Midwest (USA) Regional Airports Payware/Freeware

Featured Replies

There is also a freeware scenery for KPLN-Pellston airport in Michigan. It was made for FS9, but looks fine in FSX provided that you delete some of the files for trees/fences as they produce a strange effect.

Iowa airports. 5 modified airports-add on freeware.  Chicagoland has lots of airport nearby and the ole famous Megis Field, Couple examples use them with my msev2 photosceneries .

Greater Kankakee freeware.

But no Williard/Champaign, an airport with historical FS significance.  Wonder why no one has touched it?

I've slowly been working on my Duluth DLH scenery. It's basically ADEX upgrades with photorealistic summer day textures. If anyone is interested (or has even heard of Duluth lol) just PM me.

DLH has two runways, one over 10k ft for your big jets and precision and non precision approaches. Also has helipads.

Hi Ryan!

I'll take you up on your offer of Duluth! I've got the Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit sceneries from Aerosoft's U.S. Cities collection. My favorite flight is Sturgeon Bay (KSUE)  to Ludington (KLDM) at Dawn in the Summer. I was fortunate enough to get the old Megascenery Lake Michigan set with Night Lighting before it went away. Now if someone could just make the Car Ferry and some Great Lakes Ore Boats.

If (big if) I have enough time this summer, I'll do another small airfield suitable for turboprops and mid size jets. Looking just east of the Midwest this time.

Chicago is my home town and I tend to try and fly in or out of the area (in FSX) as much as possible. FSDT has a great KORD and FlyTampa's update for KMDW is respectable. However, I am on the lookout for destinations. .......

@ the OP...

I live in the Denver area but have been to Chicago several times.. always in the May time frame and I love your city.... have heard that it gets maybe cold and windy in winter though? .. :)

My most recent UA flight into KORD had a revised clearance so I heard (in Ch 9) the new STAR assigned (BULLZ), which I have "flown" in the NGX (we were on a UA 737NG as well on the real flight). What I have done is save an NGX flight before the TOD for the arrival into KORD, and try varying weather and conditions using FSX ATC to get some different arrival options.

We landed on 27R (the new north runway), are most lanings to the west?

Anyway- just landing at the same airport may not be an exciting as a flight somewhere else, biut with the FSDT KORD v2 it sure is fun....

Thanks, Bruce.

Check out KESN at Easton, Md.  Jetport presence is growing as the area has become a retirement haven for luminaries such as VP Cheney and Gen. Schwarzkopf.

Look through these freeware scenery files. I've found some really good add-ons here.

I reside in Streamwood, about 35 miles west of Chi-Town, and I use Schaumburg as my home base for GA flying, O'hare/Midway for the tubes.

I'm following closely to see what people post since I also fly in the same hood. Green Bay X is an excellent add-on and makes for some nice little flights. There's quite a bit in that list I posted and I'm sure you'll find some to your liking.

Chi-Town is Chicago.  It is approx 160 miles NNW of Naptown, otherwise known as Indianapolis.

I got the KICT Cessna Facility in Wichita, Kansas as that is where many of the FANCON attendees will be landing this week - http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=KICT+Cessna+Facility+Upgrade&CatID=root&Go=Search.

Best regards,
