July 2, 201312 yr Which p3d license I should go for? I can spend 50$ license.. Is it monthly bases? After 1 month i have to pay 50$ again? Also How about addons compatibility ? Thanks you pay $50 one time not monthly http://www.prepar3d.com/
July 2, 201312 yr With no ground traffic or ground vehicles I might as well go fly MS Flight! That's my point , all these standard features and I can't even touch them or it will be a slide show. "Somewhat" higher AI isn't a slide show on my system. But AI certainly does hit performance. I find AI bloody irritating to be honest, so have no issue with it low. FSX has far more to offer than MS Flight, AI or no AI. I'm more interested in being in the cockpit, the systems, and actually piloting an advanced aircraft to be honest. Rather than watching cars and other aircraft taxi and fly past. :smile: Maybe you also could get more into flying than observing.

I would like to disagree on that one. If i remove BP=0 and Affinetymask 14 from my .cfg file I will get alot of stutter and my frames would drop, and I will have to lower my settings to achive the same performance, so for me this affmask "bloatware" and bufferpool tweak is a miracle cure :rolleyes: Too the OP, I see youre using LOD radius 6.5 try and og back to default 4.5. And do u have hypertreading on? Affinetymask 80 sounds weird, also see you have "Aircraft cast shadows on itself" activated, this could also kill your performance. Also turn of termal visuals... probably more I could put my finger on, but it seems you have tweaked your FSX to Death. I would start over with a new .cfg file and follow kostas guide except the LOD setting(Experiment with that later when you have a smooth sim)
July 2, 201312 yr Question for those who have been with FSX since day one. Did this thing run right then? O r did it always require poking and prodding?
July 2, 201312 yr in all seriousness - switch to Prepar3d - you won't look back. In all seriousness: it has yet to be proven that is not a DEAD END. :-;

July 2, 201312 yr Moderator In all seriousness: it has yet to be proven that is not a DEAD END. :-; yup - like FSX isn't? At least P3D is still being developed. I guess I'll just keep enjoying flying it until it goes the way of FSX - at least I'll have new toys to play with - not 2005 technology. But, you are ABSOLUTELY correct - it has not been proven that it is not a dead end. I'll wait until it is and then stop using it but meanwhile.......onward and upward. Vic Does it upgrade over the current FSX? or Do I have to reinstall everything again? Thanks Fresh install - it is NOT an upgrade to FSX. You CAN run it side by side, if you wish, assuming you have enough disk space. Many add-ons work out of the box, many are being developed specifically for P3D and many do not work. There are lots of posts and info about which do and don't. For $50 money back guarantee and some hours of your time to install it - it is worth a try. Both my FSX and my P3D installs run perfectly and I hardly ever fly FSX any more - P3d is just too smooth. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
July 2, 201312 yr Well, on the P3D issue: if the PMDG jets will run on it, I may consider it...so would they run?

I would start over with a new .cfg file and follow kostas guide except the LOD setting(Experiment with that later when you have a smooth sim) I just had to quote myself so the OP sees this, because this thread is starting to turn into a "this vs that sim" and it's not very helpful for the OP. You could also try removing the reject threshold and only use Poolsize=0. Your problem is that your FSX settings are not good and you have some strange tweaks applied. Start all over with a new config and and follow kostas guide... And there are certain settings you just can't use in DX9 like shadows, thermals etc Also that cloud draw distance could be hard on your system especially if your using HD clouds and high antialising settings. Tweaking works great if it's done right and with balanced settings, you have just added to many and I belive wrong tweaks for your system and some wrong FSX settings... And about Orbx YMML, turn of the most demanding flows and stuff in the Control panel otherwise you will never have good frames there with the NGX.
July 2, 201312 yr Well, on the P3D issue: if the PMDG jets will run on it, I may consider it...so would they run? yes :ph34r: but not legally :ph34r: you will need the "TOOL" :ph34r:

July 2, 201312 yr Hi Sid: Thanks for posting your info. Just an fyi for the next time: if you use the "More Reply Options" at the bottom-right corner of your reply, you will see that it enables you to add a txt file as an attachment, so that it doesn't take up two pages of scrolling a web page that can't be edited-ok! So - aside from a few changes to the fsx.cfg, most of your issues can be solved by simply bumping up the speed of your processor. You have a beautiful 2600K there, and it's hardly working!! There are folks reading this that would die for this proc! Now - how you proceed is in some degree dependent upon your cooling system, Sid: the standard stock fan being adequate to allow up to 4.5 - maybe even 4.6. A good air system will allow 4.8 GHZ, and a Corsair closed water system (for e'g') H80i or H100i (if you have room for the dual rad) will permit higher. You should not feel afraid to do this - the 2600 overclocks very easily and reliably, without suddenly shooting up to high temps. Here are three pdf's with settings that you can use, based upon the ASUS Guide. Also note that 95% of all overclockers disable the processor's hyper-threading function. The fsx.cfg is mostly ok, I've changed a few things, and left some notes. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
July 2, 201312 yr Question for those who have been with FSX since day one. Did this thing run right then? O r did it always require poking and prodding? After a five hour search, I got FSX before it was released on day one! B) Bought a new, pretty good computer beforehand just to run FSX. Even so, it was a slideshow when using aggressive settings. So I did what so many don't want to do, I found a sweet spot for FPS and enjoyed the game. Now six years+, we see people who think they have the world's fastest computer and because of that they can throw anything and everything into the game. When the results are not what they expected who do they blame? Microsoft, of course! I'm veering off a little here, but... notice how many overweight people there are in the world today? Just because you can eat a lot does not mean you should. Your body has limits to what it can process, especially if you sit at a computer playing a flight simulation game for hours on end... Now switch that over to the game and how people want to gorge on the buffet of add-ons that sits before them and yet they sit and wonder why the game suffers from obesity! FSX does so many things right, but people want to say how poorly it works because they don't have the will power to say enough. It's almost as if I took my pickup truck over to the mega home improvement store and loaded the 4' x 8' bed full of 80# bags of cement. Should hold about 50 or 60. But it's designed to handle 12. But I guess I will blame Chevrolet for not anticipating my lack of control about cramming the pickup's bed full of cement. I'm figuring as long as the tires don't pop, I should be able to drive it just like I did when the bed was empty, shouldn't I? And the analogy to overloading the pickup bed is true. I saw someone who did that and that the bed was sitting about two inches off the tires. Bet he was in for a surprise when he went to apply the brakes... :excl:
