The only downside for me is a noticeable hit on FPS, the avionics master switch is a frame rate toggle switch that adds/subtracts 10 to 15 FPS (3.0GHz Q6600, so not exactly brand new hardware).

I've heard this from other users, but it seems to be related to the default GPS units.  Those of us using RXP units don't seem to see this.  Especially if you keep the radar unit turned off - it' doesn't really display anything meaningful anyway.   Just FYI.

The RV-7, Legacy, and P-51 are all low wing but have fantastic visiblity. The P-51 does have a big V-12 up front, so takeoffs and landings can be challenging visibility wise...but once in the air and leveled off, great visiblity.

Not a GA per se but the Aerosoft OV-10 is fantastic, great visiblity, damage modelling, realistic turboprop opeartion.   It has the Aerosoft 'GPS'.  But you guys have to remember, not to long ago, we GA pilots had to navigate without GPS/Moving maps...etc...use the Mag Compass/DG, VOR/ADF...look out the window to follow landmarks and so on.   It isn't hard, and it will teach you a lot about fundimental navigation.

Second all the above choices, however, only got the Realair Legacy last week and its magic (I have most of the rest too) - easily the best GA from every aspect BUT deep systems simulation.

On the other hand, how about the Aerosoft / Marcel Feldt Diamond Katana 20X? Might not be fast but its beautiful graphicswise and very deep systemswise. Just be aware its a bit needy in the care department (washing, hoovering, checking oil levels..). Almost accusimlike but strangely addictive.

The Carenado C337 and RealAir Lancair legacy are both at the top of their game.  Everybody should own these two planes (and of course the RXP GNS530W for them).

I would love to see a quality Cessna 414 or 421. Maybe Milviz and Flight 1 could tackle that after the King Air, tha would be sweeeet!

I agree those are two on my wish list.

Or a Cessna 441

The Carenado SR22,,,, well the avionics aren't terribly well featured and it comes with a significant framerate hit. Definitely potential for disappointment.

Massively so.     On my rig, the Carenado SR22 is heavier on frames than the NGX or AXE - and with a lot more stutters!

The problem with the Carenado SR22 is only when the terrain map is enabled.  I think we can agree everyone takes a huge hit with it on.  I usually fly with it off and then the plane performs quite smoothly.

Carenado C210 is solid, especially with one or two RXP GNS units.

C182Q is nice, but a bit older..

Sorry—I meant the newer CT182T.

Without RXP gauges, which aircraft, between the Carenado C210, C337, and CT182T and RealAir Legacy, is most immersive? My primary immersion factors are flight dynamics and visuals.

Enough systems complexity (i.e., for realistic normal procedures) is important, but I will use the GPS primarily for spatial orientation, not extensive route planning or high-precision navigation.

The Legacy...  Next I'd say the T182T G1000...

Don't have the CT182T, but I do have all the others, and...

I guess it depends on how you define immersive.  I fly all 3 of them, and they all have great qualities, but I fly the 337 far more than the other two, followed by the Lancair and then closely followed by the 210 (but with mods).  Part of that, though, has to do with real world preferences.  IRL, the 2 seat Lancair, while attractive, wouldn't meet my typical needs.  And while others will cite the Lancair's shakes and so-on, there's just something about the 337 that sells me.  I can almost smell the avgas when I fly it.

But really, I love all three - albeit the 210 only after some mods.

Not to sound like a broken record but the Carenado Skymaster, Realair Legacy Lancair, and Milviz B-55 are on all on the top of my list too. But...and I know this is not GA, I recently purchased the VRS Superbug and was blown away by this bird. Incredible detail and time was put into this and despite its complexity, fps is incredibly good.  Definitely worth checking out, and it has terrain mapping btw.

The Legacy, no doubt.

Bert

Any of those + accu feel will give you reasonable immersion, probably the Legacy at the top of the list.  If I were you I would also consider waiting for A2A's 172 and Cherokee releases...I believe they will include a Cherokee 235 with this too, which will have a little more 'pep' than the Skyhawk.  I know it is probably 'blasphemy' here to say it, but I think A2A is even ahead of PMDG as far as the immersion and system depth go.    I believe even Robert said their DC-6 would have indepth systems but not to the extreme level of Accusim.

Hands down, the most complete GA immersion is the Civil Accusimmed P-51.  The engine coughs, sputters, backfires based on your engine managment.  The engine wears out over time, the rate depends on your flying skills and aircraft care.   You now have a reason to do an engine run-up...you actually should check magneto drop, suction...etc, like a real piston aircraft.  You can start the engine on primer/fuel pump pressure, then feed in the mixture.  This is usually the normal start proceedure for any fuel injected airplane.  You can shut off the engine in the air, then restart it again simply from the windmilling prop, mags on, fuel on, like a real aircraft.   It really makes you think like a pilot.
