I'm going to nip this in the bud and add to Cameron's post.  I emailed Pete within 24 hours of the original X-Pilot post, offering him a free copy of the Saab once the update was out.

The only time we have refused Pete a free copy of anything, as far as LES is concerned, was the first version of the Saab.  And that was because we don't want the Saab to get reviewed prior to the update coming out.  The update adds about 10fps (give or take) to performance, and performance plays a HUGE part in any review.  Once the update was finalized, there would be no issues with handing out a free copy.

He got the DC-3 for free last year.  He emailed me about the XP 10 DC-3 update, and why he didn't get it.  I replied back and told him to contact Cameron and he will help him out.

I have no idea why he said he bought it.  Unless he bought it under a different name and for a different computer for whatever reason.

I respect Pete, but that video made me sit there, open mouthed, wondering what was going on!?

So you didnt want to provide him with a free copy - which I think is your right but probably a loos at the same time.

Now you imply that you were thinking that you would supply a copy but because of some random guy on a forum making a comment you may have to go back to your original position of not supplying one?

Seems like your position hasnt changed at all but you have put blame on someone else for your decision?

Hi, Jason,

You're highly misinterpreting. Scotchegg has zero to do with this. My attention has been drawn to the live feed archive, where I am basing thoughts on things Froogle (and only Froogle) falsely stated.

My last correspondence to Froogle (and only correspondence, actually) admits my willingness to him to accomodate his request for free products. For various reasons beyond any explanation that is of your business, my office time has been limited as of late, and he accepted this offer and explanation in a pleasant, mature manner. Sadly, I now see this archive with false accusations potentially damaging to one's reputation.

Put more simply: He was never refused such a request as he has stated. No such correspondence ever took place.

Never mind the other misstatement that he claims he purchased a product from us in prior time that he actually received for free and never purchased.

Founder of X-Aviation

This is, without doubt, 100% false.

I am saddened and shocked to see someone who places himself in a light of honesty and integrity say such things. These comments will force us to re-think our position of priorly willing to accomodate.

I do not wish to extend this into a dramatic high school debate, but your comment, scotchegg, required enough of a response to state otherwise. This is all I will reply to on the matter.

Cheers to Pete for spreading the good vibes of X-Plane with the products he's shown off, none the less.

I don't think I ever said a published REFUSED. What I did say is that two developers in particular said they wanted me to look at their products, you as their publisher were asked to provide them, then a flame war erupted with you and another of your developers on the forums you own (before I even got involved) and I heard nothing from you since.

In fact specifically I said that I LOVED your products, and regardless (despite the anger directed in my direction) will be looking at them, but after I have looked at the products that others did send in for review. Please don't make statements as you did above implying that my honesty or integrity are in some way in question as a result of a third parties heresay about my exact phraseology.

For your collective part, on your own forums Ben Russell one of your developers posted the following statements in his tirade

"I find it annoying that someone with a $300 mic and a $300 headset wants free content."

"I've never really given a toss about what a review has to say about product after that.

Common opinion matters. Reviewers do not."

"he guy spends half his ######ing video talking about how bad he feels about putting out the hat AFTER PUTTING OUT THE HAT TO THE PEOPLE WHO CAN LEASE AFFORD IT." -

And then a slew of comments from yourself at your own users after they stepped in to call Ben out in his insults hurled at me (again, many of which were made before I was even aware of your forums).

Fairly sure I did buy it and was supplied it (the DC-3) - I'm in error there then I apologize.

I have checked my email and Cameron is correct, the DC-3 was supplied for free for review. Also in checking my email prior to my video going up about X-Plane I contacted Cameron directly on September 10th asking for updated links to look at the 64 bit version - he was one of the guys that did not respond hence my video. Contact was resumed After the video went live.

Guys sometimes its nice to forgive and forget, agree to disagree and move forward.

Froogle, you bring a fresh and exciting take on reviewing products for the flight sim community.  I felt connected to you on the live stream and I am glad I am a part of your efforts.  I feel you do the community a great service.....

Cameron,  you have build a solid community and provide some ground breaking add-ons for X-Plane which have help to extend the sim further.

Guys I think you both should re-boot, talk and get to know each other.  Move forward and work together.  Just forget it all before it becomes damaging to the community and to your efforts.

Im being selfish I will admit,  I want to see more Froogle.....

I dont see anything here that should keep this discussion going in this direction......

Absolutely completely utterly and whole heartedly agree.

You can take this up with your viewer, Scotchegg, who interpreted it as such.

you as their publisher were asked to provide them

To which your request was stated it would be accommodated, though my time as of late was limited and it would be added to my list of things to do upon arrival back to the office.

then a flame war erupted with you and another of your developers on the forums you own

A "flame war" erupted without my initial presence, but took place on a vocal community. I chimed in later for people to see things in a light when taking a step back. Emotions get in the way of people way too much. You (unless you were being dishonest) stated to that very same community you understood where this specific developer was coming from. This same developer made it very clear he has no say in who gets what at any time, anywhere, and given my prior correspondence to state I would (and I quote) "be happy to accommodate this" I am shocked at your commentary in your live stream.

Contact was resumed After the video went live.

As I'm sure you're aware by my explanation of out of office via private e-mail with you, and the fact that I am no subscriber to your videos, the creation of such a video had no bearing.

To get down to the nitty gritty, you said the following in your live feed (after said correspondence):

Goran…Goran I’ve spoken to, he wants to help. Again..I..I feel bad for these guys. You know, Goran wants to help, he wants me to look at the DC-3, he wants me to look at his Saab, uh…JRollon wants me to look at his aircraft as well. Their distributor is…X-Aviation. X-Aviation…I have no idea what’s going on there. The guy seems to have a bee in his bonnet. I’m waiting, hopefully he’s going to get back to me…who knows. Maybe he won’t after this live stream. I don’t really…at this point I really kinda don’t care.

sigh.

and at 2 hours 20 I say a whole lot more indicating my love for your product line as well ....

My "I really kinda don't care" stems from drama like this that seems so inextricably tied to various parts of the X-Plane community.  Don't need it, don't want it, just want to make great vids about a great product. I also pointed out the same to Goran in the emails I copied you on this evening.

Anyways as John said, and I agreed, we can move on, say this was a misunderstanding (my misunderstanding why there was hesitation and silence, my misunderstanding given the anger in your forums directed at me that perhaps you don't want to deal with me, etc etc) and get back to business.

If you want me to look at your products then I'm happy to do so. Also **STILL** happy to take you out for a beer as I've suggested now twice in emails to you over the past 18 months since we only live 30 minutes away from each other.

All the best

Jealous now......darn Floridians and their beer, palm trees and nice weather.....

I used to live over in Tampa, it's now after October 31st, the Floridians should start to be feeling pretty cold just about now -- unless off-course they came from Ohio (which is about 1/2 the population of the state .... )

It's still pretty good here right now - 90 a couple of days back. Was a little gloomy today.

Ok gents, my bad, it seems I jumped to a conclusion and shouldn't have said 'refused'. My apologies.

Use both because for eye candy its fsx, but for flight model and tweaking its Xplane, and think having both made me better using my ga planes and understand how torque works on small aircraft. Carenado made Xplane usable to me with C-152 and C-172 aircraft. X-plane will improve with time in terms of everything all are talking about, and it will take 5 to 10 years to notice Xplane improvements.  X-plane has it downsides but it feels more fluid while flying no blurries or stutters.  Still at the end of the day FSX still wins because of general aircraft selection and 3rd party support available.  Do think the younger generation will be the ones improving X-plane as fsx will not be latest thing to them.

As of today, there are still misconceptions about X-Plane and torque. A posting at the org. and X-pilot. One person is asking for help about the roll, especially to the left. He wants to know if he's doing something wrong. The replys were about using the null zone, and the "fact" that real pilots are constantly making adjustments with the yoke/stick. No mention at all..........that X-Plane is just screwed up. I had to mention, that "no", pilots are not always making corrections to keep a plane level. It's a known X-Plane problem. At least it's known by some, but apparently not enough.

The second post involves a switch to X-Plane. The discussion is again flight dynamics. After trying X-Plane, and FD that requires more attention, the poster whole heartedly agrees, that FSX did indeed fly like it's on rails.

I've seen a lot of postings and replies like the second one. It seems that X-Plane is more of a challange. It's more to do, and apparently FSX was just much too easy. But X-Plane is "wrong". Just cruising along in a normal GA airplane IS easy. You shouldn't have to be making constant adjustments. It shouldn't be a challange. If you were to feel these forces in real life, you'd know that something is out of whack. It's out of rig. It needs attention. This is something we do, when we test fly a new airplane. We check for a "heavy wing", and make any nessesary corrections.

Yes, I do constantly bring this up. And yes, Austin is finally going to look into a fix. But in the meantime, hardly anyone tells these posters what's really going on. They just give the wrong answers and solutions to a situation that's wrong to start with.

And one more thing....

To the person that mentioned no one working on FSX, as compared to a small group working on X-Plane. Has to do with MSFS leaving FSX behind, of course. In reality, it doesn't matter. Clear back in the beta-testing days for FSX, most third parties were sent copies of the betas. They were making their own adjustments to the flight models way back then. This was before the discs were even put on the market. Nothing is "locked" when it comes to the FSX flight model. I know this, because I was doing betas for third parties as well as Microsoft, at the time. The fact that MSFS left FSX behind, means very little, as far as farther development is concerned.

Once again, I'm a multi-sim, opinioned person. I just don't like some of the BS I keep reading, to put X-Plane in a more favorable light, when comparing to the competition.
