September 8, 201312 yr I've been into this simming thing now for just a few months. Bought the incredable PMDG 737,but being a rookie , have only scratched the surface with that aircraft. Just bought the A2A 172 today, read most of the manual, looks like this will be perfect for us rookies. I'll at least have a chance to land this one in one piece. Can't wait, this is like Christmas time , lol One for the rookies... and this one...
September 10, 201312 yr ^Deskpilot, there's something wrong with your NDB and COM/NAV2 radios. Seems like COM/NAV2 droops down over onto the NDB display. Mine work perfectly. A couple of omissions that I miss for this to absolutely perfect: 1: Icing is not modelled 2: Circuit breakers aren't modelled 3: There's no DME (Optional, I know, but it sure would be useful for the GPS-less models) I've had a CTD, but that's probably because I've flown it nonstop since I got hold of it. My poor computer! if there is a GPS, there's you're DME. Mine doesn't have DME, so if I don't have the 496, I don't have DME.
September 10, 201312 yr Commercial Member Currently DME is in the NO_GPS and GPS295 panel configurations. For the update, we will change the RXP layouts a bit based on popular requests on the forums. With RXP GNS430 there will be an additional DME instead of the first COM/NAV, for the GNS530 we switched the order of COM/NAV, so COM1/NAV1 is on GPS and COM2/NAV2 is on KX155A. I am so glad I bought this plane. Charles.

September 11, 201312 yr How does this function in a home cockpit? Do all the Sitiek stuff work with it?
September 11, 201312 yr The only problems I have with this plane is that its a little twitchy, and sometimes the auto pilot trims it nose up so I end up in a stall. Its that how the real plane behaves? Apart from those issues I'm loving it

Is there any chance that the same could be done for the default panel-mounted GNS400 option?
September 11, 201312 yr One for the rookies... and this one... Love how Paul Bertorelli's shoulder pads keep growing and growing and growing...
September 11, 201312 yr Love how Paul Bertorelli's shoulder pads keep growing and growing and growing... I know! Claassssic. I like.... And we knew when their pimples cleared up.... They were going to be Jet Pilots. The first video was to illustrate at 1:12 in the video... How little back pressure is required to rotate the 172SP. C.
September 11, 201312 yr The only problems I have with this plane is that its a little twitchy, and sometimes the auto pilot trims it nose up so I end up in a stall. Its that how the real plane behaves? I've got a fair number of hours in a variety of 172s, but I suddenly realized when I saw your question that, while I'm sure the answer is generally "no", I have no idea because I've never in my life flown a 172 equipped with an AP of any variety, much less one with altitude hold. 172s with autopilots - what will they think of next? My how times have changed! Scott
September 11, 201312 yr Next will be 172s with autoland... Landings will go the way of the NDB and eventually not taught to students... LOL "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley

Its that how the real plane behaves? Apart from those issues I'm loving it Can't say what A/P, this Cessna supposeably has modeled. Today's auto-pilots for small GA aircraft, can be solid state, lightweight, and maintain altitude within -10/+10'. Very reliable, compared to the junk I've seen in older Cessnas & Pipers. An altitude hold comes in very handy, when you're flying across 30 miles of Class B airspace, and constantly having to watch where ATC tells you to fly, as well as looking for other aircraft, that ATC is pointing out to you. Today's busy airspace, can be a lot more to deal with, than the liesurely pace of the old days. Technology, can be very helpful. And no, 172's are not twitchy.........at all.
September 11, 201312 yr The A2A C172 has a KAP140 modelled, with 100% functionality (including working baro setting; first time I've ever seen this in a FS AP). It works flawlessly for me. The plane is flying nicely now too, with the reduction in elevator sensitivity mod that Bliksimpie suggested on the A2A forum. My only disatisfaction with this plane now is ground handling, taxiing, turns, etc... but A2A are working on this, and I tried some beta updates that Scott has been working on, and they are going in the right direction.
