Would any AVSIMmer recommend any of these planes?

I wouldn't even have added it to the list considering it's a small turboprop, but I added it in what with how wrong I was about judging the Q400 and Avro before purchase as well. And now it seems that I'd have missed out on another great aircraft if I did leave it out! I'd like to encourage everyone to keep adding their opinion, but so far, I'm getting more and more drawn to the Islander.

The Islander isn't a turbo-prop ..... it has two modest 260hp piston engines.

+1 BN2 Islander

It's a great little twin - perfect early career 'air hauler' - with or without salt.

The Islander is truly one of the most immersive aircraft available for FSX IMO. The sounds and shakes really give you a feel for the airplane, and it's a blast to island hop in!

+1

I love the islander. Incredibly slow, but incredibly immersive!

I personally hate Wilco products, of-course others have different opinions and likes. The only aircraft I would recommend in that list (although I don't actually own it) would have to be the BN-2 Islander by F1.

The first two aren't wilco products.

IMO I wouldn't give Wilco house room... as for the Islander, as has already been said, a wondeful aircraft. A vey enjoyable flying experience.

Wilco didn't do Feelthere good.

Feelthere's been doing some fine deveopments on their own, but the 'Wilco level of development' didn't help them along.

Just compare their EMB175/195 with its in-depth FMC to the Wilco 777 - hard to believe it's the same developer ...

They're not? And I always thought they were! Silly me :/

+1 for the islander.

Top speed lets it down, but the ruggedness more than makes up for it.

Both the BN2 Islander and the Embraer Regional Jets are great choices. The e-jets v2 has a very outdated cockpit and I don't use it a lot. I haven't got the crj nextgen but from the feedback that has a terrible flight model.

The BN2 Islander is a lovely plane, it's very easy to fly. It has a bit of a peculiar GPS, which can be a plus if your into that sort of thing. It's pretty easy though to edit the panel.cfg around a bit to add a default GPS.

The Embraer ERJ is a more complex aircraft. It has a partially simulated FMC and there's a lot more depth to the systems to get aquinted with. It's also a very hands-on jet because it doesn't have auto throttle so you'll be adjusting the power manually continuously during the flight.

Personally I'd say my Embraer ERJ gets more flight time than my BN2 Islander, it really depends on what type of flying you enjoy.

The first two were made by Feelthere and only published/sold by Wilco. They are actually pretty good systems wise (no failures modelled). I wouldn't say that the FMC is simplified. It has full LNAV/VNAV capability, perf. calculations, SID/STARS and custom waypoints database. Actually it's the same database format that Majestic uses.

Ejets v2. and v1 are almost identical packages, just a different aircraft versions, E175/E195 vs E170/190. Visually they look more dated than ERJ's, which is a bit newer addon. Still a nice plane to fly and one of the most automated airliners.

ERJ's 135-145 are quite similar to Dash Q400, and actually it is the type of airplane that first replaced Dash8-200/300 in many airlines and now is being replaced by Q400 due to better fuel economy. No autothrottle on this one and FMC is a bit 'exotic' if you are used to Boeing type FMC's. I think it's the best addon Feelthere made.

My biggest problem with both ERJ and Ejets, apart from dated looks is that autopilot sometimes makes very jerky movements. Other than that, the simulation level can be compared to the recent QW Bae 146.

The Islander is just the opposite flying experience. Low & slow, classic piston plane.
