FTX Global Released!

Featured Replies

I don't think it matters, FTX Global just overwrites GEX stuff.

it will overwrite gex textures so you might as well

GEX replaces your default textures so doubt it overwrites GEX.  Believe FTX Global will appear in the Scenery Library which means it is standing alone.

Best regards,

Jim

Is there an AutoUpgrade for FTX?

No - all of their products are upgraded by downloading a patch from their site.

Man, I hate that now.

When I originally tried DX10, I went back to DX9 like many people due to the flashing runway lines.

Recently I bought a new high-end computer with the cpu running at 4.3 GHz, which solved most problems concerning frame rates.  But a problem that persisted was flashes and stutters when I look around using TrackIR.  This was a distracting, annoying problem.  It occurred with photoscenery and also with Orbx, when running at very high fps or with the frame rate limited.

Then I tried DX10 again, and suddenly I could glance around outside the cockpit with complete smoothness.  Fantastic!  I plan to stick withs DX10.

I know many have said this already, but the night lighting in Global is spectacularly good.

GEX replaces the default textures and FTX Global will overwrite your GEX textures or default textures. It's not stand alone like the regions, it overwrites all the default/GEX ground textures so you can't switch between GEX and FTXG if you want to without reinstalling GEX to overwrite FTGX. The stuff FTXG adds to the scenery library is for the landclass from what I understand, dont have the product but am sure about it overwritting GEX/default ground textures.

DX9 what 90% use and DX10 not worth tweaking around with.

You do realize that the majority in this world are not Einsteins? LOL :)

I agree the night lighting is a whole new level. I have done one small test flight. It was bright near my computer so I will try later at night to see.

There appears to be a problem with the road lights if you use UTX. You will only see the lights generated by the textures. The lights lining the arterial roadways are missing. John Venema thinks the issue may be UTX is using different GUIDs then the default road system for it's arterial roadways. He says he is going to look into it to see if it can be fixed.  In the event anyone that has UTX that somehow has the roadway lights working, please report!

Thank You

Thanks

I just had a read of the description on FlightSimStores, it said the "WHOLE world", I wonder how much emphases have been placed on the less-popular, while very dominant countries like China.

Has anyone cared or had played around with it to see what does ORBX China look like?  If no one, maybe one of the ORBX team members can shed some light on this one?

Thanks in advance.
