FTX Global Released!

1)Unfortunately I didn't backup from FSX default textures so is it OK that I just install FTX Global over current Textures?

FTX Global can backup your current textures. If you use this option during install, it will simply backup the mix of FSX/GEX textures you currently have. If you don't, you won't be able to conveniently revert to whatever textures you had installed before FTX Global. Your choice.

2)I read here some problems between UTX lights and FTX Global. So if I turn off UTX Lights(night) option on UTX option, It will temporary solve the problem?

Thanks

UTX creates new types of roads, which currently are not supported by FTX Global, that means you won't see FTX 3D lights on them, but you can still keeep the UTX 3D lights on.

This hs been confirmed by John Venema, he said they'll look on it.

The FTX lights work with other vector addons. For example I have an OpenVFR package for my country and FTX 3D lights work fine on the roads added by this product.

When you install FTX Global, does it overwrite your REX textures?

No, as Rex don't provide terrain textures.

Does FTX Light Tweaker still work for FTX Global so that we can modify the halo shape and size of the night lighting?

Yes, keep UTX installed as FTXG does not contain vector data.  Just turn off UTX night lights and industrial landclass if preferred.

I'd say definitely yes. It adds a lot to the whole experience with both of these enabled. I said in a post yesterday that just after departing from Amsterdam yesterday I took a look around and with both UTX Eu and FTXG it looked stunning!

I added one more screen of the New York, NY area at night:

That may have done it for me. I have a lot of payware stuff in Asia and was waiting for screenies, BUT and theirs a big BUT those pics are stamped orbx,,,,,would still like a few pics by Avsim members

Geez, what do you think, Orbx is going to fake screen shots?

I'm going to have to say I'm very impressed with this product. I'm running autogen at 100%, and I'm getting a steady 30fps. I have it locked there. Wow. Can't wait for FTX OpenLC add-ons to make this even better. Here's a screenshot of it running over Hong Kong. Pretty much everything is maxed out and running smooth as butter!

Everytime I read something about OpenLC I notice everyone forgets something which imho is quite important and makes buying it a no brainer: OpenLC will not only be landclass (specially made for FTXG) but it will also come with region specific textures!!!

As you may know FTXG comes with some 9.5 GB of textures. JV said that when you buy all 7 OpenLC regions you will end up with some 10 to 12 GB of EXTRA region specific textures!!! So OpenLC will double the amount of textures you get with FTXG! Well, that was the promise anyway.  ^_^

Imho this is quite an important thing to mention whenever you talk about OpenLC. This makes a LOT of difference and turns the purchase of OpenLC into a no brainer for everyone who owns FTXG. (OpenLC will ONLY work with FTXG!) You will get even more diverse scenery and even more less repetitive scenery. And when you consider FTXG is already GREAT, you can imagine how much greater it will be with OpenLC! ^_^

lets put it this way. If they used the screenshots that were posted here today as their promotional material I dont think they would have sold much.

A few screenshots of mine actually convinced a few people to buy FTXG... B) ^_^

I think even my own screenshots look better than the ones on FTX's site. ;)

Promotional stuff always looks better. Just have a look at any flight simulators promotional vids LOL.

That's the beauty of marketing, get used to it.
