July 23, 201312 yr think she is half german phillip. If you go back as far as the Great War 1914 to 1918, the German Emperor, Kaiser Wilhelm was Queen Victoria's eldest grandson. The Zsar of Russia was a cousin, then of course King George a cousin to the Zsar and the Kaiser. Even Franz Josef (Hapsburgs) were related. But they all went to war with each other. July 23, 201312 yr Strictly speaking, she is half German and half Scottish. George VI (her father) was born a Saxe-Coburg-Gotha Exactly...thank you for that I was tired of a former comment that was removed. Let us just call this differences in cultures folks, and let us just respect our individual cultures folks....with that we will all get along fine...just fine This Forum does state: Where Flight Simulation Enthusiasts Gather from Around the World! There are 53 Commonwealth Nations in the world, This baby is the future Head of State of those nations, and many citizens of those nations are members on this forum....therefore respect the head of state of your fellow members is all...Future or otherwise. Cheers :drinks: Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
July 23, 201312 yr It also means Prince Harry just got bumped down the list of those in line for the throne. Poor guy. Lucky escape I reckon-- he'll have all the celebrity without the responsibility. How times have changed. ... and it was about then that the British royal family changed their name to Windsor, for patriotic reasons... I suspect most European royal families are pretty closely related: it was a class thing. There's scope for some pretty impressive family feuds. Note that the new prince's great-grandfather is Greek and Danish. Let them thrive, I say, and congratulations to the new parents.
July 23, 201312 yr Lucky escape I reckon-- he'll have all the celebrity without the responsibility. On the one hand that is very true. However on the other hand, as Mel Brooks would say, it is good to be the king! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
July 23, 201312 yr The next thing you know, we'll have a naming contest here! And no... Let's not go there. Orville Wilbur, right?
July 23, 201312 yr OMG, why would anyone really care about this...? Just because you don't, do not belittle or scoff at those that do. As someone above alluded to, there are millions of people who have an interest in this around the world simply because they are members of the Commonwealth.

July 23, 201312 yr Meh..... The UK's version of Hollywood, except the Royal Family actually loves their country. Regards, Todd Harrell Computer: i7 3770k @ 4.6 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, GTX 1070 GPU, 750W PSU, 250 GB SSD (Win 7), 500 GB SSD (P3D), 2 x 1TB HDD, 28-inch Viewsonic 1080p monitor Sim: P3Dv3
July 23, 201312 yr OMG, why would anyone really care about this...? Because it is our duty as peasants! I agree. :good:
July 23, 201312 yr OMG, why would anyone really care about this...? Because one day he will be King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Head of the Commonwealth, so several hundred million people around the globe are affected and interested, whether or not they approve of this way of selecting a future head of state. And speaking personally, much as I am fond of Prince Henry (Harry), I'm quite relieved that he's been pushed one place further away from the Crown Imperial. Petraeus
July 23, 201312 yr OMG, why would anyone really care about this...? As others have said, the future head of state of the UK was born yesterday, not every day that happens. We saw the US presidential elections being announced on here, yet they take place every 4 years, this is a once in a generation (literally) event. For many people this infant will in 50 years time likely be their leader. For others such as myself, he'll be the leader of my country's closest neighbour and largest trading partner and for others, he's going to be the leader of a country that is relatively important for it's size. It's big enough news, and certainly worth a mention on here in the "Off Topic" section of the site. Begs the question what some expect when they come to Hangar Chat. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
