September 11, 201312 yr The A2A C172 has a KAP140 modelled, with 100% functionality (including working baro setting; first time I've ever seen this in a FS AP). It works flawlessly for me. The plane is flying nicely now too, with the reduction in elevator sensitivity mod that Bliksimpie suggested on the A2A forum. My only disatisfaction with this plane now is ground handling, taxiing, turns, etc... but A2A are working on this, and I tried some beta updates that Scott has been working on, and they are going in the right direction. Can you post the link to the elevator fix Thanks
September 11, 201312 yr Can you post the link to the elevator fix Thanks It was literally just a suggestion to open the aircraft.cfg and to go down to the [Flight Tuning] section, and to change the Elevator Effectiveness=2 value, to ;- Elevator Effectiveness=1 ........worked fab, and took the excessive twitchy pitchiness away, but without feeling numb or dumbed down.
September 11, 201312 yr I continue to feel that one person's horribly unrealistic is another's spot on, even, dare I say it, among pilots with actual experience of the aircraft. Which is why aircraft.cfg is such a good idea.
September 11, 201312 yr oday's busy airspace, can be a lot more to deal with, than the liesurely pace of the old days. Technology, can be very helpful. Not knocking technology at all Larry. Heck, I put the RXP 530 in my A2A 172 (though I'm still not flying it due a couple of issues and no time on my part to get them worked out since I bought it). It just struck me that it wasn't that long ago that a 172 with an AP was very much a rarity. BTW, airspace really hasn't changed that much from when I was actively flying. It was complex then too. Not sure how "old" you think my good old days are... ^_^ Scott

September 12, 201312 yr I've got a fair number of hours in a variety of 172s, but I suddenly realized when I saw your question that, while I'm sure the answer is generally "no", I have no idea because I've never in my life flown a 172 equipped with an AP of any variety, much less one with altitude hold. 172s with autopilots - what will they think of next? My how times have changed! Scott I am not licensed yet but fly a lot with friends. Today I flew with my budddy in his Cherokee 180 and it has no GPS and no AP. His joke at the end was ... "did you notice in this flight that at no time did I turn on the GPS?". Because he does not have one. What an amazing flight today. We went to 12000 feet over the rockies from CYBW, overflew Banff and did a few orbits of Mount Assiniboine. Nothing but a paper chart and checking the FROM radial for the YBW VOR for references. I can't wait to take my 172 up and do the same flight over again in the sim! With the chart and I will leave my GNS530 off. Charles.. I asked someone with 400 hours in a 172 he owned for years and remember checkouts in newer 172's recently. He said at 1000 RPM, if he forgets to put the brake on during his checklist, it will start to roll right away. Not fast but it will start moving forward for sure. He showed me in his Cherokee180 (different plane) how little power it needed to roll. Wow. I hope a patch is coming soon. But still this is my favorite GA plane ATM. Charles.
September 12, 201312 yr Just be aware that when you modify the cfg file "Elevator effectiveness" you are invalidating the spin/stall aspects of the FM. After the next update release it would be advisable to stick with an unmodified cfg file. Paul

It should be noted that after following A2A's recommendation about control sensitivity in fsuipc, and setting the elevator effectiveness back to 2, it feels almost exactly the same as the flat response curve with elevator effectiveness=1 In essence, I think we're achieving the same 'feel' both ways, it's just different paths to the same reward
September 12, 201312 yr Ive been sitting on the sidelines with this waiting for the heat to cool down. So, Is the latest installer fully updated with all the latest mods? ps by the way very impressive how A2A has handled a less than perfect launch in a calm and open manner . For me their reputation is 100% intact, well done guys ZORAN
September 12, 201312 yr None of the updates are yet put into the release installer Zoran, but you can freely get a beta patch for the clickspots disappearing (if you get that bug; not everyone did), from the A2A forum. For the other issues, there's nothing out yet, but I don't think we'll have long to wait; as I said some of us have tried another patch sent my PM from Scott that helped in some areas, but they're still refining and making sure everything is right, before releasing a full official SP publically.
September 12, 201312 yr Thanks Dave, Its my next a/c purchase but I decided a while back not to be a beta tester :-) Keeping my eye on it . ZORAN

I took a different approach; I changed the trim effectiveness from 0 to 1 and it feels fine now.
September 12, 201312 yr a beta patch for the clickspots disappearing (if you get that bug; not everyone did), Aha, so that is a bug! I purchased the airplane, got no clickspots to work and started scratching my head. While I was still scratching my head a few hours later the PMDG 777 was released and after that... well, let's say I lost focus on other airplanes! My plan now is to fly the 777 to different areas of the world on Vatsim, and then go exploring the area with the 172! Yup, I have ORBX global! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
