July 28, 201312 yr I have said I wouldn't get this, but based on all the positive reviews and some user pictures I have seen I don't think I can hold it any longer! Once I scrape together the money after the upcoming expensive few months I will have to dive in and grab this. It looks superb. :good:
July 28, 201312 yr This may be a stupid question but if you already have orbx uk England Wales and Scotland will it improve anything for these areas ? Thanks 3080rtx on a i7 12700k with 32 Gig ddr5. 2gig Ssd Quest 2 Windows 11
July 28, 201312 yr Possible to work around this by turning off the UTX night lights? Based on your description, I'm guessing the answer is no - you make it sound like an annotation problem. But I thought I'd ask just in case. Thanks in advance! A general question for early adopters - is FTXG better than / equal to / worse than GEX at extremely low altitude? I've been mostly OK with GEX at normal GA cruise altitudes - say about 5,000 feet - but flying lower than that - say at 500 - 1,500 AGL in helos or the Cub - isn't a very satisfying experience. GEX textures and autogen don't hold up at low altitude. ORBX regions have been better in this regard, so I'm wondering if FTXG is a better option for low-level cruise. Any low / slow FTXG users who can advise? Thanks! It's sharper and less blurry so yes it's better lower.
July 28, 201312 yr This may be a stupid question but if you already have orbx uk England Wales and Scotland will it improve anything for these areas ? Thanks Those areas will overwrite the default FSX textures (the ones that FTX Global itself overwrites), so you will see absolutely no difference when flying within that area. Mike Mann

July 28, 201312 yr Many thanks may hold off for a bit then as flying mainly there and pnw at present Appreciate the quick answers . 3080rtx on a i7 12700k with 32 Gig ddr5. 2gig Ssd Quest 2 Windows 11
July 28, 201312 yr I only run dx10. Best FSX options on my system. Someone Please advise when FTX Global lighting problems solved for dx10 users. Will buy then . I love all FTX. Waiting patiently.
July 28, 201312 yr Many thanks may hold off for a bit then as flying mainly there and pnw at present Appreciate the quick answers . I think the only advantage it would offer you would be if you ever wanted to hop across the Irish Sea, North Sea or English Channel to areas not currently available as full blown FTX scenery but still within GA range. With Global those destinations would at least look like part of the same, consistent world as the FTX regions you have. July 28, 201312 yr Really?? That's your argument? DX10 is where it's at today in FSX not because of Microsoft, but because of several inquisitive and dedicated people who didn't accept the status quo. I'm mostly talking about Steve, but there are a few others. FSX DX10 is much better than DX9, it is better than P3D, and it's better than XPX. It's the near future of flight simulation. As a lawyer, you should know never to make a statement unless you are sure of the reaction, and never ask a question unless you know the answer. I hope you're a better pilot. Edit: Sorry that's a little harsh, but it sounded good, and sometimes that's all it takes to convince a jury of your peers. "If it does not fit, you must acquit." After reading this dx10 stuff and how great it is etc etc.. I finally tried it this weekend. Worked great until I found my self at aerosoft munich airport at night, and omdb. Oh boy I turnd that DX10 preview off faster then I turned it on. Maybe I am doing something wrong but.. If airport works great during the day but dissapears at night its a no go for me. So how is it that dx10 is where fsx is at today? Kacper Nowotynski

So how is it that dx10 is where fsx is at today? No, no, no .... I didn't say "FSX is where it's at today." as if it were da bomb. Read it again ... there is no period after today. My statement was meant to illustrate the advances made in FSX DX10 mode apart from Microsoft. Of course, there are a very few problems left (night lighting being one of them), but some really smart people are working on the problem, and have already stated that most of the issues have been resolved. July 28, 201312 yr Ok thanks for clarification. Yeah, now I understand After I reread your post. I just dont see how people are willing to use dx10 100% of the time with all the issues. Does that mean you have to give up your fav airports or only fly during the day? Kacper Nowotynski
July 28, 201312 yr Many thanks may hold off for a bit then as flying mainly there and pnw at present Since the regions you fly in are far apart and don't have much in common I presume you only fly there because you love FTX... If that is so, take note that FTXG will turn the entire globe in something you might call FTX Lite. If you have addons like UTX and landclass plus mesh, a lot of the globe will be turned into FTX Medium! So FTXG might open up an interesting world of new destinations for you with a lot better than default scenery, which really feels like FTX!
July 28, 201312 yr You give up some pay ware at night if the scenery is not dx10 compliant. All default fsx textures show at night. So if you flew default MCO you'd see it. If you fly FT OMDB or SunSkyJet PHL you'd see missing textures at those airports. You may gain fps and more often save VAS space. I do not get OOM in NYC (fsdt jfk 2 and manhattan x) or YVR (fsdt) with the PMDG 737. If you have addon converter then all of the AI aicraft packages should be fine. The fixes in the dx10 forum are now fairly automated so you don't have to go poking in files yourself. You could be fine with just a separate fsx cfg: a dx9 and a dx10. It's very easy and does not affect dx9. As it relates to ftxg I'm getting really good frames and it looks good. The issue, just for dx10, are the light textures that show as black squares.
