July 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member I don't want to be annoying or something, but I just saw two flock of birds above some random river in Germany. FTXG maybe have more aces up the sleeve? July 30, 201312 yr Hi Folks, I am still 'umming & arrring' over purchasing this one. Would someone be kind enough to post a picture of either say Fiji or Rarotonga as I would like to see the difference over default in flying from NZ into a Pacific Island. Thanks in advance Cheers Dave
July 30, 201312 yr I'm going to have to say I'm very impressed with this product. I'm running autogen at 100%, and I'm getting a steady 30fps. I have it locked there. Wow. Can't wait for FTX OpenLC add-ons to make this even better. Here's a screenshot of it running over Hong Kong. Pretty much everything is maxed out and running smooth as butter! Whooooooahhhh, what a shot! ......... That's a beauty; one of the best FTXG screenies so far. Lol what shader tweaking? Just copy Steve's shader fixes and that's all'.you should be ready to go. At least that was my scenario. +1 This was my experience too. I wasn't expecting it to be..... I was prepared for a night of pain and misery, but actually getting fully set up and tweaked for DX10 took about 30 mins (and 10 of that was FSX loading times ).
July 31, 201312 yr "That's a beauty; one of the best FTXG screenies so far" You are kidding right not seeing any global in this shot other than a few lights - don't get me wrong pretty cool angle but thats about it. Rich Sennett
July 31, 201312 yr The FTX lights work with other vector addons. For example I have an OpenVFR package for my country and FTX 3D lights work fine on the roads added by this product. Can OpenVFR completely substitute UTX in your area? Does it also define roads, coast and water shapes? Or is it just vegetation and city LC? Do you use it with UTX? I understand OpenVFR also offers custom autogen for certain regions. Will it work with Global? Thanks, Dirk If you have addons like UTX and landclass plus mesh, a lot of the globe will be turned into FTX Medium! So FTXG might open up an interesting world of new destinations for you with a lot better than default scenery, which really feels like FTX!Do you use any commercial LC with UTX? If so, do you use it both for cities and vegetation? Thanks Dirk.
July 31, 201312 yr Commercial Member The OpenVFR Terrain packs combine landclass and vector data (roads, water), so yes, it substitutes UTX completely. For most european countries OpenVFR uses more recent data than UTX, on the other hand UTX has more custom things like roads textures, shorelines, etc. You can layer it above UTX, so you will get OpenVFR landclass for the country you've bought and UTX for the rest of the continent. The autogen packs from OpenVFR are more tailored for photoscenery. They put trees and buildings exactly where they are in real life, so it may not match textures from FTXG. Michael A2A Simulations

Thanks for clarification, Mike. I understand your OpenVFR terrain folder comes higher than UTX entries in the Library, not just "sandwiched" between UTX LC entries. Dirk.
August 1, 201312 yr The autogen packs from OpenVFR are more tailored for photoscenery. Hi Mike You mean, they provide autogens for photosceneries....So If I get their North America OpenVFR Pack, then I can merge or use it with Mega Scenery photoscenery that does not have autogen of its own? August 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member I'm not sure, here are the autogen packs: http://openvfr.freyt.de/magento/index.php/downloads/openvfr-autogen.html I don't see North America there. Michael A2A Simulations
August 1, 201312 yr They don't have North America(yet?). The problem with the US at least is that there isn't very good or very much OSM data which is what they use to generate the autogen. If and when it becomes available, yes. This would then add correctly placed autogen on top of MSE or any photo real(BlueSky, etc). I just bought openVFR autogen for Norway and tried it with my photoreal scenery that I have been making there and it works. I now have autogen on top of my photo real scenery. Like I said above though, this is based on OSM data and that isn't perfect either. So, on the two flights I've done so far out/in of ENGM, I've noticed some lakes with trees placed in them. I checked the openstreetmap website and notice that the area is largely defined as forest and whoever defined that area in OSM didn't take the time to "carve" out the definition of the lakes that are there. So, the result is that openVFR thinks it's just all a big forest. So, it's not perfect. But, it's a big step in the right direction. Hopefully the OSM data will continue to get updated and openVFR will continue to update their products as the OSM data is updated. They clearly say this Furthermore it brings exciting results together with photosceneries like Tileproxy, Boy..I am excited... if they come out with something like this NA, then MEgascenery and this would be a perfect match.
