is a turbo model, but even with its strutless high wing, it doesn't offer near the vis of the 337.  The flight model isn't as good either, though with some recent mods I'm much happier with it.  If you want to go low and fast, with good vis (and don't need/want to carry multiple passengers) then the Lancair as others have mentioned.  Also not turbo-ed, but with its power/weight ratio and efficient airframe, you can still maintain climb rates to decent altitudes.
