Reason for "Dislike"?

Featured Replies

The account that he gave his "dislike" from today, was yet another brand new account that he is using to go around following my posts, disliking them, to "exact his revenge"... ha ha

That's messed up Dave.  Tom now gives those with 1000+ posts the ability to report trolls, spam etc, maybe he could look at a system that does not give new forum members access to the likes, dislikes, etc until they've had at least xx amount of posts?  This "revenge" you speak of would be greatly minimized or even eliminated then.

I would honestly give the opinion that you are one of the most polite, patient and mild-mannered people that posts around here. So I wouldn't worry too much about the fact that some people just get bees in their bonnets about certain viewpoints, or more likely, certain people.

I feel honored, Dave, thank you for your kind words! Actually I don't actually give a **** about the downvotes, except that (as explained before) I would like to learn from them, and that was the idea I wanted to share when I started this thread.

As one consequence of this trhead it seems that the "Voters List" has been removed (or is that some error on my end?), which I actually find futile, because it lets us do our votes in anonymity again - and maybe encourages people like the ones Dave has to deal with to go on, simply because noone else would actually find out who those voters are!

Glad you bought it up.  I hate the like/dislike system.  Anyone can hit it, but they don't want to state, why they dislike it.

For me the voters list is still showing.

The voters list has been removed on my end for a few weeks now.  I thought everyone was seeing this.

Very weird. I've seen a few threads where the voting buttons don't appear at all, but wherever they do, I can always see the voters list.

I recently got a "dislike" for this post (originally posted on this thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/439802-which-airbus-should-i-purchase/):

The JARDesign has the superior FMGS, its system modelling is quite good and deep also. But my preferred Airbus is the A321 from Peter Hager. Its FBW (programmed by a company called QPAC, they have their own A320 addon as well) is the best I've ever used on any sim platform. It works extremly precise, flying non precision approaches and circling procedures in this Airbus is a pure fun! SIDs and STARs can be flown using raw data (VOR, DME + NDB) or can be set up manually. It is even capable of flying P-RNAV procedures!

You may want to have a look at this video in which I perform the circle to land procedure into LOWI's RWY08.

(link to an Youtube video in the original post)
They have both their cons and pros, but I fly Peter's Airbus more or less exclusively in XPX.

When I took a look at who has given me the dislike, I´ve seen it has been a user with only 7 or 8 active posts.
Younger or "unexperienced" internet and forums users tend to mix up the difference between "disagree" or "dislike" rather often! ;-)
So I think, it might be a good idea to have a mandatory item, that has to be filled out, popping up if someone wants to dislike a post.

I prefer to get rid of the system altogether, so that any dislikes have to be posted rather than just "clicked".

I was thinking along those lines as I read your post. Then I got to this piece. Agree.

I think most people are behaving responsibly, though I have seen the occasional (very silly) tit for tat spat especially at the beginning, but on second thought actually not at all, recently.

I always thought such spats said more about the participants than it said about the system.

As time has gone on, I think the vast majority are probably settled in, and just using the vote system as the tool it was intended to be.

As for "dislike" I see it as the difference between "Disagree" and "Very strongly disagree"

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I've gotten so many dislikes, but surprisingly quite a number of likes, from some of my posts on P3D. I guess it just balances itself out. Can't take this stuff too personally, I mean after all, we are all sim geeks.

You only have TWO, crybaby! :P

Which ones are the dislikes? If they're red I've got 4! :( What'll I do, what'll I do?

Uh oh.  Trust me, You DON'T want to know what happens if you reach 5, but it's really bad.

:Shame On You:

Well, considering that I have 7, I assume that something bad must have happened? Does "having to carry on coming in to work five days a week" count? Yes, I rather think it does :Big Grin:
