LOL do you guys still produce planes at all?

Of course and as mentioned we are committed to BOTH 2D and 3D. That allows users to pick whichever they prefer.

Guys,

"For free" I meant USE A FREEWARE or DEFAULT panel. I did not mean that programming a 2D panel was free, easy, or otherwise!!

So, add a freeware panel to your VC only planes, instead of shelling out more money for other programs just to use the VC!

we humans can only see a very small spot sharp and clear. Stretch out your arm, hold up your thumb ( a gesture that should not be unfamiliar here in these parts), look at it and see for yourself. It's only your thumb that looks sharp and clear, the rest is a blur... No way a pilot can see a bunch of gauges/instruments clear and sharp like on a 2D panel.

I think a visit to an optomitrist is due  :-)

An interesting discussion. One that has been on the forum more than once. I can understand both sides of the argument. Personally, I have spent enough time flying around in GA planes that I prefer the 3d VC. When flying looking around is what you do. When I do a plane the VC is a big thing for me. In my opinion it makes or breaks the illusion of flying the given plane. Why would I ever bother to make a 2d version of this?

I can see in a single-monitor environment VC has many uses but I don't see how you can do a home 'pit with it?  Granted that's a small user group and I assume that devs don't see the expense as worthwhile, and I don't suppose including a 2d as a paid upgrade would generate enough revenue.  Maybe Fr Bill or another dev could comment, but it seems like including a popup would require as much work aside from the panel bmp as the 2d?

I haven't flown 2d since fs2002 I'll abmit I use the 2d overheads on airliners

Actually all my planes including Carenado have a 2D panel. I don't know what monitors you guys have, but my monitor is 2D. Also many panels come with different preset views that you can access with Shift+A and A.

I prefer VC.
I think 2D is ugly and bad for the flight experience.

How bout instead of LOL to each their own you explain to me your take on my above post?  I seriously don't understand the appeal of 2D panels.  Why do you guys like them so much?  Why do you favor them over VC?  Let me hear it...

Most VC panels I have in acrft including the high end acrft do not have great graphics plus they are very cumbersome to use. I don't like spinning around the cockpit when I can simply press a button, switch or screen symbol to get the entire panel in a way which is easy to see and use ( resized and fitted to my preference). VC's may be okay for a piper cub but an MD-11 etc. just does not work for me. These You Tube eg. vc clips I look at almost all have the view set back so far it looks like you are looking at everything through a glass. Pretty hard to get 3d on a single flat screen. No,I'll stick to 2d probably forever or at least until I have a surround screen which truly renders a 3d effect. But to each their own, you like VC fine, a lot of us don't and developers who only provide VC are losing a lot of business, well at least mine. B)

So if I understand correctly, some people prefer to use 2D panels, and others prefer to use the VC.

Those that use the 2D panels do so because they find it more realistic and/or convenient, and those that use the VC do so because they find it more realistic and/or convenient.

Seems pretty straightforward to me.

The NGX HAS a 2D cockpit! What more do you want?
