February 14, 201412 yr Commercial Member Hi guys, I am reading through BA's Fleet of 777-200's and I am getting more desperate for these to be simulated properly in FSX. The 777-200a is has a pair of GE90-76B (76,300lb) with a range of just over 5,000 miles The B variant (early 200er) is restricted to 7,700 NM and is payload restricted when doing the longer sectors. I guess I am tired of having such an overpowered aircraft in the sim, I want to feel like I am heavy and struggling down the runway and planning for flights that are going to be MTOW restricted depending on weather etc. Comparing the B77L to the 777-200a in engine performance is 110,000 to 76,000 PMDG have already stated that they're doing the 777-200er but my I have my doubts as to when this is going to materilize and I would certainly hope for a 777-200A as this was the aircraft that birthed the 777 series, which we are all so fond of. I look forward to your discussion and hope PMDG clarifies their stance on the older 200 series. Best wishes, Alex Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here! YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK
February 14, 201412 yr Here here! Would love to see this!! February 14, 201412 yr Well don't worry Alex - they might not do a 777-200, but they are planning on doing a DC6, so no worries  Not having too much of a go though, as PMDG are the best in the world and are the only company that build sim products LIKE the real aircraft - not poor textures and loads of unclickable features and unsimulated systems (i.e. any airbus sim to date, FT embraer, QW 146 etc. etc. etc.) How FABULOUS it is to have an aircraft where you xcn do a full cockpit prep check and not an unsimulated, unclickable feature in sight. Looove PMDG. John A
February 14, 201412 yr Well... Airbus X Extended is decent too. Maybe not as complex but still it's beautiful and in my case much better on frames after thorough testing. Although I have to admit that when I came back to NGX it felt like home Anyway for 777... I would say service pack for existing one first (so I can buy it) and than new models. But yes, 777A is something which would add some immersion. Tomasz Zawadzki
February 14, 201412 yr Full Definition of DESPERATE 1 a : having lost hope <a desperate spirit crying for relief> b : giving no ground for hope <the outlook was desperate> 2 a : moved by despair <victims made desperate by abuse> b : involving or employing extreme measures in an attempt to escape defeat or frustration <made a desperate leap for the rope> 3 : suffering extreme need or anxiety <desperate for money> 4 : involving extreme danger or possible disaster <a desperate situation> 5 : of extreme intensity 6 : shocking, outrageous Yeah, I'm really desperate for some add on airplane... Might recommend checking with your local community's mental health agency to see what counseling services are available.
February 14, 201412 yr I guess I am tired of having such an overpowered aircraft in the sim, I want to feel like I am heavy and struggling down the runway Max available thrust with the LR is almost never required. I always set a healthy derate when there's plenty of runway to use. Gives me a nice toned down takeoff run and climbout with a heavier feel. February 14, 201412 yr Use de-rated takeoff options at MGTOW or operate from high elevation airports. I would imagine the 777-300ER would have a heavier feel as well. "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley
February 14, 201412 yr Load up the Captain Sim 707 fully loaded and you will have all the heavy feel you can handle... I'm not that interested in the 777 much at all - so automated there's nothing to do....
February 14, 201412 yr Here here Alex. Would much rather they ditched the DC-6 development in favour of more man power producing an ER!
February 14, 201412 yr I'd love them to do it too but I can't see it happening, not with their current development schedule. I know they've never promised one, but a BBJ had been mentioned a few times by them and nothing ever happened. Gavin Price
February 14, 201412 yr Not really, who cares about that ancient, underpowered aircraft? That's like you get a new 500hp car, and then you ask for 250hp one. Lj. Prodanovic
February 14, 201412 yr That could be said about any aircraft type developed for the flight sim community. Surely any aircraft has a place in the sim world no matter how powerful it is? Gavin Price
February 14, 201412 yr Author Commercial Member Guys, some of you take titles a little literally, 'desperate' is just for the title. - It's also about quantity, there are more 777-200A aircraft in the world than there are 777-200LR, and this is the foundation of the 777. If you're a triple 7 fan, or followed it's development, you would have certainly followed the 'old bird'. Not really, who cares about that ancient, underpowered aircraft? That's like you get a new 500hp car, and then you ask for 250hp one. I guess you don't want anything like the 747 then? Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here! YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK
February 14, 201412 yr When the 777X was first announced, I strongly felt it needed to be followed up with an expansion package with the older 777s, but having the -200LR/LRF now and with the -300ER coming soon, I will be very happy. Combined, these aircraft in the real world are operated by airlines in North & South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania. Plus the real world development of the 777-8/-9 will make the -200LR/LRF and -300ER "old". I would prefer that PMDG tackle an entirely new aircraft after the 777 & 747 are complete. I think a regional jet aircraft would be nice because of its ability to operate in large and small airports/markets in real world ops. A 787 would not be bad either. I'm a sentimental Boeing fan, but do understand Airbus fans wanting PMDG to develop their favorites.
