March 17, 201412 yr Luke- I just flew the latest iteration- and it needs more work... Gonna be a bit longer, sorry. :( Hi Robert, Just my opinion...it's worth what you paid for it. I found out something really interesting today from a real B777 pilot that got me thinking. Turns out that 19 years and dozens (if not hundreds) of updates later, the real 777 still has annoying software bugs. The one that really stuck out was a bug in the current software version where the aircraft would sometimes start an uncommanded turn offtrack while in LNAV mode....the appropriate corrective action is to select HDG mode, turn the aircraft back on course, then re-select LNAV. Boeing has promised a fix, but there will likely be more bugs arising once the new version is released (as there were with the last version). Can you imagine the fallout if the PMDG bird had this same (annoying but 'realistic') bug? I love PMDG's products and will always support them, but I genuinely think that perfection is in the process...not the product. The product will never be perfect on all systems, in all conditions, in everyone's opinion. This is due to limitations of the platform, user systems or the inevitable existence of bugs (as shown by Boeing...19 years in). You could spend a lifetime striving for perfection on a product...and you will never get there (thank goodness). Can you image how bored we'd all be if we had perfect products and nothing to look forward to? Are PMDG's products perfect and bug free? NO (nobody's are...not even the real aircraft) Will their products ever be completely bug free? NO (nobody's will) Does PMDG continue to provide excellent support for their existing products? YES Do they genuinely try to help their customers have the best possible experience using their products? YES Do they continue to improve their existing products as they innovate? YES (777SP1, NGX etc.) Do they continue to push the limits of what is possible on the platforms we use? YES Are their products an accurate simulation of the aircraft they represent? YES (Currently the best that exist for the FSX platform for every product they've released) PMDG has achieved perfection in their process...how they go about developing products, as well as how they support the products they do release. They provide excellent simulations while keeping us eager for more (NGX sp2, 747v2, DC6 etc etc). IMHO, the 777 will never be completely bug free (even Boeing hasn't been able to do that). The bugs and promises of updates though, keep me wanting more....which is a great feeling....we barely had the 77L for a few weeks before we started craving the 77W. Similarly, the yearning for the -200ER will come shortly the 77W is released. We're addicted to wanting more. The true death of this hobby will be when there's nothing left to tinker with, nothing left to fix, nothing left to improve, and no features left to implement.... Luckily, that will never happen. FSX was broken the day it was released...and look at what this community has managed to create in spite of (or because of?) an imperfect platform. People might jump on me for saying this, but both the 777SP1 and the 77W will be obsolete shortly after they're released. Luckily, we have a (near?) perfect developer providing ongoing support, fixing what's broken, and continuing to push the envelope as to what's possible. Air Canada paid $200+ million for their 777's and Boeing is still working out software issues. I paid $90 for a desktop simulation of the 777....OF COURSE it will have bugs!! BUT, there's a reason I spent my money with PMDG and not elsewhere.....Looking forward to the 77W. Cheers, David Brown
March 17, 201412 yr Enjoy this one for the time i simply love the 777-300ER (not sure if i love her more than the 747 though B) B) ) Hope to see the 777-300ER soon  regards, Alexander Marx
March 17, 201412 yr Commercial Member David, as a software developer, I couldn't agree with you more. Bugs are inevitable, and they will be there, no matter how much one polishes the code. Different combinative actions will certainly break the code; it just comes down to what those combinations are. So, towards your comment, all I can say is, "+1." TFDi Design
March 18, 201412 yr This is why we love our hobby and love to fly. Its a relief from daily frustrations and a distraction to the pains that come from job, health, and otherwise. Its why we support Avsim, and the many great devs like PMDG. Thanks for the update and look forward to the great things you have in store in the weeks and months ahead. March 18, 201412 yr Last airline to fly the 707 if I recall correctly was MEA. Folks at PMDG must be getting desperate, now that is one heck of a price drop (Cannot figure out how to add the infamous Dr. Evil pinkie). When it comes out, I shall enjoy. If I expire before that, than I have enjoyed waiting for the release. Win win if you ask me. Waleed N
March 18, 201412 yr Author Commercial Member Gents- On the topic of whether we should just release it and fix bugs later because it can never be perfect:" You guys seem to forget that we know what we are doing. So if, in our opinion, the thing isn't ready, then there must be a reason we feel this way, no? We aren't talking about tuning the time it takes for a light builb to fade on or off- we are talking about tuning core functionality in the FBW system so that it works properly. If we gave it to you and said, "hey it isn't flyable, but just chill- we'll come out with a fix for that later" the the crying here would be epic- and we would be accused (by the very same blokes, most likely) of being thieves, scoundrels and ######s. Use your heads, gents- this isn't our first trip to the rodeo... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
March 18, 201412 yr $5.000.000.000, I hope you can arrange a discount. Little short of cash this month. Mikael Johansson

Rob, Just to clear some misunderstandings - when I replied to David's comment, I was referring to "light bulb fade on or off time" situations, NOT about tuning the FBW. It would be a slap on the head to release a FBW aircraft without the basics working properly. Any misunderstandings - thats my bad. TFDi Design
