December 4, 201312 yr Well I'll be damned! Now if they would just fix the terrible AA this might be useable. I basically tweaked this to Kostas guide less Bufferpools and HighMemFix. I set FFTF to .2 just like in FSX, recommended for Orbx as a minimum.
December 4, 201312 yr There is something I really like about P3D that I noticed with the help guide. Even if you shut P3D down the help guide stays open. LM's move towards this false fullscreen mode is really growing on me. LM's move towards this false fullscreen mode is really growing on me. If they'd just fix the out of focus bug it'd be great. I'm wondering if they are gonna move with 2.1 right away or stick with their quarterly update routine from v1.0? I sure hope they see the urgency in fixing some of these annoying bugs.
December 4, 201312 yr I wonder if setting the P3Dv2 process priority to High like Jeroen's suggestion for TrackIR might mitigate the out-of-focus issue somewhat until LM fixes it. That might require bumping TIR up another notch to Realtime though.
December 4, 201312 yr Commercial Member I'm wondering if they are gonna move with 2.1 right away or stick with their quarterly update routine from v1.0? I sure hope they see the urgency in fixing some of these annoying bugs. I would imagine that they will put out a service pack and put out a v2.1 per a standard release schedule, but time will tell. At least we can say that the product is being supported and improved. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
December 4, 201312 yr Well I spent all night using the tuning guide, adjusting some values and got my textures and scenary now loading almost instantly managed to raise my FPS even with my sliders at Medium, High and Ultra to appox 20 fps in the Otter extended about 25 fps in the default aircraft. With internal shadows enable fps will drop to about 20. With Heavy clouds and rain and Orbx Global I get to about 18-19 fps in Otter. I would get about 9-10 before tuning If you mess with this : FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION, it will give you faster texture load and up your fps a bit. l get 50 to 60 fps if set to zero but it will miss some of your trees and some buildings at such a low settings. No noticeable blurriness and pop up auto-gen. What I like about P3Dv2 is even at low fps my stutters are not as pronounced as in FSX. My system is : AMD Phenom II x 4 965 OC 4.1GHZ Radeon HD 6850 at 850 MHZ 1024 MBytes 3x 22" wide screens CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z
December 4, 201312 yr Well that was fun..till I tried landing at KPHX at night with a Default Baron. I got my first ever OOM!
December 4, 201312 yr I tried FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.1. It doesn't noticeably give me more fps, but it does help a lot on the fps loss when I was fly A36(?). For whatever reason A36 eats 5fps which is a lot and causes noticeable stutters. With FFTF=0.1 the A36 takes a much less hit, maybe 1-2fps, and the fly is a lot smoother. In FSX my fps always take a big dip when I'm near a big airport and FFTF=0.1 nearly cured this problem. Haven't observed something similar in P3D2 yet. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
December 4, 201312 yr The A36 wasn't good on frames in FSX either. The fact that it's default now is a bit misleading in terms of performance. It's still an addon plane and being an older Carenado product, it's not that well optimized.
December 4, 201312 yr This almost sounds like something that could go into the P3D Tips and Tricks Forum. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 4, 201312 yr Then LM really shouldn't put A36 into P3D. I found FSX planes I copied to P3D are all very light on fps in P3D. Learjet, F-18, etc all ultra smooth with no hit at all at performance. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
December 4, 201312 yr If you are using Megascenery, the first tip on the list is like a gift from God. The performance suddenly matches that in FSX. - Bill Magann
December 4, 201312 yr I get almost no frame impacts with the default Carenado A36. Now, I load the Carenado A36A with the Aspen gauges and there is at least a 20 frames penalty. Exact same aircraft only with the Aspen HSI/PFD. Im beginning to wonder if some of these more complex gauges are in need of some tweaking for V2.
December 4, 201312 yr Very good list, thanks for posting. Sent from my Mobile thing Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
