Thanks for the post highways. Hope we see that fix soon.

This problem should be solved next week:

This is post 72 on this page: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/62085-dx10-and-ftx-global-fix-being-worked-on/page-4

Take note that the fix will be included in Steve's upcoming payware addon and it will not be provided by Orbx. So you will have to actually buy Steve's upcoming addon to fox the FTXG night lighting in FTXG. However, I don't think that's a problem because everyone who is using DX10 right now is doing it thanks to Steve and should buy that addon anyway. ^_^

This is exactly why that 99% of the time I don't buy software the instant it hits the market. Having said that, Steve's DX10 fixer will be in the 1% when he finally releases it.

Pretty sure the email quoted from JV by Steve said it would be in a patch uploaded to AVSIM (this week?). Can't check right now as their site looks offline, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Kind of a moot point anyway as I do believe we all will be purchasing the DX10 fix as you say.

JV said this: "So when Steve releases his DX10 payware tool next week there is a strong chance you can expect a mod in there to support the FTXG lighting system." After which I replied to a follow up post that you have to buy Steve's addon in order to obtain the fix. 'Funny' thing is that my post about having to buy that addon has been deleted... probably because Orbx doesn't want to pay attention to the fact that they won't release a fix themselves for free. Another guy just asked about this (if you have to buy Steve's addon or not to get the fix) and so I am curious if he will get an answer or if that post will be deleted too.

Steve himself said this: "At first glance this seems to work and I can add it as a patch to the avsim DX10 patches and my new payware product next week some time." which indeed makes it sound he could add it to the Avsim DX10 patches but since those patches will be added in that payware tool of his, I really doubt if he is going to add it to the current free DX10 fix...

I am waiting for the fixes as well, as a DX10 user.  I am still flying FTXG though, with the 3D lights disabled.  I mean GEX didn't have 3d lighting, and my UTX lights still work great.  the combo looks pretty good to be honest.  so far the only thing that doesn't work is something I didn't have before anyway (the 3d lights)  once its fixed, it'll be great, but in the meantime you may be missing out, if you're holding back just for this.

+1 here....

I am a DX10 guy. FTXG with UTX. I disabled the FTXG lights and enabled the UTX lights.

Flying around CYVR in the duke turbine with cold fronts weather theme, scenery complexity at very dense and autogen at dense, the fps locked at 30 the whole time. switch to night mode with the UTX lights and its gorgeous. But fps dropped from 30 locked to 20 - 25 depending on which direction the plane is facing.

As Jeroen said, I will be purchasing Steve's DX10_Suite addon anyway, for two reasons;  everything that he's done so far for DX10, and also because the DX10_Suite will offer tons more than just this fix.

Agreed!    Steve deserves some rewards for his hard work (just posted the same over at the Orbx forums).

I'll definitely be purchasing it and will finally be able to see what all the fuss is with this new FTX Global thing-a-ma-jig...  ;)

I agree.  Even if there were no extra features or future updates, I would get it for what he has done already!

yup me too, I will buy regardless of addition to the payware version, I want to support Steves work and contribution as he has reinvented FSX for me, I have dropped using P3D for now

Has Steve suggested what he'll be charging for his DX10 package? (Just curious how much I'll ponying up - the purchase itself is a no-brainer) :-)

I have no knowledge of any price OR release date at this point, OB, but I am aware

Steve: that the black squares in the day is an easy fix (which is what they asked) but getting the lights exactly right at night is harder.
so.... we look forward to next week...

Yes, the daytime black squares are gone simply by renaming one BGL.

But let's hope the night lighting fix comes through, so we can enjoy that fab night lighting, here in DX10 world!
