I think we should call OMDB - Triple 7 City.  The people at Fly Tampa must have been psychic.  Last year I visited OMDB as a passenger.  It is an awesome airport.  When I was there I saw more 777s in one place that any place I had been.  On any given day they may have as many 777 on the ground as KPAE.  Can someone in the know tell us?  My PMDG 777 is on the ground at VVDN.  That is where I was when the 777 was released.  It took me 12 days to circumnavigate the globe because I made 25 flights of various lengths.  Life is good.

I have to do that route sometime.  On my last vacation in San Fran, I watched an Emirates 777-300ER turn in the climb over Fisherman's Wharf, and said to myself, "I'll be flying that bird in FSX in a few years!"

I can never get copy /paste to work in PFPX. CTRL C/CTRL V don't work, right click copy /paste don't work. Do you have to let it build a route, then edit it to get it to work? Because just trying to put something in the route box when building a non schedule flight does not work for me.

Try setting up the route as a scheduled flight first?  Making sure the route box is blank, just paste like it's any other app, and then click build route.  No need to build the route first.

I would guess it's the airport's ideal location between two long haul destinations, Asia and Europe.  It's a rapidly expanding stopover point that is rivaling traditional international hubs.  Also, many airlines are ditching the 4 engine 747 and A340 for the fuel savings of the 777.

This weekend I've bought the 777, O my GOD what a plane, I don't have enough words to describe it.

I have flew this baby on VATSIM from LROP to EIDW to EYVI to LFBO and finaly last night I have arrived to LSZH. Now it's waiting me to LSZH for the flight back home to LROP.

Further to my 737NGX gatecrash post further back in the thread.......my 737-600 is now sitting at Gate 21 @ EGBB Birmingham, England. I can't see any 777s here at the moment, but I will keep my eyes open for the chance to see one of you long haul pilots asleep at the "wheel"

Wow, I didn't know the two delta flights cross paths, and that makes sense that the west bound flight needs to avoid the one way east bound NAT traffic. NATs are so fascinating, I have become rusty because I haven't flown them in ages, but I'm becoming reacquainted fast.

Interesting tidbit about Iran airspace. When I flew on a vacation trip from London Heathrow to Bangalore India in 2009, we passed over Iran. Not so my last trip a month ago, or at least that's what the maps tell me on FA. I think we crossed over a small portion to the northeast. But anyway, it's interesting to see the role geopolitics plays in the route planning performed by airline dispatchers.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me!

Iranian airspace is open for international overflights, and European and Asian carriers use it often on trips to and from Asia, but because of the political tensions between the U.S. and Iran, I believe U.S. carriers try to avoid it.

I don't think any carrier routes over Syria at this time because of the ongoing instability and civil war there, other than some M.E. carriers who do have flights to and from Damascus.

Parked at EGCC in a TAM livery after an overnighter from SBGL. I may return this a/c to a south American country and then head back, maybe to KSLC.
