If you bought a system with Windows 8 Pro installed, check with Microsoft, you probably have the right to a free downgrade licence to Windows 7 Pro.

Cheers, Andy.

Yes that is right! But how to you see it while flying this plane....? To you fly and look around? I can only look or flying - but not both

Doesn't take long  to look down  and press the to/ga on the side of  the throttles, and on the ground it  done on pre flight so your not  flying

You could always "upgrade" back to Windows 7. It is still available and is quite inexpensive. A Andrew Entwistle

Thanks for the info. I've just checked and it seems I'm only eligible if I have the pro version. Still, there is a shop in town offering "upgrades to Windows 7", so will see how much it will be for a basic Windows 7 license.

All of my Win8 problems with FSX so far have been solved by paying attention to the UAC and User permissions for various executables (and by always installing and Running As Administrator, for extra redundancy).

The only one I couldn't fix this way is the Q400 sound issue, and it looks like Majestic will have that resolved for us soon in their upcoming patch.

I haven't had the joystick issue, granted; I would bet MS will finally have to address that in a Win8 update at some point; or Saitek will, in their driver software.

I was hoping for an easy way to get the plane in cold & dark mode.

Ah well.....the wait continues.

How about turning about 6 switchers off and then saving it..........just how hard is that?

My Q400 loads C&D every time. Is it really to hard to save a state?

The PushBack function is something that Oley is trying to have a look at - I am testing a .dll at the moment which has potential but still has some minor issues.  More on this at a later time.  Regarding AES, I have never used it as I saw that it can become a money-pit....LOL  I have several airports and cannot fathom having to pay credits for each one.  GSX was the knight in shining armour for me.  Not sure if any of our Beta group uses AES.

Will have to look into it.

Simeon,

AES can be activated for quite some airports for free.

All airports with '0' credits are free: http://www.aerosoft.com/shop-re/links/aesairports.html

Can you activate the automatic Altimeter adjustment (the B button) for those of us that don't want/know how to adjust it correctly manually? It'd be a nice addition to those of us that are a bit... overwhelmed by the detail of the Q400 (which is overwhelming if you don't have a PMDG plane or similar in your hangar yet).

As a matter of interest, I am getting between 10/15 extra fps with the dash compared to the ngx.

Same here, this greatly outperforms the NGX for me at the moment, and has quickly become one of my favourites.

I downgraded to Windows 7 as discussed earlier in this post and all the problems I had, i.e. Cutting out sound, joystick disconnecting and poor performance went away. I really wanted to like Windows 8, but such bugs were just unacceptable.

As for implementing the "B" Key....I think this will stay as it is.  In the real aircraft you do not have an automated function for this, and the functionality in the Dash is quite simple enough as both altimeter knobs are sync'd.  Once you get up to FL180 simply press the knob and it reverts to STD (29.92), and while descending down through FL180, simply reset the barometric pressure to what ATC has given you or, what your weather add-on reports.

Our Q300 was/is programmed this way as well.
